Base Builder Friday: October 4, 2024

hey everybody uh super excited that you're all here this is base Builder Friday we do this every month the first Friday of the month the goal with this is really to share what's top of mind for me what's top of mind for our team uh and then open it up for questions so we'll have I think this time like 15 20 minutes worth of uh uh like prepared content maybe a little bit less and then we'll open up for questions so get your questions ready um save them till then you can uh you just raise your hand when when we're ready and we'll go from there so the thing we always like to start off with uh oh actually just a quick agenda um we are doing base uh first we're gonna talk about base and wallet and then coming together uh then we're going to talk about meeting Builders all around the world um and actually one second I'm just realizing let me just quickly fix this deck oh no actually we have it in here um put it back into presenter viiew sorry about that everybody let me share my screen uh yep so then we'll talk about meeting Builders around the world and then we'll do Q&A uh so we always like to start though with the mission and vision of Base our vision is the whole world on chain so that's a million Builders a billion users a trillion dollars of assets all on chain I'd like to say that this is the medium-term goal uh because I think we can actually go much further than here there are 27 million developers in the world there are five billion internet users there are hundreds of trillions of dollars worth of assets and so you know this is big hairy ambitious uh but I think it's something that we can accomplish in the next few years if we work really hard and we challenge each other and we push push kind of to to achieve everything we possibly can so that's the vision the whole world onchain those are our kind of proximate Northstar goals medium-term goals the mission the way we're actually gonna do is we're going to build a global onchain economy that increases Innovation creativity and freedom so when people are asking kind of what are you doing or people when ask people ask me what am I doing this is what I tell them because I think for too often we've been saying oh work in crypto and then immediately people jump to oh crypto is dis Specta of thing it's this thing where there's fraud it's this thing where people are just focused on making money and the reality is very different and that reality is shown by Builders like y'all every single day we're building a new economy a new economy that's going to work for everyone that everyone can participate in regardless of where they're born regardless of where they live regardless of what phone they have and that economy because it's going to be a Level Playing Field for everyone to access it's going to massively increase Innovation creativity and freedom because instead of people being you know kind of geolock to the their town or their city or their state or their country and the tools and services and economy of that local place they're going to be able to access the global economy and that economy is going to give them incredibly powerful new tools to run their small businesses to take better care of their family and to live a better life and so this is why we do what we do this is why I show up day in day out this is why so many of you all show up day in day out to build a global onchain economy that increases Innovation creativity and freedom so that's the why of what we're doing um we also have a strategy around this there's values you know we talk about these a lot like what does it mean to stay based um but you can kind of think about the strategy for base in four parts the first part is that we're building a really powerful developer platform this is what all of yall are using to actually build your apps or to to kind of create all the things that you're doing the second is on top of that developer platform we're nurturing a vibrant ecosystem of apps that give people a reason to be on chain so this is payments this is social this is gaming this is loyalty this is small business uh this is like literally every single thing that you can think of that's an app that you would actually want to use this going to go in that strategic pillar then on top of that uh ecosystem of apps we're fostering a really deep Capital Market this is the economy of Base uh that uh kind of connects everyone together lets transact lets them get access to best execution low slippage um you know most recently with things like usdc and Euro and more stable coins they're actually being able to use their local currencies uh but in a better more efficient way and all of that's going to be a better version of the financial system that all of us are a part of and then finally the only way all of this works the only way we can have a great platform the only way we can have great apps and the only way we can have a global economy is if we're building on a decentralized and scalable platform so that everyone everywhere can come on chain and so as y'all are doing your work I want you to be thinking about how does your work ladder up which of these strategic pillars do you contribute to and how can you contribute more and then how does that all connect up to our broader mission of bringing the world onchain and creating a global onchain economy that increases Innovation creativity and freedom and the reason why I like both our team and and the community of Builders to be thinking about this is if we're all rowing in the same direction and we all have a clear mental model of what we're building how we're building that's going to let us all work that much better together and the only way we can do this is by building together and so tell your teams about the mission tell your teams about the vision tell your teams about the strategy and think about how everything that you're doing every day is connecting to one of these pillars to push that global economy forward so that's the Mission Vision and strategy we start every base Builder Friday I start every all team meeting for the core team with this because it's so important for all of us to be anchored in this every single day now we had a really big why is this not going forward uh we had a really big uh update that happened this week um although it's been kind of like gradually happening internally for a little while and we shared it publicly this week and that is that um base and wallet are coming together and I'm going to actually be leading both of them uh working really closely with the base team as I have been doing uh in a in a you know kind of the founder Creator you know leader type role and then also leaning in with the wallet team and helping them accelerate the rate at which they're onboarding new people and giving incredible tools to developers to do exactly that this is really really exciting and the reason why it's so exciting from my perspective is you can think about base and wallet as a fly wheel right you know we can kind of start in the bottom here you know developers are attracted to base um and they're given tools to build great apps those apps create really useful things for people to do that's that ecosystem those useful things bring people into the ecosystem through wallet those users use apps Drive more activity and then that actually attracts more developers to build more apps and the faster we can spin this flywheel the faster we're going to onboard those million developers the faster we're going to onboard those billions billion users and those trillion dollars of assets and so we already been doing this a lot you know the bass and wallet teams have been working very closely together for the last two years basically since the beginning of bass but by bringing them even closer I think what we're going to be able to do is we're going to be able to um solve a lot of those kind of like really like broken windows like you know crickety problems that sit at the intersection of all these different layers of the stack where it sucks to onboard for developers uh where it's really hard to manage security for users all of these things that I think no single team has historically been able to kind of like put all the pieces together and make them just work we're now going to have the Basin wallet teams collaborating super super closely to make that work for all of you and what that should enable is it should enable all of the tooling to get better much faster so things like the smart wallet things like on-ramps things like identity that let you build better those are just going to accelerate and you can expect weekly monthly huge steps forward because those teams are going to be moving even faster and then the other side of this is it's going to let us bring more users into the ecosystem because now base can actually and I can actually start thinking about okay how do we run a consumer go to market here and how do we bring millions and tens of millions and hundreds of millions of users to all of the incredible products that y'all are building and my hope is that over the next year this kind of bringing together helps us spin this flywheel and we start to really accelerate and really start to take off in this growth curve and so on Monday I I talked with our team and I showed them why is this not working something is happening with my clicker but I showed them this chart uh which is that I really feel like we are at this final inflection point where we've been growing slowly but surely for almost a decade and that the day one for this next phase where we start going vertical and we start having exponential growth because the onchain products that all of y'all are building that all of us are building are so much better than the offchain products that's starting today and so I'm super excited about this collaboration I'm super excited about bringing these people together I'm also super excited about um shifting into a role on the coinbase executive team where I'm going to have more influence over the overall coinbase company strategy to help them invest in bringing all of coinbase users on chain all of coinbase assets on chain and in general the whole business on chain which I think can be a massive kind of uh light on the hill for all of the other businesses around the world who are looking how do we do this and are going to look at a company like coinbase that's a public company that's in the US that's trusted and regulated and be like oh if they can do it we can do it too and so thank you all for the kind words about this the last thing I'll say is that um I could not have done this we could not have done this without all of you like Bas is successful because of its people and you know I play a role as a leader of Base but there are so many other leaders so many of them in this room who have come together to build something really really incredible that is starting to change the world and it's at a small scale right now but if we just keep working we keep building we keep staying based we're going to create something that's going to completely change the world at a massive massive scale and bring the entire world on chain into this global onchain economy that increases Innovation creativity and freedom so that's the news that's bace that's wallet that's us coming together to spin that W flywheel faster bring more users on chain and accelerate the rate that all of yall are able to grow one other thing that we wanted to talk about today is that we're also starting to kind of like scale more broadly the the the way we're showing up with base and before I talk about what's happening I actually want to talk about where this started um which was the the Saturday after base camp uh many of you were at base camp last week or a couple months ago um and it was on a Wednesday and Thursday and then Friday was fast and then Saturday uh you know was also fast but lots of people went home myself included and that Saturday I was sitting on the plane and I had this feeling of wow we just distilled something down that is magical we brought together 400 people and we kind of like distilled that the essence of what it means to be based and what it means to start to build a community of people who have a shared Vision to change the world and coming out of that experience the only feeling like the primary feeling that I had was a this is powerful but B if that is limited to just those 400 people or just people in the United States or just people in any one region that's a massive loss and so now that we've distilled this down we need to figure out how do we take this ethos and how do we bring it to the entire world and how do we do that quickly so we can actually bring everyone into this global economy that we're starting to build and so I texted our team and on Monday morning you know I think a lot of people would have been like oh it's onchain summer we just organized this big event you know we should take a little break we should rest I put a 15minute meeting on everyone's calendar and I said hey y'all it's time for us to go Global we have something special here and for the second half of this year we need to think about how do we bring it to as many people across the world as humanly possible and that began what we call internally project starlink um but what's known externally as uh based around the world which is a combination of build aons in four different regions Latin America Africa India and Southeast Asia followed and finished with a world tour that I'm going to be leading with 15 people from the base core team where we're going to stop in all of those places we're going to bring Builders who actually won the buildon to meet us we're going to bring together the communities and those local cities and we're going to create these incredible moments that try and simulate what we had at base camp but for new people in a new place in a new culture so let me just quickly walk through what that actually looks like and what we're doing right now um So based around the world I just said it you know we're going to India we're going to Southeast Asia we're going to Africa and Latin America this is all kicking off with a buildon uh started on the 27th of SE 27th of September and it's going through October 13th um four Regional build aons and this was something that we really wanted to do uh we thought about doing something that was you know kind of global but it felt like we could get more connected to people if they could see themselves in the buildon if they could be like this is my buildon and by kind of going a little bit more geopacific that's exactly what we've seen happen um and so uh we now have communities that are running local build aons in all of these different countries um they have different branding they have different stickers uh they have different uh swag they have different you know materials and everyone is rallying around that um and they're using this as a moment to bring in their friends and to Rally around this them around this idea of thinking Global but building local and how they can actually build an onchain app in their local community that solves a problem or take existing onchain tools to create real world impact by bringing new people onchain and I I was just looking at internal metrics and um you know we track every day we're looking how many Builders have we brought on chain and uh in the first week we've already crossed 1,200 Builders Africa is leading the way Africa alone is about to cross 500 Builders who have signed up for this build of who have raised their head and say we want to make change in our local community we want to use this new technology to make our local community better and then when people do that we're going to have a 100 ether prizes 25 eth in each in each region to actually give folks more resources to keep building to keep investing in their local community keep using this technology to uh make their world better so the other thing that I think has been really exciting is that the buildon is all online but we've really been trying to get people to bring people together in person because there's nothing better than being in person in a room of Builders creating the future and the kind of crazy thing is that right now I think we have something or some event happening every single day of like Builders coming together let me just walk through these in Africa we have stuff coming up in Nairobi in Lagos in Ghana in Cape Town uh huge set of community hosts and partners who are actually bringing this together making it happen in India we have things in Mumbai and Bangalore and Delhi in aab in luckow and indoor uh we just brought on samama who started FBI who's an incredible leader who's now going to be working full-time on bringing all these folks together helping them build better uh in Southeast Asia we have events coming up in Singapore in Bangkok in Danang in Chang in yog yat yog yaka and quala lumur um again like so much energy literally every single day we have new people uh raising their hand and saying we want to bring people together and then in uh Latin America we have events in Mexico in Buenos irace uh and more more coming as well and this is just like man it it makes me so happy every single day because I see people posting videos I see people posting photos I see people actually bringing folks together and the level of energy that's coming from that is mind-blowing and so if you're hosting an event thank you if you're in one of these cities go attend meet other base Builders share what you're working on share what you believe in share how you're trying to make your change in the world and I'm confident that other people will see you they'll support you they'll lift you up and they'll help you be more successful so that's what's happening over the next you know kind of like 10 to 12 days we're going to close out this buildon we're gonna have a ton of local build days where everyone gets to actually meet and then that's not the end oh sorry and if you're not already involved scan this QR code uh this QR code uh will uh help you get started in the buildon there's a whole idea kind of board where we're we're having folks generate ideas that can kind of give people inspiration and then we also want to help people host more hack days uh so if you're uh someone who like really likes Community organizing likes bringing people together we want to help you run a hack day in your local community we already have all those ones that you should attend but if you don't see your city raise your hand we have money we have a toolkit uh we have all the things that you need to get Builders coming together to actually build the future and then after we do all this building after we we uh kind of bring all these people together we're capping it off with a world tour and this is something that I'm just like super super excited about because I'm actually gonna get to meet all these builders in person all the people who win these build aons I'm G to get to shake their hands I'm gonna get to listen to what's working where are their opportunities and how do we actually build better based tools build better based infrastructure that can actually make it possible for all of y'all to build faster so I'm going to start in Nairobi we're flying from New York to Nairobi we'll be there for a couple days then we'll fly from Nairobi to Bangalore we'll be there for a couple days then we'll fly from Bangalore to Bangkok we'll be there for five days uh to both do based around the world things and to participate in Devcon which is happening at the same time then we'll fly to Singapore we'll be there for a few days then we'll fly to Manila we'll be there for a few days and then we'll fly home uh and this is all going to happen about three weeks so we're we're setting out on November 1st and then we'll be going from there uh I've never done anything like this before I don't know if anyone has really done anything like this before we have a really incredible group of the base team coming together uh some people from the developer side some people from the wallet side uh some people from user research from uh engineering from product from design from marketing from business and we just want to be on the ground with all of you to to meet you to see you to learn from you to listen and to understand how we can help you build better because the faster that all of y'all can build and the better y all of that y'all can build the faster we're gonna be able to spin this flywheel and bring the entire world on chain so that is based around the world can't wait to see all of you in person and that's also the end of my prepared remarks and so we have about uh 20 minutes to open it up question I'd love folks to um just quickly say their name uh and where they're calling in from in the world uh and I think we're gonna start with uh Shar although you might have had an accidental hand I wasn't sure whether that was on purpose or not Shar okay accidental hand uh FY you want to go hey how are you hi you say hi everyone Hello nice to meet you um so Jay I'm from Chile and um I want to know what do you expect from a Buon in Chile like do you need programmers or do you need folks From Any Corner like artists or what is expected from a buildon uh great question yeah that's my great question and it's uh um a really important question and uh where I'll start is that there's a reason why we call this a buildon I think most people call things that look like this hackathons and a I think hack has this kind of word that's like you know it can be a little scary for for new folks but B hack really implies like historically developers and designers coming together to build products and when we think about Builders anyone can be a builder and when we think about the build Aon anyone can participate and so when you look at what the prompts are there's really two prompts one prompt is what I would consider a more traditional hackathon prompt which is build an onchain app that uses onchain tools to make an impact in your community and I think we'll see kind of the standard things there people are going to build new apps they're going to build social things they're going to build Creator things they're going to build games they're going to build all sorts of things um but then we have a second prompt and that prompt is use existing onchain tools to make an impact in your local community by bringing people on chain and that that is perfect for anyone who who's not going to build an app and we've seen people do incredible things we've seen musicians create music we've seen Educators build new educational programs and teach we've seen Community Builders start new communities we've seen onboard just like go out on the street and onboard people and actually in the onchain summer buildon we had this same prompt and we called it the unplugged category and we had so many great Builders participate and submit ideas and submit things that they did that we actually doubled the prize pool and we rewarded way more people because the level of creativity of traditionally excluded non-technical Builders was so so high and so if you're someone on this call who maybe might have looked at a hackathon and said he this isn't for me I want to be really clear the buildon is for you it is for you and you can build whatever you want and it can be technical it can be non-technical it can be music it can be art it can be creativity it can be an educational program it can be just onboarding your friends and family as long as you're bringing a based attitude as long as you're using onchain tools as long as you're bringing new people onchain that counts and want to celebrate you yeah because um for example here in Chile uh crypto is not very known or some people think about crypto and they think about these courses about trading and stuff and a lot of people have ask me about what what do I work on right what do I do and I would love to teach them about rainbow wallet about worldcast about farcaster about how people can can sell their work online and a build of on could be an introduction to crypto and that is not just about trading or I mean there are tokens of course but it's not just about that is it's a tool for someone to create things that are not centralized and yeah I would love like to teach like like to make a post on Facebook or something and gather people around in in a room and them about crypto about um wallets you know it's so that's why I was asking is if if a buildon is just like making an app or is about bringing more people into knowing understanding and and everything yeah both I love it go do it you got you for this opportunity um I'm very excited over of this change and um it's awesome to be you know on Wave uh so yeah uh I'm Alex I'm from rality actually um our team uh based in different uh parts of world uh our Co in Miami and I'm actually now in Ukraine uh so yeah uh what we do we transform the car rental business process from Web Two to uh web 3 and actually uh today uh we have a good news we uh already was added on base ecosystem so it's great and also be on Main and we have real cars in Miami so Jesse Yeah if you want you can just uh if if you was will be in vacation uh you can come in Miami and R the car using your crypto wallet using your coinbase wallet actually because it is very cool uh then you um do all your stuff on coinbase and just decide to rent car and you have opportunity to do this and actually we aim to take a step forward to create a car rental service this combined decentralization artificial intelligence and internet of things and we hope uh we we understand that all web three Community have a lot of services you know for example uh imagine on if really event you want a rent a car but you can't do it with crypto but right now you can not only buy a coffee with crypto but also rent car with crypto and rality has this opportunity so um we transform uh all uh these stuffs and we hope uh we can start a new uh I don't know how to say new way it not will be real world asset but it will be real world services and uh we hope we will do it with Bas and with you that's all I want to say okay thank you the the question uh the question is um yeah the question is uh uh did you uh uh see or what do you think about real world services such as rality um good question I I think that basically everything is going to come on chain and I was actually just tweeting about this this morning um you know if you look at like title companies the and Title Insurance massive broken process uh if you look at the way music Distributors pay artists Mass broken process there's all of these Legacy systems in our world that you know in many time many cases are like tens or you know hundreds of years old they haven't used software uh and they use money in governance and they're super slow and really bad for the people who are actually using them and I think what we're going to see happen over the next few years is that um people are going to figure out how to use onchain as a new technology platform for pushing those forward so I'm super excited about that and um thanks for the question uh heart pul harpal yeah I think that's yeah harpal yeah harpal you're from Mumbai hey Jesse um harpal com from Mumbai I just came back from from the based day uh based hack day in Mumbai I was the organizer was it all the it was great it was a room full of Builders I I excited them I inspired them to build on base um I talked about you know the smart poet the on train K the spay Master the everything everything about B and um yeah I gave out base names to a few people because they didn't have any um told them about the onchain score that came yesterday and told them how to leverage it how to build it um there's there's going to be a farcaster client being submitted to the to the uh buildon so look out for that amazing yeah so yeah it was it was a crazy room of Builders um expect some projects from based India um one tip I have for other people who want to host is that also look out for other people who work in ecosystem teams who support base right since the hackathon is open bring those people who are also working in ecosystem teams bring them let them talk about their project and let Builders Inspire for example I I brought in a person from router who was talking about the cross chain calls and how it makes easy to do things cross chain and supported base um so yeah that's one tip I also have slides that I um showed so if anybody wants it feel free to ask I'm happy to share the slides as well you should definitely share share say uh what up everybody my name is Taylor I'm the CEO of Blocky we are the te company um we are doing te based attestations oracles and co-processors um really we can get Explosive Performance out of onchain applications and we are launching first on base um I just have a quick question um I really want to be in touch with all of this Global onchain building and I'm curious if you guys at the base team or anyone has put together like contacts or ways to get in touch with some of these people putting together hackathon or build aons um uh even though you know I'm in the US I would love to kind of be a part of this thing I'm I'm a global Builder too so um yeah I love it well first thing is we have a telegram where all the builders are and someone can like will or or jiren can drop the chat in there I would appreciate that for sure and anyone here deserves to be in that telegram so excited to see you in there uh and then I don't know if we H oh actually the the best way I'm realizing to get involved and and will bins can uh clarify this as right is we actually just started opening per country language Channel or per country channels in our Discord so we now actually have a channel for every not every country but any country that anyone wants to start a channel for we will um uh start a channel for you and you can and people can start organizing and coordinating there um and it's actually a pretty good time to do that because I will give a little bit of Alpha and this isn't locked in but I will I will uh maybe tease and the team might hate me for doing this but I'll give a little Alpha the next version of Base around the world right now we're doing it in four regions and it's a good experiment where we're learning a lot I want to do base around the world but have parallel build aons in every single country in the world so if someone's in that country they can raise their hand and say want to run a build Aon in my country during that time we'll give them prize money we'll give them resources we'll give them like everything they need in order to run their local buildon they can run it in Discord and so we're just now starting to build the infrastructure for that but if I think about what success looks like by the end of next year it's like we're gonna have a based community in every single country in the world and people are gonna be building they're gonna be recruiting fellow Builders they're gonna be onboarding people they're going to be getting you know injections of resources and money and time and energy from the base Court team to help them build more successful and the best way that people can get involved doing that is to just do proof of work just show up be based stay based keep building do all that stuff so yeah join the Discord join the join the channels there as well as telegram yeah how can we get that uh TG link uh I think like jiren or will can share it or I can share I shared it I'll post it again so you don't have to hi JY what's up uh I'm from Indonesia uh we're I'm a big fan of you and also we're have a very big community of of Bas in Indonesia we have just had an event and as a team uh we have just come in uh for the soueast Asia uh based buildon and we have just apply so uh very happy to be able to talk to you today uh so here's my question Jesse uh like uh three to four months ago uh back uh ba base was a very big uh talk in my city and Indonesia and in my community right but but but after that uh it it quite going a bit slow I I I I probably know the reason because uh you guys are very focused also uh on a build build Theon building a building base into a building a product that has efficient and AF things but we also know sometimes uh a lot of people especially India and and a lot of other countri is that they kind of love memes right and I know you you H some of the memes also and and and and I I would like to hear from you uh seeing the hype and because it's one of the easiest way for people to get into the crypto and it's getting easier I even send some memes to my friend using coinbase wallet and it is so easy they are on work that easy and they get I mean like yeah uh you want some money I I I'll give you some mem so so so I got to also to introduce the to introduce them on that so I like to see your revews on how to manage like keep building on the on one side but also making sure the activity is keep going and making sure people hearting it by using memes H what what is you guys how do you guys promoting that because what it is one of a way that just the easiest way I I think that's all my question Jesse would like to hear from you yeah I love it a great question and um the first thing I'll say is that like I think that memes are um they've been a core part of the internet for a long time and uh I I just shared a talk I gave on memes in the chat as well um they've been a core part of the internet for a long time and I think we're kind of seeing now that we have this new kind of like Financial component of the internet that uses money like memes are getting supercharged again and so I'm really excited about that and in general I think they're going to be a big component of onboarding new people on chain and the kind of user Journey that you're sharing of like I sent my friend some memes and that onboarded them onchain and use coinbase ball to do it because they made it really easy with texting like that's exactly what we want and I think a lot of people are going to come in through that kind of like cultural touch point of a mean so I'm really really excited about that now in terms of kind of like the ups and downs of hype you know one of the things that um uh I think is is like very real in the crypto industry is that like the attention span of crypto especially crypto Twitter is like one day you know or like one week you know people go through these massive like ups and downs and ups and downs and at coinbase um you know Brian Armstrong CEO of coinbase he always says it's Never As Good As It Seems and it's never as bad as it seems and basically what that means is that like it's our job as Builders to be levelheaded to be calm to be cool to be collected and to be building the future through it all and so we're going to keep building incredible tools for developers we're going to keep nurturing this really vibrant ecosystem of apps we're going to keep supporting memes and and helping them onard board more people and we're not going to worry if one day the prices go down or one day the prices go up because that's mostly a distraction what the most important thing is is are we making progress onboarding people are we making progress building great things and are we making progress bringing the world into this new global onchain economy that's going to increase Innovation creativity and freedom all right thank you so much JC if you are coming to Indonesia do let me know uh we will set up a best awesome and he's um they're launching idx which is the Indonesian um which I think is going to be huge like local stable coins like idx are going to be like the next massive driver of innovation on chain and I'm so excited because idx is actually the the third one on base so it's the dollar and then it's the Euro and then it's idx it's the Indonesian Ruby and that is like such a leadership position for Indonesia in terms of kind of setting the tone for the rest of the world about how quickly we can move the world on chain so I just want to say thank you for being a part of this movement William um my name is Q I'm from Philly I met statuette last night at decentralized Philly um basically I'm a Psychology major so I study sociology and basically the interactions that happen in an economy that is Multicultural and that comes with its ups and downs its difficulties one of the main things that I focus on is knowledge SE sequestration so the fact that a lot of knowledge is hard to find and gate kep um a lot of people don't actually know about ux design jobs they don't know about where's the best place to learn about crypto because web3 is so new education is sequestered so in order to amplify that what we've been doing is we've been creating mental wealth Academy which is like a digital library and we're creating a magazine that highlights different Builders and different activities and events so things like learn web 3 Dow nouns Dow um base learn Sprint folio and things like that so we have like a big thing and we're really just looking to highlight other builders and people who are doing stuff we have about like 50 pages now in like our magazine we want to make it a digital one and basically that's that's what we're building and we're really looking for like developers just anybody who's interested in learning and stuff and um it's just really cool it's just really cool seeing everybody come together on Bas it's been the biggest I've been in crypto since 2017 this has been the biggest group of people who are all on the same page that's ever really happened besides nfts and the thing that we learned from nfts wasn't so much about buying the digital asset but it was really about getting connected with other people throughout the community so I really like what Bas is doing I really align with it and my last question is Jesse when are you going to put on the Kono kaii PF I love it someone had to ask um we we'll see uh I I I love Kevin oaki and um you know I know there was a little dust up a few weeks ago about Discord I'm glad we got their Discord restored um you know bases for everyone and uh we want to have their own Sovereign Place and so I'm glad that that's all uh restored and it sounds like the work that you're doing is awesome it's super important to educate people um and I don't know if F's still here but I feel like Hughes you're such an great example example like you're not a technical Builder but you know you have a psychology background but you're making an impact and you're helping other people come on chain you're helping direct them to resources you're helping solve real problems in the growing based economy because we are building an economy and there are going to be the same challenges that local economies have and Country economies have um and if we didn't have people like you who are thinking about how do we solve those problems we would be a lot worse off and so I'm just super grateful that you're showing up that you're doing that work that you're bringing people together and that you're you're right was that yeah um hi Jesse how's it going I'm just wondering um I'm really excited to hear about your new position with coinbase wallet and it's great to hear the data that you're picking up in terms of uh wallet identity and base names and things like that I saw yesterday that you were um you picking up an onchain score and I was just wondering how is the best way that we can utilize that as developers all this data that you're picking up is it through onchain kit or is that other ways yeah so onchain kit is a great way to use it um we're also working on on well I guess two thoughts one is we're trying to put as much data as we can on chain like literally associated with people's Bas names and so right now and and Tina uh Tina he I think she's FK pxls on Twitter um she just shared an example yesterday how she was um FK pxls uh she just shared an example yesterday of how she was pulling all the data from the base name to have like social profiles and skills and all that stuff and so we're putting everything on the B name as that we can and going to put it on chain because what we find is that on chain is the easiest place for people to build on top of um in addition to that for things that aren't onchain like on chain score we're we're working to get API stood up for them in the coinbase developer platform um so we'll have more news on that soon um if you're looking for like reputation data one thing I would I would recommend is the talent protocol and their Builder score that's what we use they bring in a ton of different signals and that gives you kind of like one data point that that's super useful I actually saw someone build like a under collateralized credit product with that the other day um which I think is really really cool because it's you know it's just like a hard problem that no one's really solved yet so um yeah A lot's going to be on chain we're going to be putting more apis in coinbase developer platform you should check it out may not know is actually both of my brothers live in Nairobi uh so my older brother lives full-time in Nairobi and my younger brother lives part-time in Nairobi and uh parttime in New York I have a little nephew that was just born in Nairobi with my my brother and sister-in-law um and so I've spent a lot of time in Nairobi uh uh and in Kenya in general in Zambia and Rwanda um uh and uh I think the thing that um I just feel every time I go there is oh my God there's so much energy and the people here are like so brilliant and kind and warm and energetic and I think that that energy is what we're seeing come through right now with based Africa literally if you look at the data based Africa is driving more builders on chain than any other part of the world and it's because there's this infectious positivity optimism uh energy that has the potential I think to to to completely change the world and so I'm not gonna be able to make Zambia this time but I'm definitely going to be in uh smart wallet and a myriad of things you can go know um I just had a question with um like the actual Pro like programming of a smart wallet because the the object that we used in of itself is a 6551 yeah so the way that we programmed that we can practically do the same thing with a 4337 right like right it should just be blanket so I don't know I don't know the direct answer to that question but someone on my team does if you're not already in the are you the the coinbase developer platform Discord um there's like a whole smart wallet Channel there and also Patrick Hughes might be able to reach out I think I saw him in here and he can can like route you into the right people to ask the right question there okay because I I think like we definitely can Sol you post on Twitter to ask a question like how to just take everything from an account and dump it to another account yeah yeah um so that we're trying to figure that out I love it that's awesome yeah well I think building some like a uh here's the here's the thing that could be cool building some tool that would let people migrate to the smart wallet either from their eoa using 7751 or no 7702 that's coming up or um from other smart wallets I think that would be really really impactful and I would personally be a big customer of that right now because I actually have a bunch of smart wallets I need to migrate um so sports we've done bracket tournament games on chain for street ball soccer games in Nigeria and for uh the FBI Builders uh for the Cricket World Cup so like my question pickle ball at farcon which I pickle ball pickle ball like so my my ask for everybody out here is like a fun thing that there's a lot of people who like different sports around around the world and if you're in a city where they they love a sport that maybe the rest of the world doesn't know about or doesn't pay attention to we can still help you guys create an onchain game where you could get your friends who have never been onchain before they can easily come and play bet with points they don't have to spend any money they can they can play have fun with their friends engage with the sport no matter what it is and win
