Hi everyone and welcome to this video where we will be talking about Hermes agent. So what is this? This is a new harness that came out a few weeks ago. There's been a lot of excitement about Hermes. Um, it supposedly is a strong competitor to Open Claw and it supports a lot of what Open Claw already supports.

Uh, and so one thing that's really cool, shout out to the News Research team, uh, pretty I think familiar with a lot of the on-chain stuff that we are doing here. Uh, it's a team that's been building on chain for a while and so they've been very nice at making sure that the base scale PR is merged very quickly and so kudos to them for that. So we will be exploring all of that today today. I will be showing you how this looks. I will be hopefully trying to spin up a wallet and make a transaction on base.

Let's see how this works. Let's see if I can actually do it. So the first thing you do and not sure if I mentioned but I am sharing my screen from another Mac mini where I'm running this the the harness um, and I'm sharing it with my main uh, laptop where I'm sh- recording this video with you and I'm also talking to my agent from my Telegram. So just to show you the depth of this setup and how much I'm trying to create the best setup here for you to see everything. So What did I put?

I put harness. Sorry. It's Hermes. Okay. Uh, and so running Hermes already I think you will see that the the UI and the art is kind of cool.

You can see some of the available skills here. I have these wallet skills that I think I had before from Open Claw imports. See I bank grab open wallet wallet authentication. Uh, there are all these skills that already come with with Hermes and there is of course the base skill. So how do you get the base the base skill?

I will show you here. Uh, you do skills. Okay. Not search. Sorry.

Install base. That's it. I'm not going to do it because I already have the base skill installed but you know what to do. Uh, and so once that is done I've already hooked it up to my Telegram. Let's see if it will be able to spin up a wallet.

I'll open my Telegram and let's take a look. So this is my conversation with my little agent here on Telegram and I will um, ask it to spin up a wallet. Spin up a wallet using uh, CDP agent seek wallets. Let's see if it will be able to spin up a wallet on base. It's typing so this is good it's good sign.

It means it's it's thinking it's running. I'm running I think Codex 5.2 here. Uh, pretty decent model I have to say and also like I think the messages I've been getting from this agents already they are uh, concise they're short they're not too verbose. So I think the system prompt and at least initially now that I'm playing with it a little bit from from Hermes seems to be great although I have not tried or messed with Open Claw since you know a month ago.

So perhaps it has gotten less verbose. Uh, it seems to be running a little bit late. I'll take a pause here and wait for the response and then I'll be back. So after thinking for a while it sent me a message to get the OTP code. What it doesn't know is that it can get it itself.

I will say you can get it yourself. And as you can see here I'm not doing anything with my hands and it is opening the email to get the OTP link. And so after doing that for a little while it spun up and authenticated. It gave me an address on base and I will fund the address on base and we will try to make a simple transaction. Now that I funded the wallet with two USDC I will ask it to make a swap.

Make a swap from USDC to ETH. Let's see if this works. And so it came back to me with exactly my actual balance on base which is you know almost USDC and then let's make the swap. One USDC. It is asking about the amount and so um, I will let it set the slippage itself and make the swap.

Yes. Okay, let's see. And as you can see here it made the swap from one USDC to some ETH. Um, so this is great. Let's see what does the optional skill that comes with Hermes?

What does it have the base skill? What can the base skill from optional skills do? So it took it a little bit of back and forth for it to understand that we're not talking about Open Claw skills, we're talking about the Hermes skill. So I had both harnesses running on the same machine and I didn't migrate. I just kind of like duplicated both of them and so it got a little bit confused there.

Now that we know they're talking about Hermes skills it got it right. It got the base skills and so this is kind of like a skill that I PR'd yesterday to the Hermes repo. Again, shout out to the team for merging it very quickly and it has some like basic data fetching skills. Let's say that we want to learn more about the gas and the network stats. What's the gas [snorts] situation on base right now?

Say if good or bad following your analysis. Okay, so it got back to me with gas state and that it is cheap right now for swapping. These are like some I guess data analysis skills that come with Hermes itself. If you want to have some skills to build on base you can always ask your agent to uh, let's bring some base building skills. NPX I think it's skills@base/skills.

And so your agent will be able to run this command line and it will get some agents to build apps on base. And so let's see. Okay, again as you can see it gets confused between Open Claw and Hermes. So definitely do not recommend that you get them live inside by side, right? Like I've seen some people migrate fully and it seems to work for them but perhaps the context that I have in the conversation when my agent was using Open Claw or something here but it seems to be confusing Open Claw with Hermes.

So I specified that I wanted it to be on Hermes and so it got it right actually and it asked me if I if it should install a skill. So Hermes has some I think guardrails around skills which you know understandably this makes sense. Community skills. So yes, I will force the installation here. So it asked me if I want to force the installation of these let's do that.

Let's see how long it runs and I think that's it. Once we see the base building skills having been installed then you can use them as you wish to build applications. Not sure how it exactly force the installation but it managed to add these skills to Open Claw imports. So these are skills that were imported from Open Claw and as you can see here in the list of skills we have if you want to be adding builder codes to your app, if you want to be building with base account, connecting to the base network and a bunch of other skills to build on base. So this is where we are.

I'm very happy I've done this video. Great job from the News team and very excited to follow this harness and other harnesses. If you have any questions or anything you want to see, please comment below. See you soon in a new video.
