Hey everyone, my name is Pat. I'm devro at Bass and today I want to discuss signing your manifest for your mini app on the base app. Your manifest file is a configuration file that allows Farcaster clients to understand who owns the application. Without this file, your application won't work as a mini app. To get started signing your manifest, you'll need an application available at a secure endpoint and a base app account.
Next, you want to create a Farcaster.json file in the applications root directory under the hidden folder named well-known. From there, you now have two options to sign your manifest. In this video, we'll be using the base build preview tool in order to sign our manifest. Let's head over to the base.
dev site to get started. From the base builds homepage, I'll navigate over to the preview tool where I'll paste in our applications URL. I can see that my app loads. And if I go to the account association tab, I'll see that there are some missing fields. To get an account association object, I'll click the verify button and open in Farcaster.
This is where I can generate an account association by clicking this purple button and copying the account association object. My next step is to head over to my projects folder and add this object to my Farcaster.json file. My project was scaffolded using mini kit and so my manifest file is configured using the minikit.config file.
In more traditional Nex.js projects, your file will be under the well-known forecaster.json path. Without further ado, let's paste in our account association object. Once we've added the account association, let's save our file and then deploy our application.
Awesome. Now that we've redeployed our application, let's head back to base build and see if our changes have taken effect. So, back at the preview tool, let's do the same thing as before and paste in our URL. This will let us know if our account association has been set up properly and we have a valid manifest configuration file. Look at that.
Awesome. And that's how you can sign your manifest using the base build preview tool.
