[Music] [Applause] [Music] hello my name is Rory pant and I am the community manager for chain [Applause] [Music] link the first thing you really have to understand is is what a smart contract is and a smart contract is an agreement similar to a contract but unlike a contract that you would normally sign for say purchasing your home at any point someone may not show up with the money or decides at the last minute that they're not going to give you the keys to their home and they're going to move out what do you do you have invested a lot of time a lot of resources and maybe even Financial investment and you don't have the opportunity to get what you thought you were guaranteed so what a smart contract is is a contract no matter what happens it will execute based on certain conditions so we have an agreement that people can no longer back out of once they've entered we do at chain leak is ensure that this data being delivered is reliable as reliable as this guaranteed contract that you've signed so we want to make sure that if something is determined upon price that you're getting a lot of different price feeds so that you can really take a look and aggregate those answers or take an average and really say with guarantee that I know what the price of this particular thing is at this given time so that if if this contract executes it executes with correct data every single time and so as much work as we put into creating the contract we also want to put that much work into ensuring that the data being delivered is the quality that we want [Applause] we're hoping uh to release on mainnet and so our real goal there is obviously tying everything together finishing up our final security Audits and ensuring that everything meets our high standards so that when we do have our main net release um and we flip the lights on we have a lot of interested parties participating from day [Music] one we're really becoming part of the actual ethereum ecosystem which is really why we're here in the first place that means talking to people from things like eth magicians who are actually building actively on ethereum uh we have a great opportunity to get updates from them and find out uh you know be prepared for sort of as they unroll new features or new solutions for ethereum how that individually can impact our project and how we can add features that will take advantage of maybe some of the scaling that ethereum is working on presently
