Hello everyone. My name is Chi-Yang. I'm from Quantum Custody. Really excited to present the panel today. It's on the topic of quantum.
And obviously today we've heard a lot from AI to blockchain and you know, really excited to talk about the quantum shift in the next technological era. Here we go. So we have a really exciting panel at the moment. We've got Sohil Tiwari who's my co-founder from Quantum Custody. Fabrizio Genovese from One Time Labs.
Eric Wall from Taproot Wizards. And we have Leonardo Giacomazzi from Solana. And Wolfgang Vitale from Bitcoin Swiss. Luca Piermarini is moderating the panel. And we have two panels today.
One is on the road to quantum readiness. And the second panel is on beyond custody in terms of the evolution of digital assets in the post-quantum era. So I didn't want to get into much detail because the panel will discuss in detail the topics. But the key thing I wanted to get out was that the quantum risk is real. The the time is now to take action.
And essentially as we move forward, what we'll see is that this is a new shift. AI has been in the spotlight you know, for the last year. And digital assets has always been here. And now it's time for quantum. Um, I just wanted to uh give a brief introduction into uh quantum computing, how it's different from classical computing.
Um, classical computing works on bits, zeros and ones. Um, quantum works on qubits. Um, so the idea is superposition, entanglement, um, and interference. Um, the interesting thing with AI um is that it gave us a little warning. Um, and you know, we've seen how that's evolved um right in front of our eyes in the sense that it came overnight.
Um, it's moved to um board agendas and it's become a geo- geopolitical priority. Um, I'm here uh not to debate when Q-Day is. Um, it's obviously uncertain, but it's coming soon. Um, and the migration lead time is not. Um, so essentially it's a transition readiness story.
Um, if anyone in the room remembers Y2K, um, you know, that was in 2000, but it's going to be the same thing. There's a particular date that comes. Um, the main thing with classical computing is that um we have uh algorithms like RSA, ECC, and ECDSA. Um, the thought is from a classical computing standpoint is that uh these algorithms do protect um uh underlying uh data today. Um, but they're they're vulnerable to quantum computing.
Just a few uh industry signals. Um, obviously Ethereum um has their road map to be full uh uh post-quantum by 2029. Uh, Google has set a similar deadline of 2029 as well for migrating to post-quantum cryptography and Coinbase established their quantum advisory council. Um, so the new post-quantum cryptography standards are here. Essentially, NIST in the United States has published three post-quantum cryptographic standards.
So, the question is not, you know, it is is there a solution? The the question is that the migration the migration timeline has started. Um, just quickly on regulation and policy. Essentially, regulation isn't mandatory at the moment, but I just wanted to highlight that there are road maps in place spanning from 2026, 2030, etc. And, you know, it's global.
So, in the EU, we have NIS2 and DORA, and across the world, they're following the same suit. Um, so the main point that we wanted to get to in terms of custody is that custody evolves with value. Historically, we had paper value, which needed vaults. And, as we progressed, we needed intermediaries, and today, we need control. So, that's it.
