[Music] good morning or better said GM this is where you say GM so there's like hardly anybody here the last few years we've done this we've actually had pretty packed houses for opening I think we didn't do a very good job of communicating when this was starting uh Justin good morning so can we uh do a sweep and just let people know that we're kicking this off I know I heard you over the PA but uh we are live streaming we are recording so it's not going to be a big deal if somebody misses something there is a lot of information that we cover today in Rapid Fire format because uh well there's just a lot to know there's some things we're not going to cover today uh that we'll cover at the opening ceremonies of the main event which is actually happening next Thursday the 29th at the other building so that's uh this is the bidle Hub welcome to it so all things Biddle I'm assuming that most of you that are here today are here because you're actually going to build a project cool um we'll buckle up 10 days of fun next Wednesday is the main event which is where more conferenc experiential things happen happen in the other building adjacent to this is called the Advent Center technically uh we call it the bid Hub next door is called the sport castle that's what we call it and it's the uh 1908 building in per the the complex so I'm John paler I'm your executive Steward of e Denver in spor Dow um I'm also the founder of this thing my co-founder Justin was just over here uh we've been doing this now for seven years so if you guys have been before welcome back if you haven't been before welcome you're about to experience something unlike anything you've ever done and uh we like it like that because you can't really get e Denver anywhere else in the world so this year is uh we always we we we have this buff aorn family and you'll notice that there's a person missing from this that we're going to add to the mix in a second or not a person december2 we are live at the submarine stage come check it out I can always depend on Justin to help me heard the heard the buff corns so if you don't know about buff corns anybody not know about buff corns yet there's a few of you okay so we have this spirit animal here the way that it works is it's a buffalo and a unicorn it's the community Vibe or the strength of the Buffalo and it's the magical Fantastical Vibe of the Unicorn mixed together and we have a buff aorn so it's like our fun little meme that we do here but we've got some other characters here uh last year was the year of the spork so that's sporky right there two years ago is the year of the buffay which is our little baby Yoda looking dude over there and then we've got the buffer corn here which was 2019 and then the peg a buff aorn was 2020 and the spork Marmet was 2020 wait 2021 right so 2022 was sporky excuse me 2022 was buff way 2023 was sporky and here we are in 2024 and I'll introduce you in just a second to the year of Mr Spork whale okay but a little bit about me so I've been in the crypto space full-time for what feels like an an eternity uh 2016 um I actually was introduced to Bitcoin in 2013 and then I had a happen stantial anybody else hear that somebody's playing Queen all right well I guess I'll just talk over the music um that's really interesting uh I was at a conference in San Diego California for technology professionals and I had a happen stantial meeting with this really strapping Russian guy and um his name was Dimitri and he started telling me about his family and where he's from and you know he was living in Canada from Russia and uh you know we we just had some commonalities became friends didn't really talk about much in the way of crypto or blockchain and uh a little bit about Bitcoin but not much this is January 2014 okay so I stayed in touch with him on social media and we became friends and then I started seeing this thing about ethereum next Generation platform for smart contracts and I got a little curious about it and then I saw the the the the ethereum sale and like them going public with this and I was just blown away by it I was like what like how what do you what do you mean tokens and doing all this stuff so I started reading about it and I I emailed him and I said hey I've got some uh use cases I'd be interested in uh talking to vitalic about would you make an introduction to me and he's like well I mean I can do that but like I can't guarantee anything because he doesn't even really talk to me half the time so uh he emailed made the introduction within 30 minutes fatal had emailed me back and like within two days we were on the phone for an entire afternoon talking about use cases and my background actually comes from employment systems in HR Tech and you know we were talking about like payroll automations and onchain you know all sorts of interesting things in hindsight my initial use cases were pretty terrible honestly and balic was incredibly gracious and just sort of helping me think through kind of you know these things and I basically went back to the drawing board for about a year and um had in the middle of that you could say my red pill moment you call it a green pill moment where I basically had the like oh oh oh wait holy everything's going to change wait I'm in the wrong business what am I doing like so I had this like almost existential crisis you could say where I was like it wasn't like I wasn't even like confused I'm just like no I'm just GNA go that direction so I basically everything that I had built I'd been an entrepreneur at this point for almost 15 years and I basically just take the next 18 months and and exited everything that I had built and I took everything that I had collected from that and parlayed it into into web 3 and that started in 2016 and then I went full full full-time with no distractions in um summer of 2017 and then we needed to hire some smart contract developers and there weren't any in Denver and I was talking to the Meetup Founders about that and our Meetup had grown a lot I mean it went from like 15 people in 2016 to like 4 or 500 people in the spring of 2017 and um I'm like well why don't we just like teach some people how to do that I don't know how to do it but like we could bring some people people in and I had talked to vitalic and I had talked to a bunch of other people like Joe Luben previously and and um I just called him and said hey if we threw a hackathon would you guys be supportive of that and they're like yeah sure and so we did and the first year of eth Denver was 1500 people from 40 countries it was pretty wild we struck a nerve and whatever it was about the Colorado ecosystem there's a lot of people are like Denver's boring and it's cold it's like if you've been outside it's like 70° today it's beautiful and there's a a really big openness to Colorado and the culture here where there's not a lot of Dogma there's not a lot of people are very open and and really pragmatic about their social political views and so it's just a really good place for web 3 Innovation and development so we've continued to build it last year we were at about 25,000 people here at National Western and we're expecting a similar Siz crowd so um welcome to e Denver so we are we are we are thrilled to do this I'm going to go through a little bit of history of e Denver and why we do what we do um how we architect things from a game design standpoint is very intentional the fact that the tickets are free the fact that um we incentivize certain behaviors activities whether it's bidding or you know mentoring or speaking or whatever um there's reasons for doing all the things that we do that are I mean incredibly intentional but it's about protecting an ethos okay so um I'll get into that in just a second but before I do I'll just kind of skip through what we're going to do as far as covering the agenda we have a very sort of uh decentralized what we call stewardship um organizational structure so I'm the chief executive Steward but that doesn't make me more important than anybody else I have a lot of respons responsibility to make sure things get done but we have area stewards you might think about these as like working groups in Dow Dow lingo where our stewardships are are led by a team of people who are empowered to make decisions and execute based on certain areas in needs of the event and so our stewards will actually talk about a lot of the things that we're going to go through so I'm going to go up through uh welcome in our history and then I'm going to pass it off to our team for event schedule and going through the rest of the things that we need to do so let me introduce you to the spork whale so one of the things I find most smug about crypto events is this notion of VIP I really hate it I find it really annoying um you know all the really important people who want you to know that they're important because they have a VIP badge okay well in the context of Spork Dow anybody can become a spork well and you can earn Spork tokens and if you have enough of them you can stake them and get a free Spork whale badge which is essentially our version of VIP so it's not about economics it's about contribution so from a social standpoint you can come in build create contribute and earn your way to a status that actually differentiates you it's not about economics or importance or anything like that in fact throughout the week you will find that um we're giving away free upgrades to Spork whale as well just for why not okay we're going to do it you can also buy a spork wellet if you want 2500 bucks um we do pay wallet we do set a value at it but you don't have to do that to get it and actually we don't even have that many people to buy them we set it up for that way and it's just like we give it we make it available it supports the community but it's not something that's important to us okay so the spork whell was our version of trying to say I'm a big contributor okay so thinking about being a major contributor to the community we quantify that through aggregation of Spork tokens so every event season we have a distribution of Spork tokens that comes to the community your attendance here is earning you Spork tokens just for sitting here and then other things like speaking bidding a project um being a steward being a core team member whatever it might be there's there's a whole distrib distribution waterfall that exists to reward your contribution because we see this contribution as patronage now if you know anything about Cooperative law many of you probably do not I happen to know more than I'd like to know about it because we in innovated a legal rapper to wrap Dows in a Cooperative legal framework here in Colorado so at Opening Ceremonies I'm actually going to talk a little bit more about that but for purposes of today there's a concept in co-ops called patronage and patronage is the mechanism by which we give back profits of the community and we use the spork token as our patronage token to determine how much of that profit you're going to get when the time comes now being here today you've officially consummated your membership in spor Dow congratulations and now you as a holder of Spork and as a member of Spork you're now when we do a profit distribution you're entitled to that money and it's not a security How You Like Me Now okay we are the world's largest liveaction web 3 experiment we're literally doing this right now we're probably the world's largest Act of doubt and how many other Dows have you actually had an annual meeting where you get together and talk about stuff we're literally doing it okay so ongoingly we're going to continue to develop our community our mechanisms our methods our incentives our design to create sustainability abundance an opportunity for our entire community and we want to continue to grow it so again welcome so um get to know the spork whell become a major contributor there's lots of things that you can do grab somebody who's wearing one of these shirts one of these hoodies this is our you know Perpetual sort of Colorado psychedelic hoodies um we do them every year because we like it and it's fun but uh somebody wearing one of these hoodies as a steward you can ask them hey I'm curious to know more about this there's also a sportd dow Booth that's up here in The Concourse so if you have curiosity around sportd some of the legal stuff or whatever a bunch of the B stewards will be up there taking turns answering questions throughout the week so feel free free to come by and say hello all right so the history culture and Ethos let's let's talk about this okay so we're free event I've been literally told that I'm crazy for throwing an event for 20,000 people for for free dude even if you charge like 50 bucks man think about how much money you could make okay well I don't give a about that the minute you charge even $10 for a ticket the psychology and relationship of that person's attendance changes you're now a customer I now owe you something you paid for entrance when you come here for free feels a little bit different doesn't it I don't have any expectations from you you don't have any for me you're coming here looking for Creative collisions maybe build a team do something fun learn something something new I don't care what you do I literally don't care there's so much to do here you can get busy for weeks and we're only doing this for 10 days this is a journey of exploration of learning of community building of friendships of creativity of expression choose your own Venture you do you okay the last thing I want to do is have somebody over there tapping their foot at me because they didn't feel like they got their money's worth so guess what it's free it's always going to be free we also don't believe in Pay Walling education tomorrow morning we have a thing called Camp Biddle kicking off at the Colorado State campus adjacent to the National Western Complex here that we're doing a a a a 10day intensive boot camp learning how to build in web 3 for free okay if you were to price this out and what other people would charge for this you're probably looking at5 $20,000 because oh it's really high value and people are willing to pay for it whatever dude I got the world's best Educators for 10 days who are going to educate you if you're serious on learning how to speedrun ethereum build whatever you want and we're giving it away okay why because the purpose of e Denver is Education First and then we got to do it together collaborate and that equals the Biddle Spirit bidding creating you expressing your unique creativity in a way that's meaningful for you along with your community is dynamite there's nowhere in the world that you're going to see this much creative Collision happening in one space at one time and I guarantee you that every person person sitting here is going to have an experience at some point a moment that not only made everything worthwhile it's worth it it'll change your life I guarantee it and I know this because I've been doing this for this is my seventh year doing this I literally feel old I probably have aged 20 years and crypto does that to you but um I can guarantee you it will change change your life if you go into this with that kind of intentionality okay big tent we also don't subscribe to Dogman and here okay now ironically um a lot of people would say who are in crypto yeah I'm not political man I don't really care about that stuff but what you're really saying is I don't really subscribe to the whole you know Left Right that we got to deal with in today's current political scheme but I will tell tell you we're all very political the tools that we have in web 3 are very political we care deeply about things as human beings and to me it's not left it's not right it's up okay when we come together and we go up we go up together and in order to do that we need creative intelligences we need diversity of of creativity we need different viewpoints we need all sorts of stuff now this is where you know meritocracy meets creativity in a way where you put it in a room and it can just go crazy wild and it's insane to watch but everybody's welcome here I don't give a where you come from what you look like what your background is I do not care everybody's here with some latent creativity begging to be expressed and here is is the place to do it and now is the time if not now then when when are you going to do it what are you waiting for you're welcome to wait till next year we got a a lot of people who come their first years and say well maybe not this year I'm not going to build I'm going to check it out and then maybe next year fine you do you don't care do it when you're ready but be open okay and open the door for the next person be welcoming be curious meet people there's nobody here trying to sell you anything so it's not like a typical corporate you know conference where it's like there's always some ulterior motive you know what are they going to sell me I don't really want to go to the booth man because they're going to try to sell me yeah we call it the schages like fun for fun when we open the the expo hall next door next week but really everyone's here for the same reason there's an authenticity about e Ember because of this big tent that you just absolutely cannot replace now finally the removing barriers to entry okay we've talked about this it's free we've talked about this education component we've talked about the scol I mean the scholarships we put out we we give real money away to get people's butts here you know fly them in put them up in a hotel like we can't do everybody of course I apologize I wish we had more money to to bring everybody in and just remove all barriers but it's impossible but the point is is like and you might wonder like well what do you guys get out of it what do you want well let me tell you what motivates me okay I've had the Good Fortune to be an entrepreneur for 25 years and you're like wait how old are you dude like I know okay I'm old enough I've seen a lot of and I will tell you that for me I live a life of creativity an integrated life I love my life is it hard yeah but I love it and I can't think of anything that I would more rather share with a community of like-minded people than having a place to create to build to express in a way that's meaningful for you because here's what I know this pseudo political movement that we've got going on here in crypto the future of humanity depends on us and I say that with real seriousness decentralized Technologies are going to be critical to the advancement of humanity and the things that get built here matter not just for exits and up only right we all like those things me too but like the impact of what we build here this week will change the world it's not an if or could it will and we just have to be diligent and intent on that end so I'm here I've built this our team builds this big tent and blank canvas so that you can come and have that opportunity and we don't need anything from you in return we don't care we just care that you hold the door for the next guy or gal or person and that you take that opportunity seriously and express your best creativity okay that's it all right who's next Jason all right well Jason Lee if y all don't know please give him a round of applause he is our lead bidd Steward so this entire venue is under his purview um the nooks the crannies the the the the signage the chairs everything um he's going to spend a bunch of time telling you all the logistical stuff and a lot of the nuances that that are here in the meantime I've got a spork right here if you don't have one we have them at swag store this is our sort of um utilitarian utensil that we believe is one of the most important figurative and literal Biddle tools in the world so bidon thank you very much we love you we appreciate you enjoy the week and we'll see you around good morning thanks John uh so who's excited to bidle this week actually the next 10 days so um let's talk about what bidle week is so ble week is very educational focused it's about the premise of communities of communities so every single person here has something that they're interested in whether that's Esports or maybe it's designing art or maybe you are into public goods you have your own community and so eth Denver becomes the place where you come together and you talk about the things that are important to you and you work on solving problems that everyone is facing um it's also a place for the local community of eth of Denver to C together and uh Biddle it's a network of uh fellowship and it's about really what we're really here for which is building projects to then showcase to our entire Community um and then on top of that there's about 400 events that are happening all around Denver that you can participate in so bidle hub for eth Denver specifically we have two specific venues uh bidle Hub which is the venue that you're in right now this is all about building mentorship there's skills Labs presentations workshops mini Summits if you go that way where you hear the sound coming out that's the DJ chill room there's an art gallery if you're into working on technology and merging that with blockchain you can do that with the maker space um and then if you are participating in Camp bid which John talked about about a moment ago that's happening over at the seper which is uh about a half a mile away and that's where Camp Biddle is happening uh if you have any questions there is the E denver.com schedu and that contains all the information and it's constantly being updated right now so bid week which is this week February 23rd through February 29th um this is all about technical presentations workshops bidding and then the hacker houses and the dinners and the Gatherings that are happening all around Denver the main event which comes on starts on February 29th through March 3rd that's happening both in bidle Hub here and then if you go up the stairs out the door across over into the Sports Castle there's going to be more presentations more workshops more building activations mentorship and and and more then there is the mountain Retreat so after we've done all this building together we now need to kind of relax get away so we have the mountain Retreat that's happening in Breen Ridge um there's skiboarding snowboarding there are even hacker houses up there and there's dinners and that's just kind of a way to to relax and have fun so this is our wonderful map that was designed by our uh Steward Sergio and this is kind of just showcases how vast e Denver is this year so everything that has to do with bidle is in the top right corner which is there so bid Hub contains um you know the biggest points I would say are obviously of registration you have the submarine stage which is the stage that we're on right now there's another stage over there which is the Trident stage and then over in the far corner you have the Neptune stage um The MENTOR desk is directly behind this they're in giant bright orange uh signs and then there's right behind this there is the mentor skills Labs so the skills Labs is where if you if you came solo and you're looking for a team we will have uh mentors set up to be able to do team formation skills and then we also have things that are related to like UI ux design review um smart contracts Mentor one to1 sessions uh and different things and I'll be talking about that here in a moment so in bid Hub I just want to note that there's five core spaces so you have registration the upper ring you have bidle floor which is what we're down here you have the three stages and then you have the paddock um on The Concourse that's where you can find the buff aorn merchandise store the buff corn Lounge uh food restrooms and the connect lounges um for the three stages as I said this is submarine Trident Neptune and then down on the bidle floor we have we have the mentor desk skills lab building tables whiteboarding um some of our some we have some amazing sponsors that helped facilitate scholarships this year to be able to provide about a 100 100 plus thousand to get more Builders from around the world to eat Denver to build and then there's also blockchain 101 The Paddock has the art gallery Banker space DJ chill room and blockchain arcade um and then specifically up in the buff aorn store which is right at the entrance uh we have limited supply of vintage eat Denver swag um we also have uh the legendary uh buff aorn outfit which Josh is hey Josh He Josh has the buff aorn so you could buy a buff aorn and if you show up on the opening ceremony um or actually sorry I was March 2nd um you can win something special all right emu emu is gonna come up and talk about Biddle and Biddle quests emu is our Tech Steward and uh take it away buddy what else you got man thank you um let's go next what's up guys um so I'm Kevin I go by emu I'm the lead tech Steward for eth Denver um so we got something pretty cool this year seems like a lot of the ecosystem is circling around this Quest idea so we kind of came up with the concept of bid Quest really to elevate the engagement and and just really like the the core discoverability within the community of communities that we have um sorry I'm also out of breath because I've already done like 15,000 steps so just bear with me uh but so dog fooding isn't like really in our core DNA it's something that we we always want to make sure we're using the tech that exists the newest stuff the latest stuff and Quest is an extension of this belief to really just tie that all together um so it evolved from the the food trucks that we used in the past um but it's more than that this year so we teamed up together with clave summon iyk to just bring a special flavor to the quest that the the whole Market seems to be circling around um so kind of what does that mean so uh to to kind of power this ecosystem we have this coin called bidle right and you can engage with the community and grow together um and to earn this you're actually complete like completing digital and physical quests that actually pay out in this token um so as you're engaging with these quests the people the sponsors and activations you're earning the Biddle and then really from there it's it's what do with that Biddle next right so it's going to be powering the economy for the food trucks uh the bidd shop Redemption Center which has you know one of one real rare swag um and then also the eth Denver merch store um so yeah this is our flavor of quests definitely want you to participate start start getting involved anywhere you see a puck or any information um ask any stewards and we'll guide you through the process and have a good time um but that's all I got for quests let's see who's coming up next for bathon tracks and judging thank you all right now the fun part let's talk about bidding what it looks like for this year in regards to tracks judging and prizes so the bathon has is shaped in essentially call them four stages as a bidler you want to look like what are the what are your goals do you want to build something alone do you want to build something with a group of people uh are you trying to focus on public goods nfts you really kind of want to think about what is it that you want to accomplish um e Denver's ethos that John talked about is the premise of Education Plus Community equals bid so around you at e Denver you're going to have access to thousands of different people to collaborate with you'll have access to sponsors that created the technology and then you have you as the people to kind of work with each other to come up with Solutions so there's the whole Biddle aspect once you're done bidding we then transition into the judging part so the judging part there's two different types of Judges you have sponsor judging which has to do with all the bounties that are sponsors have put up and then there's E thers Track judging which has everything to do with the the main core tracks of e edver bathon after the judging Sunday on Sunday turns into basically the presentations of the best projects that have come out of eth Denver so and then there's also a community feedback uh loop where spor down members are going to come down on the floor and they're going to walk around and engage with you as Builders to see what it was that you built and if they are a sportd down member they're going to have votes and they're going to be able to vote for their favorite projects the best projects that come out of that will be doing a quadratic voting round collectively between all community members so if you're a sportd down member you can participate and there's a a million in uh Spork that we're going to be Distributing through quadratic sport uh quadratic voting so how do you qualify for prizes this year Well to qualify one you have to submit a project you have to present your project um and you have to physically be in attendance at e edver so this is a full on in real life hackathon um if you're not here you can't submit a project uh you have to you've already anyone that's physically in the building you've one already checked in gotten your badge you've already been checked into Dev folio now the next thing to do is to form your team and then submit your project um and and then you'll be good to go so uh if you haven't come and you're watching this online and you're going to be cing someday in the in the coming days you just need to check in get your badge check in at Dev folio by March 1st at 10: a.m. and you'll be good to go um you cannot steal other uh hackers code and you cannot use code that you used previously from some other hackathon um and then the biggest thing here is that you must submit your project um during the main event sometime between 8:00 p.m.
March 1st and 10 March 2nd to qualify in the bleon there are five different tracks this year for E edver we have the identity and privacy and security track so this is going to get into if you're working on uh wallets ZK rollups onchain privacy auditing uh security software you would put your project in there there's infrastructure and scalability so if you're going to start working on things like l1's l2s uh Dev tools you have you have that track you have the D nfts and gaming tracks so if you're you want to work on lending protocols digital art uh pfps blockchain games you would submit your project there thousand communities so digital communities tokenomics governance budgets Bridges uh things like that and then there's also the fun one which is the impact in public goods uh so that's going to be all focused on un sustainable development refi undeserved communities um you would submit your projects there then there are the sponsor bounties so if you've been to the website or you've been to Dev folio there's 115 different uh bounties available for you that becomes kind of cumbersome to try to find so we rolled out Bounty categories so you will find bounties that are based off of one of these five uh categories so we got feature Bounty launching an MVP on testnet or mainnet meaningful open source contribution early stage startup or web3 security bounties so every single Bounty that's on there has one of these categories and then on the site it lists all the criteria that you would need it's also going to list like what does it look like to succeed what does it look like um what are your uiux requirements how are you being judged so this year we rolled out um basically a bounties Council it was consumed of about 12 different people ranging from brand new developer to OG developer in the space they read every single Bounty everyone provided feedback and then that feedback went back to the sponsors to make sure that it was super clear uh and and fit so let's talk about team formation so we have made some adjustments as it relates to team formation this year so e Denver if you want to participate where you're presenting on one of these stages cues Saturday and Sunday you have to do the E Denver Tru so that premise is that you're choosing to work on one single project as a team um you're working on up to 10 different sponsor bounties and you can have a team size of two to four or if you want to find someone that is a uiux developer or sorry uiux designer developer they can join your team and you can become a member of a team member of five so we're really trying to push it so that we have really goodlooking projects this year uh so consider that now if you don't want to present on a stage um you have options where you can just focus on sponsor bounties uh you can do this as a solo Builder or you can do this as a team so teams that are only focusing on building projects that are solving sponsor bounties you can do a team of two to four or you can be a solo Builder but if you want to present your project in front of everybody on an e Denver stage you're going to have to become a team of two to four or or team of two to five you're going to choose one project to work on and you're going to submit up to 10 you could submit up to 10 bounties you could work on a project that has no sponsor Bounties in it um that's totally option but uh it's up to you how you want to do that um but the biggest thing here is you cannot be on multiple teams you have to choose um one of the biggest reasons why we have the eat track is we believe that in order to BU build the future it we have to do it together and if we're just doing it solo it's going to take us a lot longer to get there whereas if collaborative effort we have better voices in a room and we can see better projects come out of it so who judges the bounties and the tracks so sponsor bounties are all judged by sponsor judges so they have formed teams that compose of technical UI ux and business um they have laid out the criteria that they have for their bounty and you can find those both on E denver.com and also on Def folio and then when it comes to the E Denver track Community judges um these are about 50 people within the community that are primarily technical focused um if they are an investor they have a technical background so um they understand things and then there's uiux and then business and then there's a a standard set criteria of like wow factor doing things and that's all listed up on the website as well so when is e Denver tracking so this is a little bit different so if you've participated in years past you're probably used to the hackathon ending on Sunday uh this year because of the size of our event we've changed to make it so that the hackathon now ends on Saturday so March 2nd Saturday from 2: pm. to 8 p.m. is when track judging is happening on the stages um you will be responsible for doing a tech technical pitch it's a 2-minute short form pitch with a demo um and then you'll want to stay in the space uh because if the technical judges have questions they will call you aside and that's when your time will be there to answer questions that they might have when it comes to the top 15 judging this is going to happen on Sunday um so this gets into the top 15 technical pitches so from Mar on March 3rd from 9:00 a.
m. to 12:00 p.m. we're going to have practices so we have a various group of people that have been successful at raising capital in pitching in front of people that are from a technical background to work with the top 15 teams um during the times of 9:00 a.m.
to 12: p.m. we will have a catered lunch for the top 15 teams and then we will transition into the top 15 presentations that will happen on the main Atlanta stage in the sport castle and that's from 2: to 5 and that's going to be a longer form uh presentation with Q&A with the uh celebrity judges so that's going to be a 4 and a half minute technical presentation and two and a half minutes of Q&A with the technical judges from a prize perspective right now we're sitting at about a million dollars in sponsor prizes and up to $10 million in Investments you have access to a billions in capital from over a thousand accredited investors um there's monetary track prizes there's the celebrity top five recognition and then we also have the PRI the claiming prize for this year so all the funds that sponsors have for bounties are all sitting in a Nosa safe that eth Denver has so you could be sure that all that money um you won't get rugged it's it's all in there um and so the clay period for this year starts on March 3rd at 12: p.m and ends on June 15 2024 at 5:00 p.m.
uh if you're an international res resident um you do need to be aware of the tax part um you might need to file for an itin um so any income that you earn from sponsor bounties is considered individual income uh and so there is a tax part to that because we're of the uh laws so um important miscellaneous details so some some people have uh come up with different concerns that they've had in the Years past and so we we've addressed these this year in that mentors that are supporting Builders are only here to support Builders so you don't have to fear that you're talking to a mentor that's also working on the same Bounty submitting a project uh that's working on the same Bounty that you're competing against uh so mentors are just going to focus on mentoring and guiding you judges are doing the very same thing judges are are not going to Mentor you they're only here to evaluate your projects um and then and for sponsors that have bounties and that Builders submit projects to if they end up determining that no one won they have to provide reasons they have to provide specific details um so that way you'll have a feedback loop into understanding why you might have one or not one um chat GPT from an AI perspective is not considered a team member um but you can certainly use it uh for for your for your projects um and then the other biggest thing and just want to reiterate this is that you and your pH you and your team have to be physically present and checked in by March 1st at 10: a.m. to present to judges on March 2nd um so the other big thing that we're we're working on this year um that has come by changing things over to Saturday is the biders what's next mini Summit so once all the projects are due at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday the entire Biddle Hub is going to turn into to this mini Summit which is really focused on exploring three different Pathways so as Builders you're primarily here building and you don't really get to go and enjoy some of the content that happens on the stages so we've kind of curated content around how do you go from bleon to forming a startup how do you go from bleon to thinking about the future of your work how do you go from bathon to thinking about communities of communities so there's going to be specific talks and panels and convers ations about how do you fund projects how do you develop a great uh web 3 Community how do you go our Dows dead like how do you form a DA like sport Dow like John was talking about earlier how do you um how do you actually take your product idea and get product Market fit so you'll hear from different CEOs and CTO within the space about how they did it so we've kind of created content so that way you guys have um some insights into it and so that will be happening between 10:00 a.
m. to 2 p.m. on March 2nd so s Saturday March 2nd dates and times so this is judging Saturday so 10:00 a.m.
your projects are due 10:00 a.m. is when the summit begins 1 p.m. is um when we will announce all the track judges uh so if you participated in submitting a project to e Denver will announce what what time you'll be presenting on each stage uh 2: p.
m. is when the summit ends and then 2 p.m. is when judging will begin for the various tracks so I can tell you that the infrastructure and scalability if you submit to that project we'll be presenting on this stage if you submit to the identity privacy and securities you'll be over on the Trident stage and then if you submit to the Defi and nfts you'll be on the Neptune stage we will go through all the all the teams that submit to those projects first and then we will then transition over into the other projects which will happen sometime between between 4:00 to 6:00 p.m.
um and then it will be completely done at uh 8:00 p.m. judging on Saturday and then by 10 p.m. we should have a list of the top 15 projects that the judging the community of Judges have selected um and then in addition that to that we they will also be selecting two additional alternates um and the purpose of the alternates is that we want to make sure that the people that are staying on Sunday that we have a 15 we have 15 great projects to show so if you're only coming and you're staying till Saturday and your entire team leaves we will alter even though you made it into the top 15 we are going to choose another team to take your spot to then present on Sunday so that way we can see 15 great projects um then Sunday March 3rd uh this space turns into the community uh fair so if you want to participate in that uh then the the community Fair begins at 10: a.
m. Community Fair ends at 1:00 p.m. closing ceremony begins at 2: p.m.
and the closing ceremony ends at 5 p.m. if you make it into the top 15 uh 9:00 a.m. the top 15 presentations practice begins on the stages 12:00 p.
m. is when the lunch will happen 1:30 we'll have main stage check-in 2: P p.m. is when the closing ceremony begins and then 5:00 p.m.
the closing ceremony ends so with that that kind of gives you a general overview of everything that has to do with tracks bounties sponsors um and now what we're going to do is I'm going to have defio come up uh and they're going to talk about the platform uh that we're using this year how it works and all that stuff so if you'll welcome uh Denver are you are you pre are you coming all right come on up so welcome Denver so Denver is a CEO of De deio and uh he's going to talk about it thanks bud all right cool so uh my name as you all know interestingly enough is Denver uh not hard to forget um and I'm going to just talk about uh de folio def folio as you know is your uh neighborhood friendly hackathon platform I'm just going yeah all right this is fun we are loading almost there that's always fun find well maybe yeah here can you just walk through them we'll super we'll we'll improvise does that work all right all right so if you just want to cool all right in the spirit of improvisation uh let's go for this and yeah uh we're going to hack the presentation and uh so just want to get you set up all set up on Def folio and um yeah so if you're already not uh checked in on De folio there's no action to be taken in case you have already done with your token proof uh check-ins uh you'll be checked in by the end of the day in case you have um registered uh on token proof are interested to build but haven't yet signed up for the buildon itself you can do so on E Denver 2024 onde folio.com to uh scan the URL uh yeah all right and then how do we uh get to form teams on De folio you just need to go to your hacker dashboard click on create team generate the code and share the code with your team members uh how do you join a team again you go to your hacker dashboard enter the code shared with you by your team member and voila you're in all right and where do you submit your project for Ed Denver on De folio itself uh you just need to navigate to the dashboard uh it's pretty straightforward uh and then you'll get a project submission form enter in all the details uh about your project make sure you have your demo on um and uh demo in the YouTube link and uh submit for all the tracks you want to be eligible for what else uh some things to keep in mind are uh do remember to submit your projects early on uh at least in in the draft mode uh before um you know to avoid any last minute rushes before the submission deadline you can continue editing your projects even after the deadline um though something to remember here is that once you submit your project in draft you can't edit your team right uh what else uh once we are done with the uh submissions uh we'll be also issuing your permanent proof of work you'll get sbts in case you submit a project you get an exclusive SBT uh you know marking your work for the hackathon and in case you win a prize at uh e Denver you get another special SBT from def folio uh something interesting that we are uh you know super glad to be able to do with the E Denver team is to democratize uh the judging process with quadratic voting uh now we have a formal judging process with uh Jason uh mentioned earlier but we also have quadratic voting how does it work uh we have 1 million uh spoke up for grabs uh and how it essentially works is um everybody who submits a project or is a Spoke Dow member gets 100 votes and they get to um vote for other members and uh we take all of this votes take uh these votes and put them up arbitrum using EAS um and then uh you can view the attestation your for your votes on ES scan and check out the results when they announced and once the voting deadline ends uh after the submissions they'll be on for about 3 days uh and post our checks you just get your uh spoke uh on your wallet and uh we also have another cool feature uh once you submit your projects uh you can ask the community to continue supporting your work uh by cheering for you you what this means is that they'll be able to tip you e on chain um and this not only works as I mean who doesn't like free money right uh and it's not just free money or E it's also uh like the proof of encouragement on chain let's say like you are looking to put your work out there and um you know the right investor or Builder chances upon it they can cheer for you uh on chain all right and last of all we are here to help you can find us at the at uh Booth or on Discord uh so four of the de folio crew is here uh we are shria Denver Calvin and PRI so either find us on at our booth or ping us on Discord uh you can uh ping us anytime to for anything regarding deol you all right uh with that wish you all the very best for the hackathon next time up I'd like to call upon KY Mentor Steward can take this ahead not a yeah let's give it up for Denver what a name what a name we didn't name him so um yeah my name is Casey I am the mentor Steward uh for eat Denver um I'm very excited for uh this year for sure uh we have 200 mentors maybe uh yeah like I said we have 200 mentors this year uh but we're also going to incorporate a lot of educational services around that uh so we're going to have skill Labs which are going to uh go over a lot of things uh in the space and we'll go over in the next slide but we're going to do Am Pm uh sessions we're also going to offer blockchain 101 uh so for newcomers that come in here uh we're not just going to uh just hand them off and and uh willy-nilly they'll be able to participate in Educational Services uh such as blockchain 101 it'll go over how to start a wallet uh how to interact with contracts and um just use crypto um we're going to have also one-on-one sessions uh where uh participants can uh go and talk to mentors from all over uh the the different spaces and connect and to get to know them and offer career advice which is I think uh super important some of the skill sets we have this year for mentors uh we have Founders we have Engineers designers uh people uh in the law firm or the the law space uh business professionals marketing professionals and uh Venture capitalists uh and startup professionals uh so uh like I said for the skills Labs um we're going to be doing a lot of the communication on there on Discord so uh we definitely encourage everybody if you're not a part of the sportd Discord to go ahead and uh to join that uh the link is on our website um we're going to be doing two to three each day um uh those uh skill Labs will kind of fall under these focuses that you can see here uh team formation which is a a big thing that mentors are in charge of is getting people together and to actually form teams the uh technical pitching Labs that we'll do so this year it's a little bit different than in years past uh like Jason kind of uh uh talked about earlier the the technical pitching is uh like what is in the name it's going to be more technical we're not uh going to be basing the pitching off of business uh uh aspects or how you can scale uh we're really looking on the tech side and what your Tech and what your product has to uh to offer to the space and how you can solve a problem using that um the uiux design Labs we have a lot of uh user experience professionals here that have a lot of insight and uh will help you uh make your website more desirable more flashy but also easier to use so I think that's super important uh we have Smart contract Labs I think uh everyone here realizes that uh most of the development that we're going to be doing is on Smart contracts uh you know we have chat GPT now but I think chat GPT only goes so far uh at the end of the day you're going to need uh some people with uh really strong smart contract skills and you'll be able to find some of those uh fundamentals but also the advanced topics uh with uh uh joining these uh these skill labs and of course like I mentioned the the one-on-one sessions you can always go to the mentor desk and you'll be able to find somebody that is uh you know around the topic that you're looking for uh to have those one-on-one conversations and and you never know you might have an advisor uh at the end of this out of that so uh build those Community build those uh interactions Network um you know there's there's a lot of different mentors there's mentors that are Innovative uh there's also mentors that are super outgoing so um you know find that person that kind of meshes well with you and and uh build those relationships uh so like I said the mentors that a big thing that we like to uh to do this year is to really embrace the team formations uh we're going to be doing a lot of different uh kind of a hoc uh team formation things or maybe we'll do a game uh that we've kind of been throwing around um but basically we're going to really really try to make it fun and uh uh enjoyable for uh people to build teams because I know it can be hard to get out of that shell and and find people that you're looking for especially uh on the tech side so uh how do I find help um I think it's pretty easy you can as you walk right here you can see there's a lot of like uh Mentor areas and and places that people can uh kind of just come and and find that help but uh for the people that don't really want to go up and just like cold approach somebody I think the uh the Discord is one of the best tools that you can use there's a there's a channel in there called find a mentor and just uh kind of putting out a feeler for the type of help that you need is going to be a great asset um there's the bleon bounties which are going to uh also have all of the technical information and the requirements for each Bounty so take a look at that uh and then once the uh the actual uh Innovation Festival opens up across the street uh you'll be able to actually approach those sponsors and and maybe ask some more technical questions there's a couple uh uh of them uh here early so you can go ahead and approach them and and find out what their Tech stack is like and see what kind of bounties interest you and and help you make something that you want to build here at e um I think that is pretty much it I'm going to go ahead and uh throw it over to to our uh social media guy Drew he's uh finishing up his drink non-alcoholic and uh I'll kick it off to him thank you guys what's up Buffet corns hey so how's everyone doing today good I said how's everyone doing today all right let's go lfb baby so yeah uh welcome to eth Denver day one I'm super excited to be here this is actually my first ever eth Denver so you know thanks to John for taking the chance on me here and uh I love being a part of this community and doing the socials and the and the coms for it so we really like to think of eth Denver as a community of communities because it is a massive massive community of communities uh we're a rallying point for uh all all types of uh daps platforms as well as content teams so all the content that you see here our content footprint uh is because of other people because of uh people like jio and the entire team at Geno uh because of highp partners because of uh you know people on on telegram that show up uh this is an amazing place like one of my favorite things about East Denver so far is that it's the type of place where like someone's like oh yeah let me know if you need help with anything and then they actually like actually help right that doesn't always happen uh in other places but this this community uh you know quizer Crystal uh Adam uh there's so many people that are part of this uh content team that makes the footprint uh what it is and what we're able to do uh so the best places to uh engage with us and get the conversation going is on Discord uh we're also on foraster uh shout out foraster it's freaking awesome uh we're also on uh X Twitter uh what even when Elon wants to rug us and and you know give us technical difficulties on our spaces uh and yeah just please uh tag us if you see me walking around the festival just let me know that you put a post out and I'm more than happy to share it and support you uh if I don't see it we're getting like you know to the tune of like dozens and dozens of notifications like per minute on X so I don't see everyone but I see just about everyone but if I miss something let me know and I'm I'm definitely happy to support you so Discord like casy just said Discord is a is a great place to have conversation uh the bid Hub uh the bid Hub 2024 is the category that you'll find a lot of the uh tracks that you're interested in the channels uh you could find a team you could find a mentor uh there's a way to talk to other bidders in there so definitely check out uh the Biddle Hub 2024 category with the channels there we're doing our best to clean it up and make that you know a really seamless experience for all of you so uh if you have any suggestions definitely let me know as some of you already have which I really appreciate uh so in the Discord you can find announcements uh you can uh show off your favorite memes do all kinds of crazy things so get in there and and engage we're also on X we're live streaming right now on X uh which is really cool we haven't been able to do that in years past but X has really optimized for uh video sharing and live streaming uh so we are we are on X you can catch the live stream if you just go to our profile right at the top there's a purple circle and you could just click on that and and live stream uh it's an easy way to retweet like uh you know and thank you so much for all the support that you've all given us from liking retweeting replying you know our our Twitter our X footprint is is awesome and you know you're a big part of that because there's so many uh individual L content that goes on on there so greatly appreciate it some of the hashtags that you see on the screen here are what you can use in the posts I mean feel free to create your own hashtags but these are the ones that will get seen by people who are are filtered for uh looking for these specific paic hashtag so definitely uh throw that on on there we're also on Instagram uh Instagram has all of our my Biddle stories so that's been a really cool project to just see come to life where people from all over the world from Australia Asia Africa have just submitted these videos and talked about why eth Denver uh is is important to them and what this festival means to them and and their Journeys like it's it's so cool to hear stories of people that have said like oh when I was at e you know three years ago I met my co-founder and now we have a startup together like I love hearing that and that's the type of stories that we look to capture with my bidle stories so if you haven't submitted a my bidle story and you've been to eth Denver before and you still want to just let me know uh you could find me at the festival all week you could also find me on telegram pretty easily although my my DMs are a little bit backed up these days but I I will get back to all of you and then uh yeah next we have uh our board member uh Danny who is is really incredible to work with and has just been a wealth of of resource and and green lighting opportunities here for all of us uh but yeah uh find us on farcaster find us on Twitter Instagram Discord uh and thanks for for everyone I also don't think I mention uh Rachel who helps out a lot with the Twitter spaces so shout out to Rachel uh but yeah uh just let me know if you need anything here to make this a great time for all of you so thanks for having me up here and now we have our Sports out board member [Applause] Danny all right thank you drew and like congrats all of you for being up this early um so I'm Danny I am a part of the boards here at uh Spork Dow and and I'm also your content meta Steward so we're super super excited to actually have completely decentralized our content process for eth this year and I'm going to tell you a little bit about that so typically if you've been to a couple of these hackathons and conferences there's like one or two people that essentially decide like who goes on stage what's interesting what's new what's hot what's cool what's going to happen and what we're going to talk about and I think that made a lot of sense maybe like you know 5 or seven years ago when things were just getting started but in the spirit of you know Progressive decentralization we have actually been moving towards this moment for the past few years adding more curators adding more people getting more input from the community um and this time we just took a big leap of faith uh paler and I had coffee together and we said what if we just do it what if we just try this crazy experiment and we see where we land and and then you know we we reevaluate and we figure out you know what's what's the way forward and so what we did this year is actually we had over 50 people involved in the curation of content for E Denver and this is a mix of expert reviewers Community curators PMs and uh journalists who were really collaborating and working together in order to bring you the content that you're going to see in the next few days and the reason we think this is incredibly cool is because the reality is that there is no human in the world who could tell you what's cool what's new what everyone wants to hear about like what's happening and and this is very much uh a community of communities and as a result we felt that the content should come in that manner too so we have an incredible team of journalists um called Zach and June they're not here yet but I wanted to give them a huge shout out because they have just poured their whole heart and soul into making our schedule possible and coordinating all them pieces and curating some really extraordinary content you're going to see a lot of that reflected in the main stage um in the next few days and we had um nearly 40 community curators and uh expert reviewers um PMs and different members from of of the steward team that jumped in and helped us actually review applications so this year uh we received over 1,800 speaker applications for the community selections and we every single one of them and that's really important to us so we split it up our PMS had a a spreadsheet with everyone's um expertise and split it up between the reviewers to make sure that someone with relevant experience to that application was able to read that application and move it through different waves and so we went through three different waves to end up making those selections we selected um over 200 um Community speakers that have come in to to do this and we're incredibly incredibly excited and it really it really stems from like all sides of the ecosystem so some of the things I'm most excited about would be we had um we have a really cool panel coming up by uh Dyan abruscato the creator of crypto the game and it's going to be a reunion show so I think it's on Friday night you got to check the schedule but we're going to bring some of the contestants on stage uh alongside Dylan to talk about their experiences playing this very cool game uh another highlight for for the week is going to be the security sessions led by the seal 911 team of researchers who uh have been very excited to unveil their program for whad hackers and you'll be hearing uh from from Gabe Shapiro on the uh Safe Harbor framework that they've created to protect Whitehead hackers if you remember we'll also have uh Griff green one of the OG Whitehead hackers that uh was uh T that took took it upon himself to to save the original Dow hack so so I think it'll be a really good mix we we have everything from te Technology Center talks all the way to um projects coming to talk about the latest development on the creative side we have some incredibly strong um female speakers joining us on stage as well raining ranging from um VCS like M and Vanessa grer on the lvmh side of funds all the way to Tay for metamask uh and Tina from igen ler so we're very proud to have a very diverse stage at e Denver and I think that if you explore our programming you're going to find some really really wonderful speakers and talks that come through we have three stages here in bidle Hub and we have three Castle stages those are going to open for the main weekend and you're going to be able to find most of your technical talks and workshops in this area and some more of the general interest talks in the other so we encourage you to just have a lot of fun explore get lost check out the art installations and you know most of all have fun building um having said that as Drew mentioned I'm I'm part of a really wonderful group of humans who make up the uh the board of East Denver we've been at it for a few years and we put our Heart and souls into making this possible and to having uh a handful of other pops as well and we're just excited to really welcome you to e Denver thank you for coming and have a great 10 days so thanks for so there will be at 12 o' some of the sponsors that have bounties will show up and then they'll be doing live presentations about their bounties and that will begin at around 12 p.m. for
