hello everyone how's it going after the break let me just all right so i'll just begin with one key word that basically gets us all excited about daos and for me that's like daos are the social graphs and deep work studio is is doing a whole bunch of work in dow design and they've actually worked with you know a whole bunch of folks over the last year um what i'm representing today is actually deep skills that came out of uh deep work as a spin-off for dows we'll get to know deep skill some uh much better through the work that deep work has done and how that gave us all the learnings for the type of tooling that is needed and how we begin with product design for this particular space a bin a bit of those challenges that we you know face as both the dow organizing teams as well as the contributors that want to onboard on dials and start actively working so as we begin to dive in the most important piece is how we think of the uh you know the work that's going on around all of these projects and some of the experience that i'm going to share with you today uh pretty much comes from the deep work experience that the teams have built over time there's a bunch of case studies that you can see um you know we can share the links with you as well uh with all of the work that has happened with web3 ecosystems and the project that deepwork design teams have worked on um you know how do you actually design a a dow with the purpose mission and the overall elements built into it and then how do you make sure that the teams that actually want to join that purpose in that mission uh can get the elements of onboarding in the rails slightly in order to then be able to work through their mission directly uh one of the areas that we'll get into is is how a certain amount of tooling is coming in into the space but most importantly if you look at from a product design standpoint a basic element that is important to get right is to ensure that you have alignment around your vision purpose there's a bunch of exercises that you do as a designer in in the space but the most important pieces three of them that i highlight here is making sure that you have your priorities right you know there is multiple challenges multiple problems that you wouldn't solve around a particular purpose and a particular mission but how are you able to meet with the teams that are coming together for that mission and make sure that your user journey is sketched right and not only that that people have actually prioritized which part of the journey makes sense to actually go for and solve and then the final thing will be as you get into both the product the user journey and the technical feasibility of it are you able to see some of these prototypes coming together in a short frame of time and then as you start seeing things and you're touching feeling things you actually start knowing that okay this is something that i can actually relate to and that's why your wireframes and your prototypes come in picture um so there's a element of making a cons like a constant effort uh going through the you know translation between your purpose mission vision and then translating back into all of these prototypes that you see be it from design or like ux or even sometimes you know basically writing code and proving some things uh one of the things we are doing in this hackathon is proving that we can develop a sort of connectors to all of the back ends from which you can derive reputation and skills for each contributor in a particular tao and i can go deep into that offline as well after the talk if you want to know more about what connectors we are specifically working with so this one is a very key element think about a whole bunch of things coming together in a dao's mission when you design that you're looking at a problems in all the spaces and you're looking at and this one is an example specifically with how you have various team members coming together around certain aspects of a uh of a dao's contribution so i have a i have a need to work on projects i might actually want to have uh you know certain skills developed as part of my dow contribution i might start as a apprentice or i might start as a trainee i might start as a expert but over time in my journey i would like to go from contributor to an expert journey right so in this in this case you're linking up a contributor's journey to an expert and maybe even a mentor journey so how do you make sure that around all the behaviors that people are interested in both bringing into the dao as well as experiencing and and building up in the dao what were the the most delightful experiences that you can build towards and that's really the the hard part right as you design this experience as a community leader as a dow team how do you basically go about doing that and there a lot of a lot of these are basically experiencing and observing people's behavior as they come together in calls in in in person uh both in meat space as well as in meta words and then you start looking at okay these are the activities that let you go more towards the experiences that you optimize for and that's really where you see this beautiful line you know automatically getting together from different zigzag ways that you tried and you're looking at okay i actually designed certain constraints around the emergent behaviors so as to get my team my community towards the behaviors that are the most optimal and again at the end of the day you're looking at how do you also make money out of that or maybe how do you actually add value using the the purpose and the mission out of that so an example of that is when deep work worked with the e2 launch pad again following the same principles they were able to basically align teams on from different uh areas that they want to contribute to or different areas that they they thought that this tao is about to areas that had all those constraints in the in the right way and finally got that particular element aligned within the teams i was speaking with somebody earlier today and one of the things that keeps coming back again is at the end of the day this ends up becoming more and more of taking skills taking ambitions taking purpose mission and and certain values and then so you know slowly building that social graph where each and every one in the dao in the team actually aligns very well to this particular constrainted graph it doesn't feel like a constraint but it does have to be orchestrated in a certain way the element that brings in skills into this now and i'm slowly going into the deep skills element of this is as we were doing deep work you know design with multiple different organizations contributor let outs or special missions you know that were doing projects what we found is that you can actually now bring it back to certain traditional organizations or compare that with online communities where people actually get together and they hang out and then you know after some time they discover that hey we have certain common interests let's create a space a channel to hang out on and actually go deep into that so how do you get that efficiency in these online communities what is lacking in those zigzag movements where you can actually sometimes also orchestrate uh a common purpose and then start looking at you know building some of these together so the first element that i talked about was daos you know do get into the social graph element of this but the second element that's coming now is taos also come across as usable products like you are actually looking at uh product market fit in a certain type of uh scenarios you can actually say dow market fit right do i have these teams that have come together to create a product or an offering that has value and then in certain time you can actually get all the traditional inefficiencies uh moved out of that and the focus of the dow team is just basically coordinate collaborate and and produce value so that's really where the elements of you know the fact that hr teams and uh and you know private consultants and communities come together and you're like hey i am i'm actually looking at a lot of the long-term commitments but i'm not even sure right now if this tao is the dao right as a contributor on the dow side there's a lot of people coming into the discords and the channels and and hanging out but they aren't sure that this is really the efficient way to get onboarded so how do you make sure that you have all of those things coming together again the whole thing is is there meaningful delightful activity that i can participate in that's the question you're asking all the time right as a contributor you're looking for that delightful activity as a as an individual who's part of the dao you're also looking at can you continue to be in the same space over a longer period of time and one example i'll give you from traditional logs is over time an individual's ambition learning and curiosity elements evolve meaning that you want to actually evolve the organization with this change rather than evolve the individual with the only constraints that the org has put around right so if i feel constrainted as an individual in a con in a community that hey i want to learn certain things but i don't find any particular ways to to change my org my team around that how do i do that so these are some of the elements where you'll see onboarding documentation um the element of you know certain resources that have come through um adding value to those dows and then at the element of uh the collaboration that we talked about earlier a very important thing to to to realize through these communities is how do i take experts and contributors in in different uh collaborative communities dao specifically how do i actually take that journey of contributors and make them as experts as well right so again mentor mentee or experts com you know contributors and folks who are really really looking at uh on boarding themselves adding value into a into a dow specific thing again a lot of automation exists in this uh we are focusing at specifically around deep work we are focusing on making sure that with people's skills and contributions we can kind of like bubble up that data up to you as the as the sole contributor and then you are able to see that as hey i didn't even notice that you know my past projects were specifically around these skills my past community engagements were specifically around these new elements and who knows i'm actually a designer i'm starting with a project and i did a bunch of ux work or maybe did a bunch of front-end work and i'm getting better and better in that so let me take a deep dive into that so you start seeing some of these things now through discord elements of po apps elements of what you're seeing in github um and then you know slowly start looking at connectors that basically bubble up some of that data both for you as an individual but also for you for your data so this is an important element that we stand up in and then obviously as you start getting dow to dao this becomes a lot more interesting because now you can collect all of that uh visual data from multiple uh projects multiple dials across across your work stream and this isn't just about design remember this is a lot more expansions around different skill sets that are now becoming on chain as well and some of that is just a time stamp you know element of certain visualizations that you can pull up and show a large journey to an individual on their contributions into dao so again just you know hit me up offline as well if you want to know more about deep skills we are basically building some of these connectors that eventually becomes the deep skills protocol hope is that we also start seeing more and more apps coming up for individuals and for dows to discover skills discover talent and then at the same time for the individuals to be able to onboard themselves into a dao much more efficiently
