hey this is Dominic Solutions architect at the dfinity foundation we're super excited to be part of this year's East Denver but before jumping into the bounties I want to give you a brief intro to the internet computer and why it's such a powerful platform to build on the internet computer is a blockchain platform that allows to build full stack decentralized applications that are directly accessible from the browser smart contracts on the internet computer are called canisters and they contain webassembly code as well as state each canister can hold many gigabytes of data and computations can run multiple blocks because of webassembly you can use different languages to build your canisters for example rust type script python and motoku a language purposely built for the internet computer but I'm especially excited about the new features that have been rolled out in recent months that allow cross-chain applications so canisters can call web services and therefore RPC endpoints of other chains also canisters can securely sign transactions destined for other chains building on the last feature we also built a direct integration with the Bitcoin Network that allows canisters to hold and transact Bitcoin finally enabling powerful Bitcoin smart contracts so let's have a look at this year's five bounties we have for you all bounties fall under the theme of cross chain integration each bound team will have one winner and the prize money is 5K for the early stage bounties two to five the winning teams will have the opportunity to continue their work after the hackathon with a 25k developer Grant from the dfinity foundation so with that I hope you will have a lot of fun building on top of the internet computer and I'm really looking forward to your submissions
