So in 1991 there was one website and today there are over 1 billion websites and the internet powers everything that you do on a day-to-day basis. It is probably how you got here. You booked your flights in your hotel online. You use it to respond to telegram messages all day. We are using it to live stream this conference to YouTube.
But if you went back 30 years and told your friends in 1991 that it was going to power every single thing that you do on a day-to-day basis, they would probably be a little bit surprised. How can one simple technological reol innovation cause such a revolution in how we live our lives? And I think everybody in this room would probably agree that that's kind of where we are today with DeFi and where we are with crypto. The first era of the internet, unified information, it's how you learn. It's how you talk to your friends.
It's how you meet people. And we think that the next era of the internet will unify money. Again, everyone here today believes that stable coins will probably become the future financial rails. From retail tomemes to businesses to institutions, there's an application for everyone. And we think that this will be powered by crypto.
It's why we're all here today. It's why we've all been to the past 10 stable summits that have been hosted across the world to try and tell this story to each other, but also to try and tell it to the rest of the world. We're really seeing a lot of that adoption today. Stable coins exist on all of the chains that we use, many different types of stable coins, different wallets, different providers. And part of that interoperability has been solved at the messaging layer.
You can move stable coins between between different chains. You can get your USDC from Ethereum over to Arbitum, over to base, over to Salana, wherever it is that you need it. You can have those stable coins, but liquidity is not global across all of the environments and execution um execution environments that we use. And that is our goal at Stargate is to unify the liquidity layer that sits at the heart of DeFi. This is what Stargate looks like today.
We have this Stargate V2, which has both native asset pools, which you can kind of see in the middle there. Um this is where the asset issuer themselves have natively issued the the stable coins. For example, you'll see Ethereum, Arbstrom, Base, Optimism, where Circle have issued USDC. We have liquidity pools on those chains. We then have Hydro, which I'll dive into a little bit later, which is our our bridging as a service module introduced with Stargate V2.
And then we have all of the different chains that we support OFTs on. Stargate today is live on over 80 different chains. There are hundreds more that we will be integrating. There are hundreds more that you have never even heard of and probably don't want to know about. Um, but since we launched Stargate V2 over a year ago, this is what our statistics look like.
We've now done over $65 billion in transfer volume. Uh, over half of that in the last 12 months since we launched Stargate V2. We support over 250 different individual independent asset issuers via the OFT standard, which is the omni chain fungeible token standard uh built on top of layer zero. This allows you to move liquidity or move your asset between different ecosystems for just the price of gas. It is and will be the best way to move money ever.
Um and then as I said we are on over 80 chains and are continuing to expand two more today hopefully three more next week. Um and many many more to come. So as I said with Stargate v2 we launched something called Hydra which is our bridging as a service module. If you have ever used barra chain or story or abstract or dench chain or any number of the chains listed on the next slide, then you have used or benefited from Stargates Hydra. Um, if there's one thing to take away, it is these three C's about what's what Stargate and what Hydra offers.
It is the canonical solution for new ecosystems. As I said, if you've ever been on Barchain, you've ever held USDC or Honey, which is a USDC wrapper, then you have used the USDC that has been issued by the Stargate protocol. We deploy a pre-native or the bridge version of the asset before the regulated asset issuers, in this case, Circle, can actually get to those chains. Obviously, each of these chains that is launching needs a day one bridge. The asset issuers cannot get there day one.
And that is where Stargate comes in and issues these pre-native assets allows these ecosystems to get access to liquidity on day one. Also very importantly, the USDC that we issue uh is under the compliance standards. It's deployed out of circles bridge USDC repo. It means that when an ecosystem gains adoption, gains liquidity, there's enough TVL for it to be interesting to Circle. We can then hand that USDC asset over to Circle.
It gets ripped out of the Stargate protocol and there's no need for any liquidity migration within the ecosystem. So it's compliant across all of the assets that we issue. And finally, uh it has a composable architecture. Anyone that was trying to bridge back in 2020, 2021 knows that some of the USDCs or the assets that you were receiving were not composable across different ecosystems. You always had to return down to Ethereum mainet before you could start expanding into other ecosystems.
With Stargate today, you can bridge between any of the chains that we connect with unlimited size. And so this is what it looks like. uh the chains that we've deployed to so far as I said there are over just about 40 Hydra integrations today um continue to continuing to expand many of the ecosystems that I think we're all excited about that are coming up will be using Stargate and Hydra to power all of their bridging and all of their liquidity and I think there are probably some names on this chart that you don't recognize but this graph is very very telling for how important this is for both ecosystems that we're launching in but also the asset issuers that we are supporting be that circle be it tether be it anyone else that we will be uh supporting over the next few months in December 2024 98% of the USDC volume that Stargate did was on chains where circle of natively issued USDC so again this is ethereum this is base this is arbitum this is optimism but as of April this year 40% of the volume that we were doing were on chains where we were the issuer of USDC we are helping circle to expand the velocity of USDC as an asset making sure that the liquidity is still available in these ecosystems that we're going to. And if you imagine a world where Stargate was not able to do that, where there was no USDC on day one, this will probably be captured by another stable coin provider or another issuer or another asset entirely. And this is also represented in the amount of USDC that we had issued.
Uh as you can see in December 2024, probably about I believe it was $25 million of USDC across these different ecosystems. In April, this grew up to over $700 million. And at our peak, we had over 2% of the USDC ever issued was held by the Stargate protocol, um, which was more than Hyperlid at the time. And so, what's coming up for Stargate is the expansion of Hydra. We've seen a lot of, uh, asset issuers who are very intrigued by our ability to get to new ecosystems day one and ensure that the assets that we are issuing in a compliant, composable, and canonical way are providing the day one liquidity.
um the day one liquidity support to these new ecosystems. And so the Stargate Dow recently approved the addition of EURC uh as a hydra asset. We'll be expanding that to the chains that it exists on today, Ethereum based Avalanche, but also to new ecosystems that are interested in having it. Um and what that means is that as we expand to many chains on the x-axis uh and many assets on represented by the different lines, the amount of pathways that we are supporting grows exponentially at zero cost to the protocol. There is no capital efficiency loss to the protocol and this is the only architecture that we've seen uh in interop that actually is able to scale in this way.
So very very excited to expand first to ERC hopefully in the next two weeks uh and then to many more assets over the next couple weeks and months. Um so yeah, our goal with Stargate is to become the standard for programmable money at a global scale. Uh come chat to me if you're interested in Stargate or Interrop. There's a few other people wearing this cool hockey jersey that we just got made. Uh so yeah, come find us.
Thank you.
