[Music] thank you so on the first Workshop we're going to be looking at impact assessment so retroactive funding is taken web 3 by storm it's no longer only optimism that is doing some of that work we're starting to see several other ecosystems like the filecoin foundation cell and other ecosystems looking into how to distribute funding using a retroactive system but impact assessment has been one of the main challenges that we have served especially coming out of the last uh optimism round so we're using the space of this Workshop to First analyze the optimism round as a case study and understand how can we and explore and this is also where I invite a lot of people that are not in the web 3 ecosystem but are part of the web 2 space and have been looking at these tools and these problems in these other contexts to join us so that we can explore first how to do we understand and how can we build Collective definitions of what is impact for a group like that is been one of the main challenges that we've observed in web 3 and particularly for optimism we still have not reached a collective definition of what is it that we are interested in funding and therefore we are not able to assess if the outcomes were positive or not and then on a second question that we want to look into is which tools Frameworks and mechanisms can we use to evaluate different types of impact whether that is qualitative impact uh and data that we're Gathering From the projects or it's quantitative impact and the way in which we're running the workshop is first we're going to start with a context setting of what happened what were the main challenges that we're faced in the last retroactive round of optimism second we're going to have a fishbowl discussion with members from radical exchange from Impact market so that we can look at how other people outside of the optimism ecosystem have been thinking of potential Solutions and then last we'll split into these working groups so that we can first look or like one of the groups is going to be looking at building consensus and definitions around what's impactful for a collective and the second one what are the tools that we can then leverage to assess and distribute funding that sounds exciting um and I think to some extent our Workshop um will build also on on top of that um and we specifically want to look at web 2 and web 3 funding infrastructures and um to understand and learn from each other U because I think we have done some things in in web 3 that U might not be as as known in um the web2 funding ecosystems but um the web two funding ecosystem is of course like so much older and um I think some of the things that um we are trying to do with the web the infrastructure that we are building has been like tried and done um over and over in web 2 already and like how can we actually like really um learn from each other um and find out where we have um done things similarly where we have done things uh differently and so the the workshop um is organized um uh with Andrew from drips um atam from octant and Tom from um uh fcoin public goods so um we will have um Us in the room but then hope uh that a lot of uh folks will join us to really um think about these um funding infrastructures and um think about specifically three different questions um that we will spend roughly half an hour on um and I will tell you that the first topic will be prospective funding and retrospective funding in web two and web 3 so in that way it's like a continuation um what Laura was just um explaining um and then the topic two what are the cultural and ideological barriers that prevent traditional open- Source software deaths from being open to receiving funding through crypto web 3 and the third topic will be compliance challenges fiscal hosts and bringing more OSS funders into web 3 so we're excited to welcoming uh welcoming there as many um as possible of you and discussing these uh these themes together thank you [Music]
