[Music] hello hello hello uh Lauren here again hoping I'm not boring you or anything but I think Super relevant right now in the ethereum community is how to on board the next wave how do we get those next billion users as everybody always says um here to talk about this today we have jho from Sky Mavis axi affinity and the Ronin Network super excited to have him here today good friend of mine just recently launched Ronin so let's give a round of applause for Gio all right good morning Denver yeah it's my second or third time being here but my first time here on the main stage and yeah couldn't be more excited to be with you guys today all right let's talk about the elephant in the room today how do we actually onboard real people to ethereum we have some experience with this we'll share some learnings and we'll actually puncture some myths about what's actually happening in on the evm so there's been a toxic myth spreading recently that everyday people don't use ethereum and this is dangerous this is actually causing people to incorrectly believe that salana is winning but this is only true if you don't know where to look let's take a look at Ronan Ronan is a gaming focused evm chain many of you guys probably know about it from the axi Heyday back in 2021 Ronin was initially built out to scale axi infinity and over time it's become a more generalized gaming chain so originally built for axi now King of the gaming chains and it was actually the most used evm chain of 2024 after ethereum I believe there's a there's a perception that oh retail isn't here this cycle people aren't actually being onboarded the only thing that people are using Is MeMe coins I'm here to dispel that myth if you actually zoom out web3 gaming specifically web3 gaming on Ronin is larger than it's ever been today there are 600,000 daily active addresses on the Ronin chain and if you look at this chart this chart is a movie right you can see that transactions and users have actually surpassed the levels from the axi boom of 2021 so if you follow along you can see that that Ronin launched in 2021 had a massive runup in traction due to axi and then we had a really rough brutal bare Market but the community never wavered and from the bear we've seen an explosion in activity so we have to give a shout out to a team that really started to catalyze this wave pixels what is pixels pixels is kind of like web 3 stardew Valley it's the second web 3 game to hit millions of users sent a shock wave through the space it proved that Ronin could evolve and become about way more than axi an interesting thing is that the pixels team actually reached out to us and wanted to work with Ronin why because we actually had experience building a web 3 game we had the experience from Maxi about how to actually scale a web 3 game to millions of users manage and incentives right these are all invaluable lessons that we're able to share with the games that are deploying on Ronin another thing that has just been uncovered by Peter from 1kx is that ronan's retention metrics are actually insane ronan's D30 retention is actually 17.5 X higher than salana why well this makes sense right if you lose money on Meme coins you get wrecked on Meme coins right 90% of people who are using pump. fun or losing money you're going to leave after a couple of days a a week it's not something that's sticky or for the long term whereas with gaming you know I grew up playing World of Warcraft and I couldn't quit like it took me four years to quit because all of my friends were playing wow and that's what's happened with Ronin we've built this incredibly sticky Gaming Community originally through axi that's now been able to transition to playing other games on The Rona Network as well so these are some of the faces these are some of the real people and one thing that I want to mention is that so we're here in in Denver many of us are Americans and it might be hard to see where are the real people that are using ethereum right East Denver doesn't look any bigger than it's than it last year or two years ago might even be a little bit smaller where are the people that are using these applications our experience is that you can almost basically chart the places where crypto adoption actually happens where people are actually downloading Wallets transacting on chain playing games using defi the majority of the real people that are performing these actions are actually in places like Brazil Argentina the Philippines places where inflation is incredibly High governments are incredibly corrupt and web 3 actually offers a tangible benefit of course this also applies to incentives why well web 3 is a little bit like allegory of the cave it's very hard to articulate the ideals and get someone to decide to join in that's why we found that when you're able to get people their first crypto by using an application playing a game they're able to have that aha moment that magic moment that gets them to across the chasm incentives help someone experience something that cannot be described in Words which are the real benefits of ownership and property rights so after pixels we've had a great wave of Builders come on to the Ronin chain um and we have some amazing case studies of how we've helped them grow and reach their goals because this is ultimately is what we believe a chain should do support the builders that actually getting users and this is something that I believe the ethereum ecosystem as a whole needs to learn a bit more about so pixels went from 5,000 da to 1.3 million daily active users after migrating to Ronin forgotten runiverse had a 15x increase in unique testers when after migrating to Ronin Lumi Tera saw 120% increase in new players after migration Fable born saw testers in season 2 which was on Avalanche go from 103,000 to 150,000 after migrating to the Ronin Network so I was asked to speak here today about what ethereum perhaps maybe even the ethereum foundation the ethereum leadership right this could also be the E ethereum Community what can we learn from Ronin well I'm was honored to even be asked that question um but the way that I see it is that Builders especially now more than ever they need help with distribution the tech has been commodified the tech is good enough what Builders now need are golden cohorts of users and the chains that can specialize in this the evm side chains layer 2os layer 3es the chains that can specialize the on specialize in this for the ethereum ecosystem are going to be the winners so we've had really great uh commentary from some of the teams building on Ronin Maria says Maria from Fable born who actually used to work on RuneScape said that the Ronin team is the best of the best in this industry they've blown me away with their expertise and publisher support Derek from fishing frenzy simply stated that the Ronin effect equals 30,000 new players in 3 days developers want players Luke from pixels the second web three game to hit a million users said that that moving to Ronin was the Catalyst that drove a lot of the initial growth at pixels there is literally no other place in web 3 where you can get the same amount of exposure as a game so what do we do how do we help these Builders I don't believe it's anything special I think these are strategies that can easily be replicated by the leadership in the ethereum ecosystem whether that's the ethereum foundation or other organizations we have a website and we have a a wallet that features the top games and applications on our Network we have millions of emails that we use to help spread information and give a warm introduction for these projects to our community we're aggressively promoting and interacting with these projects on socials our Founders are act actually using the products playing the games we are a gaming chain built by Gamers I think that's part of what differentiates us and the fact that we're actually using these prod prods I think says a lot and does so much for the teams that we're supporting last a lot of these developers they want real advice from an ex from developers that actually have experiences building applications I think one of the problems with infrastructure right now in ethereum is that you have people who specialize in building infrastructure but they don't actually know too much about how to get users and how to build applications I think this is the interesting thing about what Ronin does and what other evm chains should be doing is we have insights from building axi how to actually onboard users and we give that advice and th that experience to the teams that we're working with recently we had a very important moment for the Ronin Network Ronin is officially open so Ronin existed for many years as a permissioned chain as a curated chain but recently we opened it up to all Builders and we've seen a sharp increase in the number of smart active contracts and active deployers on The Rona Network so yeah if you feel inspired if you're interested in building in on Ronin definitely feel free to contact me on telegram can scan this QR code to learn more about what we're doing how to get involved how to use Ronin Pro how to build on Ronin all the information is in that one link wiki.
