here I know we're late are we missing anybody I guess we're gonna find out okay guys good morning GM let's try that again GM [Applause] welcome to Bitter week 2023 kickoff welcome to Denver Welcome to the devner #devner anybody know the story behind that we sent out a newsletter where we actually misspelled Denver and then like we got a bunch of people right into it was that intentional yeah yeah it's kind of fun right you know Denver but yeah memes are like a thing that we do here if you haven't noticed so welcome to the year of the sport anybody bring their Spork with them anybody one of these I got mine this is OG spork original Sportster um so we're going to kick into about 90 minutes of orientation so hopefully you've got the attention span if you don't just leave go do something else we don't care we're live streaming it we're recording it so you can always come back to it if you want it's not a big deal um I'm gonna go through some high level meta sort of beginner sporked out eat Denver stuff so Welcome bufficorn Friends we're going to talk a little bit about the buffer corn but we're not going to talk a ton about him today actually we've talked a lot about the buffer corn historically we're going to actually talk more about one of his friends in a minute but I'm going to start with just framing why we're here and what we're about so there's really three things that we focus on for eat Denver Biddle week and the whole experience and it's about community education and biddling so Denver is the birthplace of Biddle so Biddle is the meme that we use to describe this creative expression that we do here at eat Denver so everybody's encouraged to build a project Express themselves in a way that's meaningful for them and Biddle is that sort of expression of that but it culminates with community and Community is the absolute Foundation of what eat Denver is and why eat Denver is what it is and that's because East Denver is a community of communities so we're not a corporate conference and I'm going to talk a minute about that but we're a emergent order Innovation festival and we love it because it's not stuffy I mean I'm wearing like literally you probably think that you're out on a Friday night having a little fun looking at my my hoodie here that I'm wearing but um we don't care embrace the weird right so the community is about being you doing it your way and then finding your crowd that actually fits in to the larger eat Denver community and then education we're offering almost 300 hours of free content it's free to attend free food free swag free all sorts of stuff and free experiences so at the end of the day this is really about welcoming the next generation of people to the web 3 movement and to give you some frame of reference here if every person who came to eat Denver last year shows up this year over half of the attendees will still be brand new that's insane if you think about that especially in a bear Market bear market like tell that's my sponsorship crew who's got to line out the door waiting to be able to be a part of our community of communities so it's it's we're very honored and and grateful that you're here this is for me like this is like my Super Bowl this is the thing that I look forward to if you don't know who I am my name is John power I'm the founder and executive Steward of eat Denver and I'm glad to have built this big tent and put up a blank canvas so you can come and do you so let's talk a little bit about FAQs so to start the orientation we're not a conference okay don't tweet hey I'm at the eat Denver conference it gives me cringe vibes okay why because it's not it's if you notice there's not a thing about this that feels conferency now yes there's some conferency talky stuff and there's like booths or whatever but like it's not really that Vibe though so when we talk about what it is it's a community Innovation Festival so a bittleathon an innovation Festival whatever you want to call it aside from a conference but just steer clear the conference thing or else you might get a little look from me just kidding I don't care but it's it's a Vibe it's part of the culture and what we really stand for and bitter week is not blockchain week have you been to blockchain week boo okay we have a huge open source calendar with over 300 events that allows people to do whatever they want all over the city we'll post about it we'll help you promote it and then people from all over the globe show up and participate find your tribe right so it's a beautiful thing and it's Choose Your Own Adventure because there's really something for everybody now uh I talked about the community Innovation Festival we talked about Biddle be a buff Acorn so this is the one part where we're going to talk about that so the buffer corn is a meme for the creativity and magical Fantastical elements of the Unicorn combined with the strength and Community elements of the Buffalo again memes we love memes around here so the the buffer corn and it's family these guys represent this creativity this bitterling culture this emergent order of Awesomeness that we try to encourage people to bring and demonstrate and express to the community so when we say be above a corn that's what it means Bittle you know get your Spork out start biddling I mean not literally you can do a lot of things with this um which is going to be my next topic so what can we build together this week I don't know a lot of you are here looking for a team lots of opportunities to find one there's going to be team formation stuff talked about today there's going to be Icebreaker stuff talked about mentoring Bittle experience what we call bitter lacks there's going to be I mean everything is oriented around helping you find your path so that's what we like talking about you know we're all here to help now what I'm wearing today this is the official uniform of the stewardship of each Denver so if you see somebody wearing this stuff this is basically hey we're here to help you okay so if you have a question feel free to stop somebody and say hey can you help me with this or point me in the right direction they might not be able to answer your specific question because our stewards are assigned to specific areas so they're not generalists but they'll know generally where to point you all right so GM this is sporky anybody met him before he is cute okay so sporky is um part of the buffcorn family he's the spork marmot's best friend if you don't know the spork moment that was year 2021 um he rides on the back of the buffer corn in fact and he wields a spork now sporky is the embodiment of the spork and he is a super cool dude all right so he's your host for this year's event and he's also the unit of value for the sporked out community so the spork token is a thing and if you don't know about that I'm going to tell you about it and just in a little bit later in the programming but it's very versatile you can fight with it Bittle with it dig with it eat with it whatever you want I mean there's all sorts of things that you can do with a spork it's a lot of fun now did anybody get their Spork at check-in nobody did hmm can somebody who's talking to the swag folks find out what happened to the sporks all right so here's a promise we have for the first five thousand people that checked in you're supposed to get a spork custom engraved with eat Denver on it swag folks if you can hear me um so if you didn't get one please go back at some point and ask for it okay because you'll get one uh and that they might have changed that actually now that I think about it so maybe you had to go to the swag store to get it and not a check-in but um that's I think correct so check out the swag store go check that stuff out because there's a ton of sporky stuff so in any case I'm going to bring up the one of the co-founders of the ethereum Denver Meetup and OG eth Denver Stuart Kent Barton Kent you got your mic on do I have hello Hello friends so back in the day just to give you a little back story on this I showed up to the Meetup back in I think it was 2016 and I was like new to the ethereum idea and I was like totally misguided in what I thought decentralized technology was going to do but Kent was leading this little Meetup of what was it like 10 or 15 people at the time we had a good hundred at the time it had grown yeah well it was it wasn't this big though no no no no but then in the spring in 2017 it blew up our Meetup scene here was like three four hundred people with a waiting list and it was like what is going on with all this so what we realized was there was this interesting vibe that Colorado has that mixes really well with the web 3 ethos so I was talking to Kent and I'm like you know what we should do dude we should put all this creativity to work and do a hackathon and he's like ah you know I don't know we tried that once before and I was like no I was like we're gonna do it we're gonna bring people from all over the world and we're going to make Colorado a destination of choice for Innovation for web3 and the guys in the room were like I don't know man we're Colorado we're a flyover City and here we are so welcome to Denver Kent I'm going to let you uh do your thing here and uh take it away you got about 10 minutes and I'll be stalking you all right just put me the bird when it's time for me to get off or something yeah so you got the clock to the left there you can keep an eye on it but uh take it away man thank you John uh good morning everybody it's time to wake the [ __ ] up it's been a week um thank you so much for coming uh as John alluded to um talking about you know us stewards and this applies to the entire you know East Denver crew and Community we're here for you we are here to make your life in this ecosystem better and hopefully improve everything you're doing we're this this is a resource for you thank you for coming early to Biddle week it's going to be awesome so uh as John alluded to uh yes my name is Kent I've been in crypto for a while started the ethereum Denver Community 2014. um we thought it would be cool to provide a little bit of insight into the the history of uh crypto in Colorado because I think it's it's unique and special and I'm going to talk also about some of the unique um ethos and values that make this um this community so cool so I originally tried having chat GPT write a little bit of a Spiel just to see how it worked and it was um I would describe it as blandly inspirational so instead I'm going to use a drug trip analogy for this um so you're about to embark on essentially a 10-day trip and it's going to be mind expanding and possibly um life-changing and as with any proper trip set and setting is very important so let's let's talk about set and setting um one of the most important things with this is a green field it's one of the beautiful things about web3 and crypto and ethereum is there are no rules you you determine what you want to do nobody can tell you what to do there's no Playbook and it's up to you this is one of the most beautiful things um for everybody here who is planning on hacking just quick show of hands uh who's going to be doing nft stuff or planning on nft stuff sorry it's super bright up here okay good crew what about defy nice how about uh subversive privacy Tech to act against a stalwart against authoritarian regimes yes more important than ever in this world I see you man that's awesome um but again you can do whatever you want we don't pigeonhole you into something this is your show you determine what you want to do Choose Your Own Adventure uh so yeah back in the day um believe it or not the crypto scene was pretty much only Bitcoin and it was awesome back in the day uh back in the day Bitcoin Maximus did not exist we uh we used to have the ethereum meet up in a place called the Denver Bitcoin Center um in Lakewood not too far from here and um it was great you know we were all just kind of collectively talking about whether this Tech would work and it was uh really nice so a lot of what you see here today is building on that old school sort of Frontier vibe from from uh back in the day the early 2010s when when Bitcoin had got its start we were very much sort of a ancestor of that sort of so to speak or a predecessor um ethereum Denver had some cool moments over the years um I picked this one out because it was especially cool this is 2016. uh this is Zuko he came down from Boulder to announce a new uh project called Z coin they hadn't quite settled on the name Z cash yet but um this was the first Public Announcement of uh of Z cash or what would become Z cash and uh it's been really cool to see what's kind of changed or how that's grown since then uh Colorado obviously is the home of East Denver also shapeshift near and dear to my heart I work with shapeshift Dao it's the spiritual home of git coin Kevin Watkins from Boulder and there's so many other great projects in this area too uh in the community and the vibe is is wonderfully unique uh so yeah as John mentioned uh great Community it was going well John shows up and like let's do a hackathon and uh John is an ambitious dude and the first hackathon succeeded beyond our wildest expectations it was uh really a lot of fun so let's talk a little bit a bit more about Biddle real quick bittel is basically a mindset and it's very timely right now um Biddle when you think about it is super cool because it's okay everybody knows hodle right I'm going to Hodel my crypto investment over the years and Fu you can't take my coins and that's great totaling is great but it's a very passive activity you're just sitting there hodling biddling is a call to action biddle's like okay let's build some cool stuff uh it's especially apropos in a bear Market when everybody is just [ __ ] all over crypto and you know things are so negative so that's precisely what happened uh the second East Denver uh prices were in the tank the Ico bubble had cratered it was it was Dire but the call to action I remember John talking about this non-stop on Twitter and it really spread is Bittle Bittle Bittle so sure enough it worked out we had people show up at the second eat Denver and uh unlike the The Narrative you might hear in Media or whatever or online it was thriving it was actually bigger than the first um the first event so the the Biddle mindset worked uh the next year 2020 still in a bear Market uh it just seemed to be going on and on but yet East Denver part three was was more vibrant and awesome and special than ever it was uh people were truly building so anybody in that space kind of had a deep sense that hey this is actually going to work out there's a critical mass here and sure enough it did we came out of that environment and there was now game-changing world-changing applications being built uh thanks in large part to the efforts of developers like you guys and Builders like you guys who are actually taking the risk and and um basically pushing back against that narrative so basically bufficorn and You by seeing through that hype by um avoiding the the media narrative by not listening to friends and family who are like crypto well didn't that Harry guy just scam all of crypto going to jail like screw screw that that dude um no you you understand that clearly that there was a disconnect there and you understand the reality of it so thank you for for pushing through all that and and being here uh this week okay really quick I don't want to hit you with too many words but one of the coolest things about East Denver I think is that arguably more than any other event in the space it inherits the the fundamental properties that make decentralized blockchains like ethereum special so what are those censorship resistance there are no Gatekeepers nobody can keep you out um there's no this is not some cool people's Club where it's it's some sort of elite thing no it's open to all universal access anybody around the world can join and collaborate I think last year we had over 110 countries represented at East Denver it's probably going to be more this year it's truly global transparency uh publish uh build and publish routines code you know of course it's all out in the open it's the antithesis to the the closed Gardens of Web 2.0 this old dying business model that I think everybody is is pretty sick of and skeptical of permissionlessness build whatever you want nobody can tell you no this is the nature of of ethereum it's also the nature of the hackathon this is your adventure um and then finally positive sum collaboration over competition people have made the mistake over and over in crypto treating it as if it's a you know fighting for the the same the same small pie the fact is it's a growing pie we don't have to worry about uh mindless competition let's figure out ways to collaborate it's positive Sun all right I think I got a few more minutes I'm gonna haul ass so East Denver essentially is a big tent um one of the most fundamental and important things we do for this uh to make it inclusive is no tick no paid tickets we want to make this uh have no Financial barriers to entry at East Denver we don't care about any of your attributes other than are you an awesome human being do you want to build cool [ __ ] let's hang out another defining thing maximalism sucks so I'm of the belief that someday humans will colonize space and maybe it might look like that but we're not going to make it to space if we blow each other up over ridiculous tribal as [ __ ] crypto is a way to build outside of all the the typical tribalism you see in um with humans however of course you have maximalism in crypto as well not at East Denver if you want to talk about other blockchains right on as you walk around you'll see other ecosystems involved and people building on on different Tech embracing a panoply of blocks of um blockchains is crucial because we can learn from each other we can figure out how to collaborate if you want a maximalist conference uh there might be one down in Miami in a couple months uh it props to my buddy Marcus Hearn I don't know if Marcus is here yet but um he pointed out that we're reaching a singularity now where um uh chains can actually thanks to bridging and common Dev tooling and you know evm chains everywhere um the silos between between blockchains are being broken down more than ever so as we enter this Singularity the notion of maximalism seems uh even more absurd than ever okay two more sides so this one is a little bit higher level but this is this is basically my crypto is going to change the world and make it a better place uh slide um institutions have a um it have a reason uh invested interest in keeping human humans divided they want to divide Humanity uh this whether it's uh partisan media governments corporations you see this all the time crypto is a way to build beyond that to coordinate it voluntarily outside of the structures of these of these uh other institutions and um by doing that I truly think we can we can make the world a better place and get away from this idea that Humanity has to be inherently divided it sounds optimistic and a little bit utopian but you know what this is crypto let's think big and think positive so that's it uh have fun be cool um be mindful as you're hanging out in the community you know this is uh people think of us as a bunch of tech Bros uh let's show them different this is this is the opposite we're here to just um you know spread the virus in a good way so thank you we love you have fun thanks Kent he says he's a little utopian and optimistic you don't say now he is he's actually incredibly optimistic I Love Ken he's uh he's a fantastic inspiration for what what started as a very small thing here in Colorado and frankly without him we wouldn't be here so if you get the chance say thanks to Kent at some point because he's a good dude and uh he does just want to hang out it's kind of funny he says that but he's like he he does um all right who's got their buff of corns who's got above the corn nft who doesn't have any flipping idea what I'm talking about so there's an nft project called the bufficorn Biddle Brigade it's on Open Sea if you want to get one it already minted out last year so I can't sell you any but there are private spaces and places rare swag drops all sorts of cool stuff that if you own one of these um your little badge that's got the ticket gating on here and actually unlocks a bunch of stuff so like it's a good thing to own one in case you don't but we're gonna now talk about diversity inclusion and community so Lee you want to join me so Lee has been a part of the community since the very very beginning they were um our first diversity steward back in 2018 so OB original buffer corn here so why don't you take it away and talk a little bit about how we do things here when it comes to making sure people are invited yeah certainly well hello everyone and welcome to East Denver 23. so yeah OG Stewart I've been here for a minute and obviously like one of the biggest things that we have to deal with when we want to make sure that we are actually an inclusive environment is that we need to remove barriers like there's a lot of information there's a lot of confusion and chaos and everything that happens with web3 and so one of the biggest things that we've prided ourselves on since the very first East Denver is that we are the most diverse web3 community and so that comes with great responsibility right and so every year we're a little bit better a little bit bigger and a little bit more intentional and so yeah just trying to make things happen trying to make sure that everybody feels welcomed and I mean I'm standing up here in front of you all today I use they them pronouns and I'm trying to carve the way so that people following don't have to deal with as many uh roadblocks and barriers and so here we are again just trying to make things happen trying to get more people involved and trying to make sure that web 2 mindsets get left behind and so yeah thank you yeah and so like I'm saying trying to remove barriers you know we we could easily be charging 500 000 1500 15K East Denver is free like do you do look at around you right now look at where you are look at where we're about to go and this shit's free all right so just keep that in mind we are making things happen we're making making moves here and so and one of the biggest things with web3 is just education and so providing a means for people to understand what's going on to ask questions or feel safe um asking these questions and then we've got free food and Swag like not only do you get to come here we feed you and put you up right and we've got free child care so you don't have to like we are sure there's still work that can be done and there will be work in the future but we are still making things happen still removing these barriers so that we can limit the excuses of people not being able to attend and partake and join in this community event like this is all about Community like who you're sitting next to community who you're going to walk past in the hallways community community community all right so keep that in mind have respect for what you're doing have respect for the people around you and have respect for East Denver thank you yeah and we've got community scholarships and we've had scholarships going on like since since the very first East Denver I'm like you know I remember putting lots of effort and time uh and explanation into making sure that people understand that we had this and like we were able to provide a means for people to get here and then you are here to be you and like I said with Community like we embrace it the more unique you are the more you have to offer right and so we're not trying to stifle that we're not trying to put that down not trying to put baby in a corner all right so be you embrace it get it out here share it learn it love it and so like I said we're just removing barriers making things happen and like even on March 1st this Wednesday um one of the events that I'm throwing is Bittle East Denver unique and so again education the first part of this event will be about helping people understand what's going on web3 so if you have questions come if you don't have questions come and you know be a support to somebody else and then we are providing team leads for people who are novice uh with their web 3 skill set and they want to actually partake as a biddler but might be a little timid so and then we've got food and we've got presentations and then we've got a special music performance so keep that in mind March 1st Middle East Denver unique so I'm so happy to be here I'm so happy to be sharing in this with you all and 2023 is going to be even bigger better and better so here we are let's make it happen [Applause] [Music] all right thank you Lee I love the passion I wouldn't want to get into a bull fight with her though or them excuse me they you should talk to them about the bull riding seriously it's actually like a thing at the National Western and uh the stories the stories are amazing so definitely talk to Lee if you have questions about any of our initiatives around diversity inclusion and just how we do community and why this is important pull them aside it's it's a really fascinating conversation so um sporked out for Noob so if you don't know this is actually my nft I actually own this one this is the profile picture that I use all over the Internet so this is like my literally my identity and people ask me all the time it's like what the hell is that it's like well it's a ball buff a corn well the Super Soaker and an eye patch and a rainbow Grill that's what it is well you don't know no they don't know but it's kind of fun so again if you don't have one I suggest you go get one but in the meantime we're going to talk about this thing called Spork Dow so we get a lot of what the [ __ ] is sporked out and how the hell does that have anything to do with East Denver so we're going to talk about it and this is the tldr and I've got a little bit more meat and potatoes behind this and some some slides so bear with me for just for a minute but this is really important stuff because it does affect you most of you are here as members of sportdow so if you paid attention during the registration and application process it gave you an option to join sport out okay so legally it's a cooperative legal rapper so we did this for particular regulatory reasons to legitimize the effort this is a geocentric thing so this is not an ethereal thing like you know a dow with people all over the world even though we do have members from all over the world it's in Denver so we had to have some legal legitimacy to this so we did a bunch of research talked to a bunch of smart people took years and years and years to Fred to frame this we first started talking about turning eastender into a Dao in 2019 actually on Main stage I said that we're an attorney Denver into a dow and we have so in 2021 we did that um but we're owned by our members so just like any other Co-op so think about this is like REI for events in simple terms you are a member are an owner in this and we're governed by a board of stewards now I'm going to talk about governance in depth here in just a second and we use this thing called Spork as a community patronage token to represent the unit of account that of ownership or rights to profits that you are entitled to based on if and when a profit distribution happens and there's ways that we actually generate accrual value not just outflows in terms of events expenditures and buying things but we actually make investments and we do cool things through the ecosystem to actually create regenerative economic games coming back to our members so to go deeper what is sporked Owl so there's this thing called limited Cooperative associations and Colorado is the leader in LCA legal statutes so if you look at how the national statutes are framed a lot of that's pulled from Colorado code so we refer to this as an event Dow with a legal rapper or a digital event Cooperative so it's like it's like a thing this isn't just like oh it's an event you know somebody sales owns that I show up I eat food I go home they're extracting from me no you are an owner now the parent Dao to The Meta Dows is sportdow and The Meta Dows are eat Denver and bufficorn Ventures so these Dows are owned by the parent legally they are entities unto themselves so sporked out though from an ownership standpoint owns them which means you have fractional ownership in them as well as I mentioned in May of 2021 we spun eastender out of opolis so opolis is my day job if you don't know what that is please come find out yes opolis is cool but we didn't have a way to fund anything so I seeded the original checks to eat Denver to invest in kind of getting the initial sponsorships going and as a result of that I mean somebody had to sign the contracts and take all the risk and all that but then we spun it out right so as a result of that opolis owns 10 of the sport treasury which is 528 million so very small amount can comparatively and the purpose is to create this regenerative future so in a lot of respects being here at East Denver is the world's largest web3 regenerative game live action experience because we're literally doing it we're not just talking about it at some conference we're actually building creating innovating participating as members and owners in this regenerative future Hands-On all week so it's very cool it's very fun and you get to be a part of it now who owns it we talked about this eat Denver is wholly owned by Spork Dao and we're not part of Youth Global so all y'all tweeting eat Global that's not us we know Heath Global they're our friends but we're not part of these Global so they can't help you solve your ticketing problems they can't help you with anything else they might email me or one of our team but we're not part of the e-global community um we're owned by you and you have an option you don't have to be a member if you don't want no one's going to force you it's 599 dollars to attend if you don't want to be a member it's free if you want to join it's intentional okay now we're not trying to force you in like oh there's a catch I'll talk about the catch slide in a minute um and your active membership is consummated by staking and we'll be launching our staking contract soon um and yet and once you get your Spork you'll be able to stake your Spork and that's like there's reasons that you're going to want to do that we'll we'll explain a lot deeper later but in part that's how you're going to get your profits so you have to stake your membership in order to get your profits when the time comes now anybody can be a member so organizations can be a member Dallas can be a member individuals can be a member all of you individually can be members and the orgs that you're a membership of or that you're contributing to your projects or whatever can also be members so there could be multiple ways that you might be participating and this is considered our annual meeting so by Statute cooperatives are required to have an annual meeting well how convenient is that right so we could just do this every year and just call out our annual meeting we actually kind of got a laugh out of that I'm like like the whole point of our existence is like the annual meeting in a way so yeah our attorneys kind of had some fun with that furnace so we're stewards so I'm a steward these are all stewards over here most of them what is what the hell does that mean well stewardship is a very important factor of like how we see our roles here so I cringe when people say I'm like the CEO no thank you okay I want nothing to do with the title and you know as executive Stewart I have a responsibility to deliver a good product and to make sure the trains run on time and that we were well coordinated but in the end it's not about me it's about my role is to protect the ethos to protect the culture to cast the vision and then to let really smart people organize their different stewardships which we have I think like 50 stewardships now that run this event hundreds and hundreds of volunteers we have almost 400 mentors I mean this is a huge production now so coordinating this is not something that I do on my own we have incredibly smart people running these different stewardships that are incredibly passionate about executing excellence and delivering that good product and experience for everybody here so in terms of governance the board of directors the board members the board of stewards is elected every three years we did that in 2021 so that'll be coming up next year and then um the the actual leadership of the operational side is appointed by the board so as chief executive Steward I am appointed by the board I'm also on the board of stewards but that you know but I serve at the Leisure of the community which is governed by the board the board also approves the budget for both East Denver and sportdow and we're going to be giving a bunch more transparency to the community very soon on all of that and then eventually we're moving governance to the community for a lot of things now you're not going to get to decide what kind of coffee we put in the uh the the bodegas or whatever because that'll be operational decisions but strategic things ethos things directional things even investments will largely be handed down to the community in some capacity so those decisions are being discussed in some working groups amongst the board of stewards and some community members now and we're going to progressively decentralize over time now why are we doing that well let me tell you if you've seen any Dows that go full decentralization right out the gate not going to make it okay it is incredibly difficult moloch is a son of a [ __ ] okay and coordination there's all sorts of just pitfalls that end up happening I mean in an idealistic World it sounds great they're good ideas but we're taking a very staged and stepped approach because we really want to protect what we've built and we're going to get there so it may take you know a couple more years to really get things fully transitioned but we're we're very happy with where things are today so what's the bloody catch Okay so on Twitter there was a bunch of people not a bunch but there's a few people calling into question why we would do like why are we trying to force people into membership it's like dude we're not trying to force anybody into membership we're trying to make it as easy as possible for people to get here but we have to have the legal check the boxes right we have to do all the things that are expected of us statutorily with respect to the Cooperative code to be legitimate right so we have to have a formal way of defining membership we have to have a formal way of doing all these things so we said well just attendance is cool we could just make that membership but then how do we you know how do we uh get people in that don't want to be members and like do we make exceptions or like you know we had to go through this whole checklist of complexities to make sure that we were like doing things by the book so we decided that we're just not gonna like we're not gonna make it hard for people to get in right like you just check the box and say yeah I'm in now is there any fine print is there any membership fees down the road no no there's no there's no catch there's no catch to any of this we're literally like giving it away if you want to participate now the other thing that we can't do for people who don't want to agree for whatever reason we can't send you spork so if you attend and you don't want to join the Dow that's okay but we're not going to send you spork that's okay you don't want to participate in profits I don't care doesn't matter to me we're doing it for free so like it's it's not like anybody's expecting anything of you but we've given you the out which means you can pay to come if you want that's fine with me we don't care now data was also a big thing just to cover this last year on Twitter there was a big hoorah about like oh we're like selling lists to people and all this I'm like dude why don't you guys just come talk to me about this like we don't do that like we are sponsors who fund this thing like to know who's here but we even took it a step further so we took it to the community last year and said look what do we want to do with this and the the consensus was that we wanted to give people the ability to opt in instead of by default sharing their data now guess what what percentage of people do you think actually opted into sharing with our community anybody want to guess close anybody else what's that now that's too high is right between the two of you is 80 percent eighty percent of people opted in to share their data okay now we're not sending it to Microsoft and Google and stuff we're sending it to like startups that are trying to build communities that our sponsors are largely immersion order web 3 projects so they're part of the community we're literally sharing with ourselves right so it's not some extractive corporate model that we're doing but you get opt-in or opt out so it worked out didn't it pretty cool and uh pretty fantastic now this is the last call to action I'm going to give you on this um this this concept of stewardship now everybody hears about this thing called the ownership mentality that's stewardship when you think about what that means it's a protection mindset we have something very precious very valuable here this is a special Community this is a special event the vibe that's here you're not going to find this anywhere in the world I dare you to show me I I go all to all the events and some of them are Kick-Ass they're great but this is special so stewardship put your stewardship on you know think about how you carry yourself I'm not saying don't be weird I'm not saying don't be yourself I'm saying Steward while you do it express your creativity but be a steward while you do it you're an owner you're not just a contributor or a consumer we're building shared value here we're living the web 3 dream all [ __ ] week okay so let's do it together so put your stewardship on and let's roll okay so what else anytime you want you can opt out rage quit if you want we don't care there's no penalty there's no subscriptions there's no extraction there's no nothing it's literally Choose Your Own Adventure if you want to be here be here if you know that's okay too I'll say it again never fees never fees never fees we're not trying to extract anything from you so anybody that posts at me on Twitter about that crap I'm just like uh this is why I'm doing this because like everybody has these misconceptions or assumptions it's like I'm not surprised that people would think that but that's not what we're doing at all we are mandated to look after your best interest your experience your ability to express creativity your experience to build your experience to build a team a project and ultimately end up on the final stage Sunday March 5th winning big prizes is our goal why because that advances the web 3 narrative that builds creates shared value for our community and ultimately your long-term success brings value back and I talked about that doing that through buffer corn Ventures so Russell's going to talk a lot about that later on I'm not going to get into buffcorn Ventures and again profits are distributed to you profits what the [ __ ] wait is that a security Spork okay you know anything about co-ops co-ops there's a concept called patronage patronage is the the method by which co-ops distribute value back to its membership so we're a limited Cooperative Association so we're not selling tokens to you we're giving them to you to to to denote the value that you've contributed so you hold them and then when the time comes and we decide that we're going to declare a dividend a patronage dividend let's say you own point one percent of the total Supply where you're going to get 0.
1 percent of the total profits easy as that so how do you get Spork contribute build projects sponsor speak volunteer steward there's a whole distribution of this that I'm going to talk about next okay sport vitals if you don't know 528 million it's a meme if you don't know 5280 is what a one mile okay so we're aware mile high so 528 million we love memes God do we love it it's so ridiculous but it's fun okay so there's a diminishing number of Spork distributed annually so the tokenomics started a big number and kind of go like this over time every event year has its own distribution for 2023 five percent of the total token Supply which is 26.4 million will be distributed and also for 2024 so next year will be the same and then uh staking so 26 addresses staked enough Spork to get a free sporkwell ticket so in other words they're not paying for a ticket they've contributed it enough to the event over the years to accumulate enough that they just stake them in the application contract and they get a free sparkwell ticket pretty cool and then at least 740 addresses staked at least one sport to get priority review which means they jump the line so you're going to want to do this going forward we're going to create more and more opportunities not just to own and earn Spork but to stake it and create additional value for yourself so as you're thinking about how you can contribute this year sponsors get seven percent merch you can buy and get Spork speakers get Spork stewards Community miscellaneous attendees each person gets 52.8 sport memes everywhere so ridiculous bufficorn Ventures investors Biddle submissions Biddle Awards okay now the Biddle Awards bucket here I'm going to point this out to you there's not that many people in that bucket if you're a winner you get a huge amount of Spork for winning so there's a huge incentive not just to build but to build excellence and end up on the stage at the end of the week there's some board of stewards discretionary stuff and then volunteers and crew so all of this is published we're actually going to be putting out some new medium pieces on some of this Josh right at some point all right so now I'm going to invite my good friend Shannon Ewing The Fabulous Shannon Ewing does anybody not know Shannon everybody knows Shannon got to turn it on is it on oh you're on we're good so you want to talk to me about bid a week perhaps yeah well let's talk about a week first um so if you don't know I'm just going to introduce Shannon real quick here did Shameless chill because she does she loves to hang out on the backdrop and not be out in the on the stage talking too much like me like yeah she thinks I like doing this I'm actually an introvert and uh yeah sell that somewhere else is what I get told but I am actually um well before we do this okay so Shannon is uh Sheila we talk about stewardship she leads our sponsorship stewardship and also our VIP stewardship in some respects she kind of flows over there as well she's been with us since 2019. and she probably has one of the hardest jobs in the whole community and I will just say in front of everybody that if you do not take the time to say thank you to Shannon for all the work that she puts in then you're not above corn what we want to do is say thank you to our sponsors because we do those are the ones that made this free they're buying you lunch they set the whole venue up like it really is you know it gets chilly at events thanking the sponsors but in this it's like a community Gathering they care about you guys having a great time about you guys building like it really isn't just a massive commercial reflection I try to give her a compliment and then she's just like no we're going to stick to sponsors instead now seriously though Shannon does a fan does a fantic job and she's right 107 International sponsors from six continents 162. yeah plus Partridge and pear trees so I'm rounding but close enough it's massive um it's a lot to manage trust me on that you can ask her about that but like it's it's a fantastic demonstration of what people are attracted to as a pro as projects the value that we bring as a community to these projects is very symbiotic it's actually non-extractive both ways and it works out pretty nicely so we're going to talk a little bit about middleweek so let's do it let's do it so you guys are here now thank you for coming early we're super excited to see you uh last year was the first time we actually hosted Biddle week in real life it had always been virtual and we thought there was going to be maybe a couple hundred people that showed up and we had like there was gonna be like 20 people at a kickoff yeah we got 4 000 so that was a little bit different so we'll see what happens this year the fact that you guys are here already is super exciting to us so today we do the kickoff you're gonna hear from some of the sponsors about like their their bounties we're gonna hang out here and get this rolling and then the workshops start so this stage is going to have all sorts of tech Integrations and demos the stage next to us is going to be hosting a lot of like how to be a better hacker so intro to figma how to present your your projects how to pitch on stage there's going to be happy hours there's going to be side events there's going to be mini Summits there's going to be stuff happening in like a South by Southwest fashion all over town so we've got people coming in from all sorts of different platforms you guys have seen the crazy spreadsheets with all the different like parties and venues and side events and all of that fun stuff we don't have to to let you know exactly how overwhelming this week can be um but we really like we encourage you to get a little taste of Denver while you're here so we try to bring in as many local companies as possible as many local vendors we use as many local providers you're getting a little taste of local weather today because tomorrow it's going to be like 58 you'll be in t-shirts again just wait till tomorrow yeah sorry um so yeah this is just all about hacking this week so there's still going to be a ton of networking to do but there's going to be a lot of um a lot of information a lot of cool workshops a lot of like how do you get into the nitty-gritty of what's going to happen in the hackathon so later on in bitter week we've actually got three venue locations now this is what we call the the official Biddle Hub so we're at Great Divide Brewing on Brighton Boulevard now if you see anybody telling you to go to Arapahoe that is the wrong place okay so do not go there come here now the vibe hotel and the source Hotel also have stages there it's they're smaller venues but we're trying to spread things out because there are so many people but there's a schedule that you can follow at eatdenver.
com schedule with the listings of all the events happenings by location specific as well and we're gonna have all sorts of stuff for you to experience hands so this year we've got a new and improved blockchain arcade we've got all sorts of stuff going on in the main venue where we move on March 2nd so we have an arcade experience the DJ chill room is back we've got the Zen Zone we've got all sorts of fun stuff for the people who have been to East Denver before that you're going to remember and then a whole bunch of new additions because this venue is gigantic it's 400 000 square feet and it's a total Alice in Wonderland Choose Your Own Adventure there's a bunch of different ways to get to the different floors there's hidden rooms there's hidden breakout sessions there's stages everywhere it's super exciting and the creation that this team put together on how to put like all of those experiences into one venue is actually pretty freaking cool yeah we've so everybody here hates the concept of conference I already talked about that well one of the things that comes along with conferences is this concept called the Expo and so we uh I just talking about it just gives me just cringe vibes so we're like you know okay well what's our version of it's always been what we call the shill Zone we literally call it that so um we try to kind of like block people into this area where they get to like chill their stuff hand out their swag and we're like okay go for it but in the rest of the venue it's like keep it to a minimum we're trying to you know protect the vibe well this year it's gotten so big that we're like okay well how do we how do we avoid this default Expo feel well we divided it up into Villages so the tracks that everybody can compete in for the bittleathon are now also physical spaces so downtown defy City Regional India region landia like these are all their own spaces and they have a stage embedded in the space with their content on it and there's a lounge and all sorts of things so if you happen to be here for a particular thing nfts for example then go to the nft Village go hang out there you want to go to the infrastructure thing and nerd out with the uh ZK nerds go do that you know like there's plenty of stuff around but it's a lot more fun it's color-coded it's if you look at the backdrop here that we have it's all like that so there's a ton of like really cool art Integrations the the sponsors themselves were given a palette of colors that they can integrate into their Booth design they can so we're trying to minimize again this sort of like sensory overload of the Expo and making it really lame and overloading or that just endless Booth after booth and everything just blurs together so we really did try to make it interactive and the sponsors again are super excited to work with you guys so we joked this year that Ethan ver attendees love gamification they love swag and they love memes so find some way to engage people rather than just pitch advertisements at them so up here in the sport Castle which actually we're affectionately calling the National Western now for the time being the spork Castle instead of the Sports Castle which is where we used to be and as you attend the event you'll see we've actually had a little bit of fun with the outside of the building as well so um you'll see I'm in a little Alpha drop for you but it's kind of funny it's actually kind of hilarious what we've done to the outside of the building but um you can see it from the highway if you drive by it a little hint but in any case a couple of things just to cover buffer corns buffer corns buffer corns go get an nft buffer corn if you don't have one already it's basically you buy an asset and then you get a bunch of free stuff so they talk about nft utility this is it in person IRL so the bufficorn Biddle Brigade Lounge being one of them free food and beverage Thursday through Sunday it's open claw machines fun games free swag air drops all sorts of cool stuff go hang out be a buff acorn sporkwell Lounge okay if you got 250 000 sporks stake it you can get yourself a free sporkwell ticket you can buy one if you want or there's other ways I may even be doing something at the end of this presentation at the very end and end that might actually get you one so hang out more things happening chess and poker tournaments so Thursday March 2nd speed chess Texas Hold'em hundred thousand dollar purse Saturday March 4th at 6 p.m the satellites start today so you can actually earn a spot into the main event by playing one of these satellites on virtue poker which is one of our sponsors and you can find out more at ether.com poker so more just to reiterate the spaces and places of the castle we're going to just rapid fire through these because you know Shannon did this earlier a little bit but we're just going to go through it and give you a little bit of visuals but they are so we were the first people to do an nftr auction in art gallery we're still doing that of course and we're taking it to a whole new level didn't eat Denver sell the first beeple for like 200 bucks we did we literally sold the first people at an art auction in 2020. you guys believe that nobody had any idea what that was what was going to happen Well yeah if anybody did it wouldn't have been 200 bucks right but at the end of the day we've hatched a lot of cool stuff and people got his first nft sale here uh blockchain arcade sponsored by blockade blockade games we've actually got interactive blockchain games and cartesi cartesi yes as well and we've got a whole we got like what 20 games that also take your tokens so you actually get to engage with web3 but yeah it's gonna be super exciting super ridiculous fun um highly interactive both analog games and a bunch of web3 and futuristic games as well so please go check that outr my favorite place yeah totally it's going to be great Vibes again this year it's set up in a really cool part of the venue that has like skylights there's going to be bean bags we're gonna have Chill Vibes for you to listen to and like hack and just hang out and take meetings yeah it's uh European style so I mean it's very cool Chill Vibes DJ spinning uh bean bags flipping everywhere and like lights low and just like you know I mean you can still flip open your laptop and work or you can sleep or whatever you want to do we've seen all sorts of the thing uh lee mentioned free child care now we are the first people and only people that I'm aware of that do this yeah as far as I know so the reason for this is again removing barriers to participation it's hard for parents to be able to come do this stuff so bring your buffer kiddos drop them off come do your thing Biddle go home do whatever you got to do we might green pill them we might we actually do if you haven't seen we have a book called B is for buffer corn written for kids it was actually dedicated to my kids and Justin Moskowitz my co-founders kids and uh this is actually the buffcorn reading that book to these kids it's really good fun you can actually get it at the puff corn or the buffer swag store if you want one Makerspace so if you're not into some of the traditional software devs type things where you're just hacking on your laptop but you want to build something maker spaces there it's new and improved and much bigger this year 3D printers and all sorts of Engagement and interactive stuff to go actually create for all of our right brainers Biddle is more than just software guys it's all sorts of stuff Zen Zone come get a gong bath gong bass cacao ceremonies massages yoga classes meditation sessions it's going to be awesome this year it's bigger than we've ever hosted we're super excited about this it's freaking massive and it's uh the vibe is like super chill super quiet and puppy petting is coming back puppy padding is coming back that was actually the most popular thing I think of all last year it's puppies yeah I know it's kind of hard to compete with all right and then at the end of all of this nonsense we go to the mountains and we share pow pow with Buffy we ski we drink hot cocoa people co-work from cafes people meet up on the mountain there's parties at night it's one of the best networking experiences because everybody's kind of done they've finished the hackathon they can take their workout off and you just go hang out with other web 3 people and I've seen some of the best relationships people get rad jobs like it's a really great place to go meet people who care and just hang out rather than having to do like the work stuff yeah and I think what we get a lot of questions about like Hey where's the schedule for that there really isn't one so it's very fluid very organic it's intentional like we're trying not to make it anything because I mean we're just by then we're gonna be have done 10 days of schedules and tickets and all this stuff no I'm done and uh I'm the guy who goes and enjoys many Colorado activities so uh yeah we just go have some fun and just uh kind of YOLO at the end of all this um punctuation buff a swag store so where's your swag what happened to your beautiful scarf it's like I don't have any friends on the team yeah I don't think you want to wear it where's your scarf it's down there all right we've got cashmere scarves in the buffer swag store they're embroidered with cool cross sporks on them we have all sorts of things that are brand new for this year we have new hoodies we have new t-shirts we have all sorts of cool things so the golden Sports yeah you got to go to the the swag store check it out and the bufficorn onesie okay so if you're ridiculous enough to go buy that if you wear it to opening ceremonies you're gonna get a special prize just saying so uh if you want to YOLO and eight been to that you might want to do that all right so that's it for the spaces and places thank you Shannon thank you John Russell my friend he's Rocky he's rocking 20 20 sublimated t-shirt check this guy out flexing the OG so um every year we dog food Tech and sometimes it works out great sometimes it fails epically this year it seems to be working pretty damn well so we've got a project called we look that bufficorn Adventures invested in that actually came out of last year's event kind of the whole point and Russell's going to tell us about registration and check-in now you all are here so bear with this because you've already done this but people are watching this online live stream and then they're also recording this so people can watch it later so as they're coming they can um they can actually have some understanding of what's going to happen so take it away man thank you John and thank you all for coming um so who had a completely seamless process this morning oh really well you know you got network problems you got all these things you guys are here early we're on The Cutting Edge all I can say is every three minutes it improves an order of magnitude so the process is already improved greatly today so um we are here um many of you of course uh maybe uh who actually went down to National Western today did anybody oh I'm so sorry sorry about that it happens email messages that go out you are in the right place because you see us here at the Biddle Hub on Brighton Boulevard so anybody who's watching streaming come to Brighton Boulevard that is where we are that's where biddlehub is happening that's where this video is taking place right now the main event will be at National Western if you go down there you actually will see horses and cows and sorts of things because they have a big thing going on there still right now and they'll be moving out before we move in um when we start on the second there are a number of things that you all got when you came in you've got a badge which I have in my pocket yeah so you've got a really cool badge that has a place for you to write your name which I recommend you do I know we don't like names here or your handle or whatever and you also got a Wii card I recommend you put a sticker on there so you recognize it when you're doing things because it's going to be hard for you to figure out which which card is yours and you saw that there was Mew there to download the Mew wallet a couple of things on that I'm also the free swag and everything I think John mentioned that the first 5 000 people that buy something get a free Spork along with your purchase so you should go ahead and do a quick purchase and you get stickers and markers and all that kind of fun stuff now as far as the um as far as Mew goes we're early so they are getting through the App Store and getting through the Chrome the uh um the Google store so as soon as the app is uploaded then you'll be able to onboard but as soon as you scanned in like as soon as you scanned in your QR code an email was sent to you from we look giving you instructions on how to how to claim Bittle bucks and you'll learn more about that in just a few minutes um at registration of course the way and you guys already did this so so bear with me you go to welook.com or we look you log in um you can go ahead and download the new wallet if you want to um and you enter the registration queue you show your Q your QR code you can either do that by actually showing the email QR code or if you've loaded we look you can click on the ticket itself and it'll have a little view QR button and you can display that and now you're in you'll then get an email from we look that says claim your biddlebox now and then you'll go and if you need help the folks over at the Mew desk will help you and you'll be able to do the claim process which if you follow the email is actually quite simple once the app is uploaded so that will probably happen sometime today I know personally from the Hard Knocks I went through when we did the my Colorado app those of you who's got my Colorado app by the way you do well um there were some problems last year and it took us a month to get the Google Store to let us upload to let us upload a new one I hope that won't be the case here um so anyway you'll click on it and you'll be locked and loaded to get your Bittle bucks which will get you free food right everybody knows about the free food the food trucks um and there'll be more talking about that when Ramon gets up here to talk so your wee card many of you have ignored your weak card your week card is actually really cool it's how at the event we're going to be able to scan your we card and very quickly get you into the places that you're supposed to get into um and so what you'll do is you'll open it up you'll connect your wallet or else you can create a new wallet um using that we we look dot IO interface should be very simple and you get a really snazzy card you can see I put golden the Golden sporky on mine to make sure that I could recognize it and everybody else could recognize me and now we have Ramon right thanks dude you're welcome we're gonna bring up a Ramon in just one second but before we do I'm going to kind of skip forward here a minute but we're going to come back to all this come on guys there we go okay Kevin walkie sir join me hello everyone so does anybody know this guy so uh Kevin's a walking meme himself and I met Kevin I know oh walking meme I actually I have another meme that I love to say that most conferences too much talking not enough a walkie mine thank you thanks for continuing to to push that Meme pushing it man so I met Kevin years and years ago before Bitcoin was actually even a thing and we were running around the Meetup scene and we just had a lot of shared ideas about like what Colorado could be what the culture is here why we like it why we live here and um he actually is the guy who originally came up with the Show Colorado beam again memes everywhere man it's like so dumb how many memes we have but it's so much fun I came up with the idea you did it though you brought all these people to Colorado I put it into the ethersphere but yeah but we co-create a lot together quite a bit actually and um he's got another project so super modular if you don't know is built a product called Bittle box which is powering our hackathon now a little bit later in the program we're going to do a demo of that so you'll get the actual kind of technical how to's with Jason and his team are going to do but I wanted to give Kevin just a second to uh talk a little bit about super modular Biddle box and why this partnership is important yeah totally well yeah John it's been really great to see you grow the East Denver Community along with the uh Spork Dao over the last couple years uh over the last few years I had been growing git coin which uh has Bitcoin hackathons and get coin grants get coin is now a dow of its own and it's got its own governance structure and my company super modular how has inherited the hackathon platform and so we've Run 100 hackathons as get coin hackathons and um that that we learned a lot helped a lot of hackers get coins pun intended through that time and over the last six months we've completely Rewritten the entire platform and have gone through a Rebrand to to Bittle box because git coin is now a Dao with its own governance structure now bittlebox.
io is the future of our hackathons product and so um completely nuts and bolts redid it and the team has experience of doing a hundred hackathons before but this is their first time using the new platform so um if you have any issues with it you can just tweet us Bittle box or you can email support bittlebox.io and we're really looking forward to continuing to support Colorado Shilling Colorado with you John so so thank you for the opportunity and I hope that everyone enjoys using battlebox this year at East Denver thanks Kevin appreciate you man all right now I gotta come back up here come back up here okay oh my gosh here we go Biddle bucks not Bittle box change the Val and let's bring up my friend Ramon so I talked about the concept of dog fooding but one of the other things that we love to do is demonstrate collaboration interoperability cross-pollination shared intelligence and ultimately shared experiences is the old end result of that but this year so well 2019 we did the first installation of crypto enabled food trucks so the idea was to give people a tangible experience of using crypto and something real live to buy something so every year we've kind of iterated we've we've added subtracted experimented and this year we've got another huge class quite a big collaboration this has been going on for literally like months and months and months and months and months of prep and building to culminate in your experience with Bittle bucks and I'm going to hand it to to you in you ready so uh take it away good morning everyone super super excited to be here today uh my name is Ramon I'm the head of product for ZK sync and we are just building we are just like launching easy Sin Cara which is the greatest zkevm layer 2 ever built this is not me saying I'm actually quoting my mom here uh super incredible so as you know buying food with crypto it's a must-have for if Denver this year is no exception and when we receive this challenge we receive a super clear requirement creating a fabulous swing awesome experience for purchasing food with crypto and of course this incredible collaboration between these five teams if Denver meal CK Sin Cara we look and Billo Geto that has never worked together so you can imagine how exciting was to to start this project but this is actually how we like to work is putting our hands down uh start talking and start figuring out so what was our main uh what we wanted to achieve how do we on board the next batch of humans into crypto we want to we wanted to create an experience that was super seamless especially for crypto newbies we want to progressively get these people to understand more about crypto about security uh and they should not care about gas like gas fees uh it's a next step when you are playing around with crypto and how we solve these problems first web true detecting system with a look you can learn more about wallets about nfts my uter wallet a step-by-step creation of wallets so you understand security and how do you select networks and with the casing camera we have account abstraction MP masters with a native thing from our Network super incredible as my mom like to say and you can bring this web to experience to the web 2 world the result bitterbox as we just said not video box which is also incredible but the token for this year so you can buy food and the experience itself you can download monitor wallet you have this beautiful if Denver Banner you click on it you have this button to claim your bitterbox important to say the claiming experience only starts in the main event on March 2nd so for now you can already download for sure but you will not be able to do the claiming you click to claim uh you must have checking into the event of course we just want to give these tokens for people that are actually attending here you need to insert your ticket code that you received by mail or you can just scan the QR code that you also received and then I guess that is also on the on the on the badge you insert you send a message to make sure that you want this wallet uh and that's it you got your video box you can now go and buy food how do you buy food you are asking you basically will go to a food truck they will have a QR code you click to scan this is scan to buy you scan the QR code you insert the amount that you need to pay for the the vendor you again sign your message you don't need to have if you don't need to have anything aside from your video box behind the scenes we are using as I mentioned account abstraction pay masters go to our booth to learn more about it and Magic is done you just paid for your food you get your food you are happy everyone is happy but you can get more video bucks for people that are building during the main event you can get your mentors to sort of register that you are there and then you are entitled to more beetle bugs every day that you that you go there and there will be sponsors Distributing more video bucks for everyone uh that's it for for the experience this year I do hope that everyone enjoy super seamless but then you say ah ah no sorry it's missing a super important link here uh in the old presentation you can say I don't want to download wallet I will ask you why not you don't like incredible experiences you say no I don't fair enough you can use a regular wallet go into claim.bidobox.com but again this will be live on March 2nd uh just a few links if you want to reach out if you want to know more about TK sync please go to our booth come to talk to me come to talk to our friends and again super super excited to be here and have to say it was an incredible experience to work together with all these teams thanks everyone [Applause] thank you so much no it's fine all right now we're going to get into some technical stuff um the nuts and bolts so to speak Jason you ready man so um quick shout out to these guys so the support that we have to put in now for judging bounties Bittle acts mentoring sponsor support holy [ __ ] okay like it is a lot of work and it is tireless and a lot of times thankless so Jason congratulations on not dying um well I guess we're not there yet we're not there like we'll celebrate that on March 5th maybe uh maybe the 11th right we gotta get through judging yeah yeah um but yeah so thank you to this team the stewardship has done a fantastic job we got a a bunch of the team that's going to come up and do some of the presentation here so I'm going to hand you the mic and let you take the next several sections okay you got it thank you all right how you guys doing how many of you are here to Biddle all right well I can tell you that based off of all the applications that we've had this year we have had about 7 500 people say that they're coming to eat Denver this year to Biddle now as far as how many people have claimed their tickets to come that's about 6400 so out of 7 500 6400 of you are coming here to Biddle or participate in the middle-athon which is really large so we're going to have to really work on the whole team formation part of making sure that you guys are on teams because if we were to take up the entire time it would take like uh I don't know I think it was like 56 hours to get through all the judging on Sunday so that's why we've come up with different types of rules and different ways to make sure that we get through the entire judging process on Sunday between the 10 a.m and 2 p.
m part so I'm going to talk a little bit about the the judging and the tracks and the prizes and then Casey's going to come up and talk about mentoring and what that's going to look like and then Raven's going to come up and talk about the Biddle X and biddler experience that gets into more of like the team formation so let's talk about the five different tracks that we have this year so we have the D5 the D5 District which is uniswap we have regen landia which is tracked by hedera we have the Dow track Dao Town Track by Colt Dao Meadowland District game 7 and devtopia track which is circle so each of these five tracks as a team of two to four people you will pick one of these five tracks to participate in in your project so um your team of four two to four one of these five and you just kind of choose and we'll go from there so let's talk about we just talked about the five tracks um you can only enter one of those five tracks there will be a total of 15 teams that are picked from the five different tracks that will present on the main stage on Sunday let's talk about Judges so we have had over about sixteen hundred different people apply to be judges this year we've narrowed it down to about a hundred that list actually hopefully the internet is now working and now it's published and posted and so that will actually list and it will show you the incredible group of Judges that we have this year that will be judging the community part which is actually the first part and I'll talk about that in a moment about how how they're broken down um so then there's sponsor bounties so we've had about I think it's 180 different bounties available to you from about 89.90 of our sponsors there's about 1.2 million dollars in bounties available to you so you're going to have a lot of great opportunities you can submit up to 10 bounties per project so one track 10 bounties they're are only in-person bounties so there's a lot of people that ask like last year we had both in-person and virtual this year there's only in person there are no such things as virtual bounties your entire team has to be physically present in Denver to participate in the middle-athon you can't have someone that's hanging out in uh say San Francisco or some other state so the first round of judging and this is going to happen on Sunday is that at 8 A.M your projects are due if you submit at 801 you won't be able to submit because of the contract at 10 A.M judging round one starts so that's where those 100 about 100 judges will sit at each individual track and they will be judging based off of different types of criteria that have been established and then that will end around 2 p.
m and then we'll end up basically they are going to work through figuring out who their top three picks are for every single track so there will be three teams from every single track that will make it way to the main stage for the final round the pitches this year are going to be a minute and 30 seconds to pitch your project it's both a pitch and a science fair so you will be assigned a table to allow people people to come see you and engage with you to ask questions about your project it's also going to be the place where sponsors are going to go to get together with you to understand the project and how you use their bounties and then you are also going to be pitching on a main stage so there's like five to eight different stages so it really depends on how many projects are submitted if we have a lot of projects we might end up using all eight stages if we're aimed at where we think we are we'll be at like five five or six stages and again top 15 the eatdenver.com forward slash judging that will take you to all the information about what judging looks like the second round which is the second part of Sunday is only the top 15 teams the presenting time that you'll have is two minutes and 30 seconds and then you'll have a minute to answer your judge questions there are five celebrity judges that will be announced on Sunday and they are basically there to listen to your pitch and then they will each individually pick their favorite project and then you'll receive a monetary prize as well as a you know walk away with knowing that you won some really awesome person that has uh made big difference in blockchain and web3 as their uh favorite pick so how do you qualify for prizes well first you got to have a team so you got to be a team of two to four members solo doesn't qualify this isn't a solo sport um we're really about let's actually find teams and build people build teams so that we can build really great projects um again you and your team must be physically present at eat Denver to submit a project present a project and win a prize or a bounty you cannot steal another team's code or use previous code from another biddle-a-thon and you must submit your project between three March 4th at 8 pm to March 5th at 8 A.M to qualify prizes this year I said it earlier we're at 1.2 million dollars in prizes there's an additional two million dollars in Investments and grants you also have access to unlimited capital from over a thousand different accredited investors that are here this year there's monetary prizes so this is both the track prize pool which is fifteen thousand dollars per track so there will be three teams per track that will get distributed between those three um those three teams and then again there's the celebrity judge recognition as well as the cash prize that comes with that so dates um what time is it well it's 11 44 so that means that biddlethon has already began um so if uh if you haven't already started biddling you can start biddling there we go uh Saturday March 4th 8 P.M that's when the the gates will open on Bittle box you'll be able to go and start submitting your projects and then on Sunday March 5th at 8 A.
M the project window will close and if you again it happens every year don't don't be the the person that comes at 801 and I have to say unfortunately the the contract is already closed um so the way that we're helping solve that problem is that one of the first things that we're really helping hoping to do with Bittle box is if you said that you were a biddler you already have white listed access to bitterbox so if you when you went through the application if you now go to biddlebox.com and go to the eat Denver landing page you'll be able to sign up and create a pro file and then you can actually start creating your team and if you didn't we also have a form to help you guys get into the bit of Thon so um also the kind of the last miscellaneous things now for the last like eight weeks we've been doing these uh um raise your sporks like podcast talks talking about how to prepare for the biddle-a-thon one of the most common questions that we got is how does chat GPT fall into play well it does not count as a team member you can use it use it but it doesn't count as a team member um don't cut corners or cheat and be really cool collaborate if you don't have a team or you feel like maybe an imposter Don't Fit Don't Be a don't be that we have a lot of great things set up this year Casey's done a phenomenal job preparing for all the uh all this all the mentors and Graven and Tom have been doing a great job at figuring out how to really crack the biddler experience to make sure we can really get team formation underway and we can have a lot of amazing projects this year at East Denver so with that Let's uh let's bring up Casey and uh talk about mentoring thanks Jason yeah buddy uh so so welcome uh this year and uh and the mentor program is the largest we've had uh of all the denvers and you can see uh 375 mentors are available to each one of uh the teams this year um I I could even break this list down a little bit more but uh we have Founders Engineers designers uh attorneys uh professionals and all sorts of categories uh to really help and uh allow your teams to flourish while you're here uh at eat Denver um before I get started too much if uh if you guys see I'm wearing the onesie the buffer corn onesie if anybody comes up to me uh with wearing one of these I'll give them a free buffer corn so uh let that be uh some motivation for you um where can you find help uh while you're here biddling um The MENTOR booths are a great uh starting point if you look kind of back in the uh the back corner over there uh with that yellow drape um centrally located you'll be able to find um approximately 40 to 80 mentors at any given time and that's actually 24 hours while the event's happening so um if you guys need any help that's a great first place to start um obviously a lot of biddlers here are not actually on site most of the time most of you guys might be in hotel rooms you might find a coffee shop and if you come across a problem that you think a mentor might be able to help you we have our Discord channel so uh the anything that starts with mentors uh in the Discord will be a great place for you guys to come and find some help the uh the bill Mentor desks are like I said open 24 hours and a great opportunity to practice your pitches on that Sunday before the judging commences you can head over to any of those mentored areas at the sports castle and uh practice your pitches so that's a great way to kind of get the bugs and the nerves out of your system um oh that's my last one uh if anyone has any questions like I said uh let us know uh we're here to help you uh the the bitlers are the bread and butter of of this uh Innovation Festival so um make sure that if you guys have any problems uh uh a qualified Mentor is definitely going to be able to help you out so um sponsors thank you guys [Applause] hello we gotta get to the right slide hi I am Graven I am the biddler steward basically just means I'm going to be in the trenches with you all week uh our goal is to help connect you with the bounties the sponsors the mentors that Casey was just talking about and form teams that's obviously the first step of having a successful build-a-thon something I'm super passionate about I met my co-founder for a project I've been working on now for two years at East Denver and we want that for you so um just some quick tips as you get get started here obviously a lot of stuff going on um don't be shy engaged talk to new people uh there's no sybils here we're all real people uh so you don't have to be worried about getting scammed when someone comes up and talks to you take advantage of that it's really a magical week where you can get access to people that if you reached out in the DMS they're probably gonna have to ignore you so um just be out there have an open mind try to build a well-rounded team as we try to expand web 3 ethereum blockchain into the mainstream we need designers we need Business Development we need marketers all those things so try to bring those things into your build-a-thon team those are the people that are going to be up on the stage that can build a compelling narrative have talked to users have talked to different people and of course yes build Great Tech too the final thing be clear about your goals is you're building a team if you're here just to have fun uh and someone's more serious and can be grinded 24 7. be upfront about that even though this will be fun no matter what you're going to have a lot more fun if you have a team that you've established what you want to do ahead of time as we try to support your team building if you if you're coming just as a single Builder or maybe you have three and you're looking for a fourth or looking for a subject matter expert or a domain uh expert to fill out your team we're going to be doing a bunch of different events and different things um here at the Biddle Hub all week up until we move over to National Western at 10 30 we're calling it a shelling time just on the other side of those uh barriers just an open-ended time if you're looking for a team looking for a single person that's the time to meet up it'll be in between the workshops here so we're not you you won't be missing out on too much hopefully just come hang out find someone starting a new conversation at 2 30 every single day starting tomorrow we're going to have more structured events we'll do some speed dating some icebreakers that sort of stuff we'll try to not make it too corny but it'll be a good way to get the introverts out of their shells talking and uh meeting new people on Monday and Tuesday we will also be having some Pitch sessions um we'll figure out some sign ups get people out here uh like Casey said practice your pitch get the nerves out you can pitch yourself your project um or your team if you're depending on what stage in the build-a-thon you're you're in and then yeah all day every day lots of people here all sorts of events be on the lookout for people with biddler badges stewards struck up a conversation uh you never know what that might lead to and then of course Discord online the team formation channel right there hashtag team formation 2023 if you're looking for someone so hopefully we're hitting it on all cylinders got a lot of different options um if you are a single biddler come find a steward we'll we'll try to point you in a direction to find a team to do something great that I think I'm good all right cool uh we're gonna so we're gonna play a tutorial kind of explain how Bittle box works that way we're that way we all understand how how the system works let's see here I think I gotta close this out gotta go to Bittle box got a demo video I think we got the volume all the way up Bob all right I hit play it is going mm-hmm let's look internet I mean the volume's all the way up just give us one sec here we're gonna just check the audio interface you guys got the uh did you give him the you gave him the videos didn't you so if you guys just want to load it up from the back that'd be great and just you serve our feed so it's playing looks like I don't know what you're doing I was just closing out the window oh you're on the wrong one what are you doing man we lost the internet Casey um it plays but it doesn't there's no idea as you can see here this is my private dashboard settings here [Music] um your interests and that will follow your line your available profile on bitterbox but for now I'm just going to log in with my already created account uh [Music] role my pfp Etc I on my dashboard I could see my hackathons that are currently running that are suggested for me to join right now we have the secret era hackathon and the if Denver hackathon which we're all here for um and let's just go ahead and jump into that landing page so this is the landing page for youth Denver 2023 as you can see there's a call to action here to sign up the submissions will open nine days but you're free to register and create your projects before that you can see the price of money uh and the sponsors that are sponsoring the hackathon this year which is awesome and you'll see that the bounties down here sorted by tracks so in the sponsor bounties tracks we have uh something like 170 bounties which is amazing and you're free to apply to up to 10 of those sponsor Bounties in the East Denver track we got five bounties that you can only apply to one per project so be sure to pick one that you uh would like to build on for the total length of the hackathon so I'm just gonna go ahead and sign up for the hackathon so this is where I will fill out the questionnaire uh so I'm going to do Morty Pearson my email is automatically fed into this questionnaire because for the Denver hackathon you have to create your account with the email that you registered for the hackathon with through the East Denver form so be sure to do that because if not you're not going to be on the whitelist to join the hackathon I'm going to fill up my info hair so I'm going to do my Discord my GitHub my country CD this is needed for the sponsors to be able to kycu in case you win so be sure to fill this out correctly this part you select where you heard about the hackathon your skills these are autofilled from when you created your account but you can remove them and swap them around if you want to work with other stuff in the in the hackathon so I'm going to do JavaScript Python and I'm not going to be a business developer I'm going to be a full stack developer and I'm going to hit next so this is the information I'm providing for the hackathon organizers and co-sponsors I'm going to accept that and sign up for the hackathon now I'm confirmed I can either jump in to find a team where the Discord for sportdow is linked and you can go ahead and try to find a team in the Discord or you can wait with finding a team for later you can always add teammates remove teammates and join other teams at a later stage if you meet someone in person at the event or whatever so let's go ahead and create a project for the hackathon as I want to read about this earlier on the landing page I saw there was a cool project or some cool bounties and I wanted to work on those so I'm just going to do a project name here I'm gonna do a fussy duck and it's a fuzzing tool for smart contracts that's my my plan to build in this hackathon I'm gonna hit next and here is where you show interests and challenges basically that means that you're showing interest you're not applying to them directly you can always change them during the hackathon but so I'm going to do the let's see I'm going to do the infrastructure on scalability and then I'm going to do pick 10 bounties here as well from the sponsor bounties um let's do these find another sponsor here CK sync Bounty there we go and then these will be listed here so I have picked four out of 10 sponsor bounties and one out of one East Denver track Bounty gonna hit next here I can add team members you can always do this later but if you know your team members you can invite them here remember they have to be whitelisted for the hackathon as well gonna create my project this is now my project page as you can see my submit project button is uh transparent I cannot submit now because submissions won't open until I think it's the evening of the fourth and the submissions close uh the morning of the 5th so be sure to submit your project within that time I can see the hackathon I'm attending my short description my project name and my team members here this is where you will be doing your work for the hackathon you can add a video if you want to have a video presentation for the judges you can add a long description of the project you can add a demo URL if you have like a versa page or a demo website up and running of the project you can add team members and remove team members so I'm just going to add a team member here to show you how that's done um had a team member that in white was sent out and I'll show you in the dashboard of that user afterwards how you accept the team invite the challenges are not live so you can't like um submit to them right now so I'm gonna do the Milestones Milestones are journaling that you have to do uh during the hackathon so all projects in the hackathon needs to fill out these as you go along and they will be prompted by the East Denver team they open and close within certain times and you'll get an email when they are soon to close but be sure to check by the Milestones to see that you have filled them out correctly settings this is where you link to your work code Etc you can link GitHub Google Drive Dropbox whatever you want to provide the judges when they do the judging demo URL this is your wear cell app or whatever website the video URL this is the embed video that you want to have on your your overview page here um the project name the short bio the long description Project logo change that um let's do that save and then you can add your Twitter link Discord server telegram email if you want that as well that will be publicly displayed on the project as uh when it's submitted and you can't change it anymore this judging tab is showing to me because I'm a judge in the hackathon but it won't be showing for any of the builders so uh now I've changed my pfp all is good I will be able to submit the project when the submission is open when you are submitting your project basically what you're doing you're gonna select the challenges that you're finally applying to so I'm going to add some more here now you see like I have four out of 10 challenges there I'm going to do one more near Bounty scroll bount D and they will fill up so um the more I select here like if I did something with threshold I can add that as well and when you submit you'll basically be submitting to those challenges the judges will come in and look at their Project based on the challenge and not a global rating so be sure to like read up on the challenges um what they're about and uh their judging criteria so looking at this one they're looking at the technical the ux and designed Innovation and creativity looking at the resources here acceptance criteria the description and how much is paid out for the price winners um yeah I think that's it I'm looking forward to seeing what you're creating in hackathon and if there's any questions feel free to jump into this worked out Discord or into um or send an email to biddlebox at supermodular.xyz thank you and I'll see you at East Denver keep on biddling uh yeah so just give us a second we're having a little bit of a internet bandwidth issue and it like reset our slides and it's not loading it's not loading uh Jason Lee if you're around dude come over here please with your laptop with that PDF you really want to refresh it you really want to do that okay cross your fingers right well while we're waiting to do his demo um do you do you have a slide deck up Josh the whole thing here come up here and just let's swap out take the mic [Music] so y'all here [Music] dude do not make sounds like that please yeah well we can open champagne later but that was not champagne so let's not make sounds like that it freaks people out okay so uh we're gonna talk more about bufficorns so last year um last year at Denver we we foreshadowed this thing uh called DNA swapping but we've actually evolved the naming convention to buff a trade swapping so um it should be can we take the HDMI feed now and put it up there you go all right so we talked about this last year and uh we've been working on it all like literally since the summer um we came out of hibernation from our buff asleep after two months after the event last year and we started working on the buffer trade swapper so I'm gonna let Josh explain all what this is but essentially this makes bufficorns incredibly flexible in terms of an asset class uh traits um desirability Rarity I mean all sorts of cool stuff so Josh you ready yeah oh here's my first slide all right here's a second so last year we debuted the buffcorn Biddle Brigade uh lots of people minted them I think we have like 40 200 unique holders ideally we could get that all the way to ten thousand that would be amazing because there are 10 000 of them so one of the first steps on our roadmap was launching the uh swap.buffaccorn.
com um Denver is all about expressing your own inner creativity and instead of trying to create a nft suite where it's a digital Country Club that you have to spend an arm and a leg for the floor has stayed relatively low actually around mint so that instead of trying to find the perfect buffer corn for you you can just get whatever you want off the floor and then with the community trade for the traits that you like uh this is co-creation so we just did a two-month beta test uh it went really well uh 32 people did 2500 swaps there were 708 unique buffer coins that were involved uh here are the stats I don't need to go through all of them headgear was the most swapped trade and then if you look over there on the right side this uh trippy with the little chain link earring that was the the most most uh most swapped that's the the DNA for number 23. okay I was told not to do a demo live because you know how those all turn out but we're gonna do it anyway we're gonna see if we've got internet and we're gonna try to do a live demo so this is what it looks like here's the buffcorn bill Brigade trade swapper I put six in a demo wallet oh the internet's working all right so these are the these are my buffies over here on the right side is the person that you want to trade with so the default is set to trade with yourself but what you can do is you can click on this and you can try to trade with somebody else does anybody have an ens handy that's got a buff corn I'm not gonna be able to do that I know this one works all right our cast tag all right please have internet let's do it yes all right so I typed in an ens of my friend and his buffer corn showed up so here they are I can click on one of them and click on one of mine and I can offer him a trade which is kind of cool I can also self-swap with myself so let's say I would like to trade the jetpack for the samurai sword this is the back so I can go to the back click confirm this screen does take a little bit it's a preview and what it's doing is it's trying to calculate the Rarity difference between them and add up the points and it's going to then display a preview hopefully very shortly yes it's going to show a preview of the Rarity impact and then what it would look like when the samurai sword goes from the right side to the left side and then I can go confirm swap it's going to pop up a metamask transaction sign and this should be very quick any questions so far no great awesome okay there are a bunch of things that you can do with this there we go I swapped sometimes that screen comes up when you refresh it comes to the swap there we go hey all right round of applause for the swap yes the live demo works okay there are a few other cool things you can do here no new notifications I should not have refreshed okay so from the home page you can see the recently swapped items so that worked the swap that I just did showed up as the last swap there's a list of the last like 40 pages worth of swaps here then I can come down here and look with the community so if you have a buffcorn you've got a trait you can offer it up to somebody else I preset this one let's hope it works another another buff corn said I want to swap the robot for the toxic waste I have toxic waste toxic waste eyes so I can do is I can confirm this it's going to be another transaction I'm it's showing me what is being offered of the eyes robot for toxic waste which sign to execute and then very shortly the eyes will swap yes the live demo worked and everybody applauded okay [Applause] uh all right you've got uh when you scroll down on the page you have a list of the completed offers you go a little bit further and you've got full sets you can go through and create full sets uh they do have a metadata tag that makes them a little bit more rare which is kind of cool and then what you can do is you can go to your profile page by clicking it here it'll show you all of the bufficorns in your wallet it'll show you all the swaps that you've done and any offers that might be open and I accepted this offer is there anything else that I need to show you there's there's a lot of features that we jam-packed in here I think I got it okay yeah you might want to like what what's your favorite trait Josh I mean you're like a buffer corn like herder yeah so many oh this is tough all the ones on my buffer corn are my favorite uh which you you can see it's like your children bro well they're all my favorite yes I love all my children so this is this is me on the left this is my uh my my uncle gave me a 30X Stetson so I love my Stetson even though I always wear a blue hat the Yerba mate love guayaki if you're trying to get on my good side Enlightenment is my favorite flavor oh it's delicious we got the colorful sweaters here too it's always here already Denver or so like it's like a thing of course that's why it's a meme yes uh D20 die because I'm a huge nerd I like scuba diving so that's why yeah and then I'm one of the founding stewards of opolis so I got my little work earring there we go those are my favorite traits nice love it what's your favorite trait mine I'll have the Super Soaker it's like my my like my little favorite play toy yours has a super soaker why do you think I have it will you trade for a Super Soaker I did that one but that's why part of the reason why I picked it well we'll figure something else out to trade the poker cards are cool too those are pretty rare oh it's right here and I don't know if you guys even were paying attention to the potential Alpha leak here but nowhere in the existence of the last few years of bufficorns has they ever had legs you guys see that nobody noticed that there's legs on that buff corn yeah there is cool all right thank you I'll see uh oh uh Before I Let It Go um we have a exclusive Lounge at the core venue it uh at the National Western in the sport castle Yeah the sport Castle uh you need one to get in uh we'll be scanning based off of the we look cards and also in the we look app um there's a lot of really cool things we're doing in there in person trade swapping there's a leaderboard that'll be launching where you'll be able to compete for trying to create the coolest or and or rarest buff corn or the least rare buff of corn lots of different things we're gonna be doing and the artist Sergio who's been with eat Denver since the beginning will be signing uh photocopies of your buffer corn so get a buff corn swap it and bring it to the event awesome get above the court everybody all right uh we're gonna do a quick AV switch because we're having internet issues still are you direct plug or do you need an adapter okay keep it on the HDMI feed please uh that's not it there you go all right can you yep there you go all right so witty pixels we're going to talk about that uh so every year we do like engagement farming type of stuff so again experimentation we try to you know think about like incentives game incentives to like get people to talk to each other get to engage explore a little bit get out of your shell conferences don't do this kind of thing so we um in 2019 built the first nft scavenger hunt and we're going to talk about our integration as well after witty pixels um but Winnie pixels has built an engagement game for the event that you'll be able to participate in you should have gotten a um like a medallion that's on the lanyard to go along with your event badge and he'll model that for you here in just a second but uh without further Ado you want to come up Aiden sure come on up all right take it away thank you hey hey hey yeah I needed to do it good old memes never die so super excited to be here today uh presenting with the pixels it's a it's something that we have put a lot of effort and love and yeah and super proud to be presenting this to the whole um East Denver Community for those who know me uh they will know that I'm with winet a multi-chain decentralized Oracle and you will know that in addition of being known in the ecosystem for creating this amazing piece of decentralized oracles we are also known for uh the games that we have been on organizing over the last years um in different crypto events and this time without we have partnered with uh at Denver uh as part of this community uh to run the official game of the conference a game powered and brought to you by winner so uh all these uh with a thing if you have been to Denver last year or LCC Lasik on a lot of different events uh you are probably familiar with these uh X things the witty creatures things whatever um and this is um what we are trying with these games is to create a great um opportunity for people and for crypto events to dynamize uh their communities and to keep people entertained to keep people networking with each other which is something that people is really looking forward to after the pandemics and everything and each of these former editions of the games that we have been running have introduced different rewards different prices that have really kept people engaged to to the gaming so with um really pixels this year uh we are trying to paint together the future of crypto and what we are trying to give everyone here in Denver is a once in a lifetime opportunity to participate in the biggest collaborative Act of nft Creation to dates so by interacting with each other not working with other attendees what you will be doing is to collect pixels of different colors uh there are actually six different six different colors that match the colors of the villages in which the main event will be distributed and then you will be able to put those pixels into a shared canvas uh to create a true collaborative piece of artwork that will be Minted as an nft that will be fractionalized and you will be able to own a fraction of the nfts and some all some other goodies that I will explain now so uh the the the most visual part of this thing is obviously dependent you will get one of these really great looking uh pendants in the shape of a palette there are six colors uh you if you want to to get them you just need to go to the winner Booth over there over next to the registration area and as in previous uh with net powered games they have a QR code on the on their back and uh once you scan that QR code that um that will get um connected to your browser and you will own that batch and then you what you need to do is to go around networking with people showing your QR code to them and you will scan each other and you will get pixels of the color of their palettes so if I scan you you will get uh 10 red pixels the other uh big part of the of the thing is obviously the the canvas app so this is already live on really pixels.art I will not dare to do a live demo because the gods of live demos uh they don't like him they don't like me so uh these with with this uh with this app you can actually place the pixels into the canvas you can see uh how many pixels you have of each color in the palette you can choose the colors you can choose the shades you can see like your position your position in there in the leaderboard and everything another big uh Innovation this year uh it's something that it's going to be also very entertaining is that you can get actually like extra pixels like bonuses by scanning QR codes that will be hidden all around the place uh at the different booths in the main event also in different locations across the the venue and so on they look somehow like this one here please AV people if you if you uh zoom in probably I will show you the few seconds and someone in the in the live stream will will catch it and that will be a first bonus that is available oh yeah sorry like that oh yeah that will work yeah good enough so there were there will be hundreds of those so you you need to find them and but the key Innovation beyond that and the part that we are the most excited about is that uh uh on the last day of the event uh we will take like a final snapshot of the state of the canvas and that will be maintained as a near seat 721 nft that has a special feature which is fractionalization it that means that it will be broken down into little pieces that can be traded as erc20 tokens that that's what we call the wpx and that fraction annulation is actually powered and secured by the wined multi-chain decentralized Oracle so the amount of wpx that you will get is proportional to the amount of pixels that you place into the canvas and that make it to the final artwork in the in the nft so with this we are trying to make really pixels not only a great opportunity for networking and for having fun but also uh to be part of this collaborative Act of Creation and to actually have your name in the credits of that piece of of artwork and to actually own a fraction of the of the NFD so but what what does it really mean to own a fraction of it what what's the use uh what what do I want the wpx for that's that's what really has me the most excited about you will love this because as soon as the uh nft is fractionalized we will run at Dutch auction that means that there will be a initial price that will be decreasing over time we will start probably with 100 ether and um at any time during the auction anyone can come pay the public price like that ask price and they will actually own the whole ERC 721 uh nft and where's the money going the moment like the profit from that well uh we are splitting 50 to charity and 50 uh will be distributed back to the players of the game proportionally to the amount of wpx that that they hold so that means the more pixels you place into the canvas the more ether you will get so on top of all the gaming all the fun all the networking and everything you can actually go back home with some ether in your in your wallet this is also made uh possible thanks to the collaboration with uh the giving block which is a very cool project uh arranging crypto donations to um to Charities we have partnered with them uh to make sure that the ether actually reaches the organizations and the and the people who need it and I would also uh love to give a final thanks to the winner team and they win a community for making all of these possible and also uh to the to the east Denver organizers and the whole eventware Community because uh without them we couldn't be able to to build something so amazing so uh let's see what we create together let's video together thanks brother thanks whitnet uh I mean for sure play the game I mean this is literally going to be the biggest collaborative game experience ever produced given the size of each Denver so check it out if you haven't got your medallion yet there's a booth over by registration uh table that that whitnett's got that you can go and get signed up so I highly encourage you do it have some fun might as well YOLO all right poapps we got any poab farmers and call them whatever you want popes if you want poapps I can tell you that it's it wasn't Pope in the beginning call it whatever you want though potato potato so if you don't know poapp was invented at each number 2019 and it was um the first year that we had done an nft scavenger hunt using Kudos actually from git coin get coin Labs had been working on uh doing some nft stuff and then we decided to you know have some fun and actually build an nft scavenger hunt so in partnership with poapp we've been doing this since they've done it professionally we did it amateurally and now we've got a whole bunch of fun that's going to happen here so Russell is going to introduce both our perhaps scavenger hunt and he's also going to talk about buffer corn Ventures and after that we're going to wrap up so take it away thank you okay everyone um we're in the uh we're almost finished up here so get excited the poab scavenger hunt we have poapps all over the place all over the place every a very different Zone that you go in every different area they all have poapps many of the sponsors have poapps the sponsors are not just giving away poapps to anybody you actually have to go talk to them and stuff so you have to get out of out of inside your own head and actually not just ask them for a poet but actually you know talk to them the lounges all have one if you happen to find your way to the bufficorn adventures um you know Speakeasy Lounge which is hidden um and invite only but if you happen to find yourself you'll get you'll get a poet from there if you go to the BBB Lounge you'll get a PO up there if you go to the spork Wheel Lounge you'll get a PO out there my point is still get a lot of pull apps and we have the scavenger hunt which means that if you collect 20 then you get a silver sporky nft and then if you collect 52.8 which you can't so if you collect more than 52.8 which is 53 then you'll get the golden sporky nft and a special sporky pin that will also be coming so in addition to all these great po apps you'll also get some cool swag it's pretty exciting now the uh cool thing is that poapp and we look all work together so you know those Wheelock cards you have you can those are actually a poapp dispenser for you so you can have your poapps pick which one you want to dispense automatically and then when somebody uh boops your when you boop someone's card you'll see that you can mint their po app same thing for sponsors same thing for events you look for these signs so you see the signs up there um and what else is cool is all around Rhino there are all sorts of art exhibits and there are um there are merchants and vendors and bars that have the same signs so you can collect poapps with them as well now the ones from Rhino aren't included Rhino is including their own um gifts to give to people who are collecting the rhino-based ones um the ones we're talking about for our our scavenger hunt are just the ones that are at East Denver but all you have to do is tap your phone to the uh um to the uh chip that's right there where it says tap here and you'll be able to collect that poapp you just click mintpo app very very simple okay enough about that now let's talk a little bit about buffer corn Ventures uh I was we were up last year talking about it I'm the uh Venture Steward for about the core adventures and we are um we come out of Spork down and out of East Denver and we focus on super early Alpha stage um teams and what we do is we try to Foster them in whatever way that they need so they might be um two kids just out of school or it might be somebody who's a five-time Founder we help them in whatever way we can you'll see we already have 14 um 14 portfolio companies that we funded just in the last nine months which is a huge success and we have the running season the running season event happening on Thursday in the buffcorn adventures Lounge where you can actually see them going so exciting stuff many of the different companies that we've done you'll have already seen so um we're super excited about all the activations that are happening here we look was it came out of East Denver at the hackathon Cuba Finance out of the hackathon all these folks came out and we are building on utility right it's not about minting coins for us we're trying to make sure that there are new tools that are coming out that are helping the community and helping bring the other 99 of the population to web3 technology preferably without them even knowing so on the first thing you'll see is illust which is one of our uh one of our portfolio companies if you scan this you'll see an interactive augmented reality map that is all around it'll has places that you can leave messages you'll see a few of my nfts all over the place you can plant your nfts um there's actually an event going on today where you can put your nfts in the Capitol building and like rotunda there's an in there's an IRL nft exhibit there you can also put your own there so that it's there in in augmented reality very cool today it's open it gets locked down tomorrow so put your stuff there and then you'll be able to walk around and find cool things going on they've also got this cool pop protocol which only is visible when you're close enough to that point of presence that you can actually see it there and so you can like hide things or you can have a special note for somebody that happens to know to go to the corner of Larimer and 28th or something like that human Finance they're going to have a pitch a little bit later but they are a defy track winner from last year they are doing so well they're already a sponsor they're doing a mini Summit um they are Keenan well they're keynoting and they're going to be part of demo day so we're super excited they've got bounties uh couldn't be more happy about what they're doing Yoruba last year they were known as Tavern keeper another winner from East Denver um and they if you visit the Denver Discord um you'll be able to do quests that they've added buffacor Adventures actually uses them to onboard through our Discord as well so they're doing amazing work and get ready um get ready to build it with them New Frontier works is another one Mitch Valentine somewhere around here I saw him and you can these are two different projects that they deployed on the left on the right hand side for you is where you can mint a penguin nft that actually allows you to sponsor an entire incubator that saves up to 200 penguin chicks in South Africa per year or if you don't have if you're not ready to make that kind of commitment for 18 you can mince an nft penguin that will allow you to um fund Penguins International which is a local non-profit um Katie who runs it is here somewhere running around as well so really cool you can spend two of your Spork to Mint a new sports star token a new nft which is really cool there's also some other really cool things on that website that you might want to check out um that I can't talk about finally we've done a lot of talking about we look you already know about them now what I'm really excited about them is uh in real life token gating which you're already experiencing here and you'll see through the week hard um goodbye Ticketmaster hello we look and that brings us almost to the end John do you want to come back up and and knock this one out of the park thank you thanks dude all right we're coming to the end you guys ready to be done with this I am thanks Russell okay so social media hang on let me just finish this tweet okay social media Twitter at ethereum Denver if you haven't seen it already go check it out hashtags eat Denver you're the spork put a spork in it and various Biddle iterations so Biddle bittleathon biddlers you get it um everything's good you know memes are great we love it we like photos too so tag people share you know you can hashtag at you know hashtagender at ethereum Denver we like views we like engagement we like all sorts of stuff I mean it spreads the word right so we really like this stuff Instagram Addie Denver um videos are great you can add us you can post your own content you can do whatever you want like Buffy The Buff corn sightings take pictures take videos do all the fun stuff Discord dot GG slash sportdow this is where a lot of activities happening so if you have questions especially about like bitter lacks or from a sponsor or just the team in general like go to the Discord you can find people there that can answer your question if in case you're not on site or if you've got some of the questions you can't particularly find somebody to help and then last but not least Community really matters so do this stuff social media is kind of part of the mainstream thing nowadays so like we can't really get away from it it's just around and we embrace it so um share your experiences we like to see it uh we love to see it so check it out now I just tweeted from my Twitter account at John power Okay so doing that I just put out an offer that if you follow me you like and you retweet I will randomly select somebody who does those things today and upgrades you to sportwell status so I'd suggest you go grab that post right now and do and do that that's a 2500 value if you don't know and or 250 000 Spork Stakes so that's kind of a big deal if you don't know what that means there's like sporkwell lounges this is like our version of VIP so I'm basically upgrading you and I'll do that today a couple of final things near day happening on the main stage at the National Western sport Castle um that's going to be a huge day for them nine to five and it's like I said on the main stage incredible content from the near ecosystem a ton of collaboration with the ethereum ecosystem fantastic speakers I've seen the lineup so if you're at the venue which you've already got a ticket to be there I would absolutely come near dot org slash Denver is where you can go to check that out shelling point is also happening at the National Western Complex the same day this is more of an unconference format they have their own floor in their own area that they're doing this again fantastic speakers facilitators leaders Visionaries Founders that are going to be a part of this regenerative effort that we've got happening at shelling Point again Thursday the 2nd uh next week and then our official opening party powered by near the sporked out east Denver party is happening at the mission Ballroom and the doors open at 10 30 PM now with the opening ceremony is going to close probably somewhere around I don't know nine o'clock that night so like you'll have a little bit of a breather to kind of go get freshened up and then go out and then last but certainly not least is our official closing party at the National Western we are hosting a carnival theme and it is we have I mean I just saw the lineup of the entertainment it is going to be absolutely insane and we're going to just put a punctuation mark on this an exclamation point I bet is probably a better way to put it so we hope that you stick around for that and that's going to happen right after the closing ceremonies which closes about five o'clock on Friday so back to this if you like my tweet and you retweet it and you follow me I'm going to pick somebody randomly today to upgrade you to sportwell status that's at Power John so go do that right now I'm probably going to close that off about two o'clock this afternoon and then I will DM you um if you're selected as the winner all right so we [ __ ] up and we forgot to run a video from one of our sponsors so I'm doing a Shameless chill for human Finance so we're gonna put this video up uh let me see if I can play it from here hold on I don't know how to do that actually so can we uh play it from the back just hijack my feed here co-founder I'm the CTO of human fairness last year my team attended it is never hacked on and won the li-fi track when we went down launched as a company based on the demo no one year later we are back as a sponsor this is awesome right and I hope some of you guys will get a chance to do the same as well our mission is to power D5 for the 99 percent we do so by support of various Real World Landing use cases for example in our initial launch partnered with newquist network and super fluid we allow people to borrow against their receiver boss such as their invoices or payment strings the borrowing is a fully collateralized but the user does not have to pay a token from their wallet because we use their future income as a collateral this is pretty awesome right and the good news is I will not only support this there with the human protocol there is so much more amazing experience you can enable I'm pleased to share we have five bandages with a total reward of 25 000 usdc because of time I will only highlight one Bounty it is quitting line forever wallet we want to enable the experience that the user can access Credit from the wallet in a way makes the wanting to work more like a credit card I know somehow you guys would have said this is crazy and awesome yes indeed and the good news is that with the human protocol and a kind of abstraction we think this is pretty much durable we put quite some sorts in in the in the panty as an inspiration for you to get started please take a look I'm sure you can take much further than what we have we also have a few other bunties such as Nancy humor for the new payment Network or Nancy human foreign adapters makes the protocol more powerful or you might add in some kind of content pieces based on our experience of the last year it's so critical for the sponsors to be offer the best support for the builders to be successful so we created the offer the best support that we can and meanwhile we have a workshop on February 24th the first day in the Builder week and from 3 to 4 30 please mark your calendar and looking forward to see you around and have fun hacking in Denver and here are some QR code for our Twitter account thank you all right so this is kind of
