[Music] for this one. I'd like to bring on Sarah to tell you all about the Falcoin onchain cloud. Please give Sarah a big round of applause.
Hey. Hello. Hi. Nice to meet everyone. My name is Sarah.
I am the founder of Philby and I'll share a little bit about myself and what I'll be talking about today. So today I'll be talking about the sovereign cloud. Um it is actually the Falcoin onchain cloud and I'll be sharing a little bit more about what Falcoin's plans are in coming up in November which is really soon. So a little bit about me. Um my name is Sarah.
If you see me on Twitter I'm Truckering. Um, I was previously a developer experience lead at Protocol Labs and today Protocol Labs is a network of companies and so PhilB is one of the companies in that network. We are a public good developer experience team for Falcoin and so you'll see my team around a lot for the Falcoin ecosystem and we'll be very happy to hacking with hackers this weekend. And also we cover DX in the wider web3 space as well. This is actual footage of me in my job every day.
So if you did DX, you know what this feels like. the warm and gentle breeze of developer feedback and questions. Trust me, I really enjoy it. I'm happy like the sunflower. So, uh, what I want to talk about today is a problem that we all experience.
If you know, you know. If you use the cloud today in web 2, you'll know that it's actually really expensive. If you leave an instance running, it can rake up really high cost. And I think deepen in the past few years have really shown how it can actually bring it down to a fraction of the cost. Also, if you lie in bed bit at night thinking about where your data goes, who's in control of the cloud, you'll realize that there are not many options out there today.
And a lot of these options sit in the hands of just a few companies, which if they don't align with what you want, you don't really have many options out there. So, yeah, if you know, you know. So, here's our proposal from Falcoin. This is the vision that we have. Um, Falcoin has been a decentralized storage network for a very long time.
We are OG Dpin project and given the experience that we've had over the past 5 years, we want to expand the storage component into providing an onchain cloud infrastructure. We envision the Falcoin onchain cloud to be a marketplace for programmable onchain cloud services. And it's not just Falcoin building this time. We want to build a framework that invites many modular service services to come on board. So if you're familiar about the with the cloud, uh we want to be able to bring core components to this onchain infrastructure.
And we're not just looking at Falcoin itself. We want to invite more partners on board as well. Um not just partners in the space today, but also welcoming builders to come and build on the smart contract layer and add to this onchain cloud infrastructure. If you look over here, these are some main buckets and core components of a cloud. You'll have storage, which Falcoin has done for a long time.
We started with storage and we're still doing that today. It will be one of the flagship offerings and I'll be talking about that in a bit. So we do POR rep and we do PDP which are two key cryptographic proofs on filecoin today that help to ensure that your storage is guaranteed and stored in a decentralized manner. We want to invite decentralized compute as well and we've been working with a huge network of different partners in deepin and so we have some partners that are ready to onboard with us and we're very excited to bring them onto this onto this onchain cloud infrastructure. Um we're also thinking about networks.
So we actually have a working CDN today and so um I'll be talking about that in a bit. Very excited. that you can actually retrieve your data super fast um with Falcoin beam which is a CDN that's working with Falcoin today and we invite many more networks to come on board and also there are other platform services and other deep pin offerings that we see as opportunities for the Falcoin onchain cloud so this is this is a massive vision um it's going to take time to build and I want to start it off with talking about the flagship offering which is the first implementation of a service on the Falcon onchain cloud um I'll be talking about that in a bit but to make it super easy for you guys to remember the Falcoin on cloud. There's a very simple acronym here. Not going to have to say it out, but it's going to be easy to remember.
And so if you guys really want your cloud, this is it. Um can think about it that way. Um we'll be having many more statements like that, but we're very excited to be talking about this. So zooming into the storage component, um just some context for all of you. This is a storage evolution of Falcoin and also shows like why we are uniquely positioned as a network to be able to on offer this onchain cloud infrastructure.
We started with a P2P network IPFS and that is still going really strong loved by many and used by many. Um so we have really good experience with the networking infrastructure and then we started a blockchain which is a layer zero and has one of the earliest ZK proofs out there before ZK was a big thing. Um so we've been running proof of replication for a long time for post as a consensus on the Falcoin blockchain and so we have a lot of experience on that end too. Um in 2023 we launched the Falcoin virtual machine. So that was our smart contract layer which allowed us to start engaging with developers and has opened up the ecosystem for us a lot more and we saw that that was really what brought developers into Falcoin.
A lot of people wanted to use it and we finally were able to engage with DES with our VM ready. It is also fully Ethereum compatible and EVM compatible. So all the tools that you use on Solidity, hardhead and more can be used with it. I'm sure some of you have, but if you haven't, please do try it out. And so now that we've had the VM running for two years, and we've got a lot experience, hardened it, added more tooling, we're now ready to bring the onchain cloud.
I call it a layer two because we're also working with some subnet subnet frameworks if you've heard of inter interplanetary consensus IPC to bring much faster block times and much faster speeds onto the Falcoin network and allow these modular services to have options to either deploy onto Falcoin chain or to deploy into much faster subnets and to bring this onchain cloud to life. So more about Falcoin about why Falcoin is a really good network. Being in the in the DPN space for a long time, we have huge um a huge resource network committed to the Falcoin blockchain. We have about three exabytes of data committed capacity and we also have about 1 xabyte of data stored today which means that there are ton we have about 1,320 storage providers out there with hardware sitting in their homes. And this hardware can also be used for things like compute and so on.
So there's a lot of opportunity here for them to provide much more services to make this cloud um a real vision. We've also had a token that has been around for a long time. Um the Phil token has been around for a long time. It is stable. It's been running and is widely distributed.
And I'll be talking about how we've recently launched a stable coin and will make it part of this onchain cloud infrastructure. And so that will enable a lot more people to engage and to exchange and to use the Falcoin onchain cloud. So I just want to talk about the cloud architecture for the Falcon onchain cloud to give you a sense. Um the architecture is pretty simple. There's a lot more but at an abstract layer here it is.
There will be a proof layer which is still the Falcoin blockchain. Um that comes with the POR app and the PDP that I just talked about. PDP is actually one of our newer cryptographic proofs. And then we have the payments layer on top of that. So because the Phil token is widely distributed and we've also recently launched a stable coin which is backed by the Phil token, we will have one smart contract on the Falco onchain cloud that all transactions will run through and that will improve the utility of the Phil token and to keep the ecosystem healthy.
Then there'll be the services layer on top where we'll this is the smart contract layer where we'll be providing a framework where you can deploy different services and different creative services that you want to provide onto the onchain cloud and interact with the marketplace via the payments layer and so that will be the modular services. The flagship implementation that I'll be talking about in a second will be sitting at this layer on the services layer. And then on top of that, you can develop your different SDKs that will make it easier for desk to use all these different services and will let the different modular service providers provide those SDKs. So some recent breakthroughs of Falcoin uh Falcoin has been around for a while. We've had a lot of innovation in the past year and I wanted to highlight some of these and show how we are making really really fast progress towards this vision.
First, we have warm object storage that has been enabled on Falcoin. We call this Falcoin warm storage service and this is the flagship implementation that I was just talking about that the Falcoin onchain cloud will have actually has ready today and will be launching fully in November. We already have devs building of this and the feedback has been awesome. Um, if you've seen us, we've been running a few hackathons and a few cohorts. People have been using the SDK to build with this and it makes storage and retrieval really fast and the way that we expect it in web 2.
But now with Falcoin, we also have content delivery networks which made this possible. So Falcoin beam is a content delivery network that sits on the FOC that works with form object storage that allows you to retrieve your data. And as I mentioned earlier, we have stablecoin payment that has been launched a few months ago. So if you guys have heard of USDFC, it is um backed by Phil and is available on different um exchanges. So you can easily use stable coins to pay for these services in Falcoin today.
Lastly, we have the payment contract that I talked about and this is called Falcoin Pay. Um this is tightly linked to SLA native payments. So any any payments that you make on the Falcoin onchain cloud will be tied to policies that you set to ensure that providers are keeping to their SLAs and making the onchain cloud go at a speed that we all expect it to. So yeah, these are some examples of the stuff we've done. We've been running a co a few cohorts with the Falcon warm storage service.
It's active and live today. We'll be using it at the hackathon this weekend. I'll be there. Definitely come up and ask questions about it. Um, this is actually one of the first images that we retrieved with the CDN that is live today on Falcoin uh Falcoin Beam, previously known as Phil CDN.
It's one of the pictures of a stolen bite from one of our devs, but it is now, if you look at the URL above, this is not stored on IPFS. This is actually stored on the Falcoin warm storage service. So fully usable today. USDFC has launched. Um you can totally check it out online.
Um it is available for you to use. The circulating supply is going to be growing in the in the coming months. Um but very excited about that. And lastly, this is the Falcon W service architecture. Not going to jump super into it, but high level you can see how we have the different proofs interacting with this storage service.
So we're bringing from the blockchain to the smart contract layer and enabling and enabling options with the CDN as well. So this in in whole is a falcoin warm storage service and is enabled by an SDK that is called signups that you can easily use at a hackathon this weekend. So if you're interested in checking it out, this is a QR code you can scan. Um we have actually have a few uh devs building on it already and we have a lot of feedback. So if you want a cheat sheet to start using this and trying it out, welcome you to come onto the Falcon Slack and share your feedback with us.
Um but definitely check this out. It's really fun to use. So all in all, we'll be launching at Defcon in November. We're very excited. Look out for us at Deepend Day and many other activations across Argentina.
This is when the Falcoin onchain cloud is coming to everyone. Um we'll be at a lot of different activities and a lot of different hackathons as well. So definitely check us out in Argentina. And if you're interested to keep in contact to know what's coming up next, a lot of exciting things are coming. Here's a link to sign up for early access and you'll get emails to all the alpha that you need.
So yeah, really excited to see Falcon on Chain Cloud come to life and thank you. [Music]
