ETHGlobal #BUIDLathons Matter | ETHDenver

all right up next we have some eath global folks I believe that it was Ethan sweet Thank You Ethan here's Ethan from youth boat while also talking about education hackathons matter they're a great way for you to dream big right to learn new skills develop strong developer community and of course push the limits for new technologies we we at each global right want to support that kind of vision so about five years ago Liam Horn and Kartik Talwar started a little experiment called hack the North their goal right was to make sure that make it easy sorry for high school students and university students to come together and really challenge themselves to build something over a weekend and since then hack the North has become one of the largest hackathons in the world and certainly one of Canada's largest hackathons with over a thousand developers it's attracted incredible people like obviously the Talib uterine Balaji from 21 and Justin Trudeau the Prime Minister of Canada have all attended this event to show their support and a boat in 2014 Vitalik introduced Liam and carton and Karthik to aetherium and they realized one way that they could make a significant contribution was to take the lessons and the tools learned from running hack the north and apply that to start developing a strong aetherium ecosystem and from there 'if waterloo was born who here went to ether loo right it was awesome it was built on this philosophy that an aetherium focused hackathon could introduce even more talented developers to the incredible ecosystem that were building together and boy did that exceed our expectations it was it was the biggest etherium hackathon in the world at the time it attracted attendees and judges from around the world right it inspired eath denver and other hackathons and of course some of the projects included the initial meta mask implementation in initial plasma implementation a medicine meta mask implementation on brave brave browser plasma implementation and of course crypto kiddies hey exactly the crypto kiddies team is here in the audience but aetherium is more it's a global movement not just a local one we want to see a lot more aetherium hackathons like eath Waterloo and eath Denver and that's what we've created eath global but this is a time for experimentation so let's experiment we want to see aetherium hackathons thrive but running hackathons is [ __ ] hard work it takes a lot of effort for a large if a large group of organizers and volunteers to make these things happen and so at each global we can do some things to help we can reduce we want to reduce that overhead of running hackathons right by providing the tools and the resources they'll be generated from running hack the north and east waterloo and for help hackathons get mentors judges and sponsors to make really kick-ass events so we want to make sure that future aetherium hackathons don't have to reinvent the and we can start enabling amazing etherium hackathons and local communities across the world and that's what we're trying to achieve with each global we're super happy to be here at Eve Denver it is as you know as has been mentioned now twice at least twice the size of eath Waterloo and it's not even been a year yes and we're really excited of course to see all the projects that are gonna be developed here over the weekend if you want to learn more about youth global come talk to myself Karthik or Liam write or visit each global CEO and come sort of help us forward this effort we'd really appreciate the support thank you very much and have fun hacking this weekend [Applause]
