Interview: ETHDenver 2020 Diversity and Inclusion Steward – Lee Knight

hi I'm Lea this is my third time being a part of eath Denver so these last couple of years I have been a steward for eath Denver I was the previous year and the first year that eath Denver got started I dealt with diversity and inclusion as well as the after party during the first year and so at this point in time I am still contributing to eath Denver in terms of diversity and speaking on topics of diversity and inclusion and trying to create a more inclusive space using aetherium using blockchain to have a greater impact on those in the cryptocurrency world so on the front of eath Denver in the greater world of hackathons and community events on the etherion platform Denver is doing well but Denver needs to do better we can do more we can excel the percentages that we have of women people of colored by gender non-binary there's more to be done but in comparison to the other hackathons Denver is absolutely excelling and so that's just a a greater point that we have to be even better and to prepare a future that is more inclusive around aetherium last night we had a small conversation about diversity inclusion in the DJ children it was great because it was a small intimate space and we had about like 20 people show up to converse with us it kind of like a fireside chat on their takes on diversity inclusion and how to be better what to look for how to do these things and you know some difficult questions were asked of you know people from different backgrounds of how do I create this space that I want to see but how do I also get over the programming's that I've had from like a young child that completely expelled the ideas that are present in diversity and pertaining to how do we break these molds how like how do we get out of out of these rhythms that have been constructed that have created this history that's gotten to us to where we are and how do we break that history break out of that mold to do more for tomorrow and so we have these wonderful conversations we have these talks and we had these moments of inspiration to share with each other to do the work to put in the work to put that target on your back to be the recipient of hi what you're doing I don't like or hi what you're doing I really want to help you and so it's a tough road but it's a road that we almost travel if we were going to build a future that is inclusive for tomorrow one of the companies that is doing a significant job with trying to procure this future that is more inclusive for all of us is made and they're they're based out in Boulder and they are working diligently to create an application that is suitable for people who might not necessarily already be involved in this space and providing answers providing curation delivering in a way that can provide more information for people to be better and so to checkout maiden it is Christmas and in the etherium world every time that each Denver comes around and so people are happy people are joyful and people are excitable and and you you feel the passion of wanting to create a future that will be better for everyone and so we're all here getting together being excited and partaking in history like we're making history here to create a better tomorrow [Music] you [Music]
