yeah I'm just going to talk about Berlin basically how we all got into this incredible room yeah so this is the Wi-Fi in case anyone cares I'm sure if you wall down so whatever I'll just go be quick but yeah welcome welcome this is a very surreal experience for us to actually be here and talking about a testament and a bunch of other projects that came from I think my favorite hackathon so where why and how did this all happen so a short time ago and in Berlin not very far away MP and Berlin's etherium community decided to create one of the most inclusive hackathons I've ever seen East Berlin at East Berlin we had incredible projects that were extremely inspired good batch or Lyoness wallet CDP liquidator Sputnik autonomous pinata overflow gameís narcs smart alert Estonian identity and sharding POC and you can read all about these at this tiny URL and then there was the girly testin or the girly Testament I'm still trying to pronounce it right and so what is a girly Testament you might ask yourself well I think we should just kind of take a step back and talk about testing its first really understand how we even got here from a testiment perspective not just I mean it's brilliant oh sorry it's not moving [Music] so first we had morning and with Morden the first issue that really came to light even though you know the blockchain became very massive and as test nets happened me to be disposable yeah there was always this idea that we would just restart the test net but then luckily there was an issue during the spirits dragon fork when issues related to e IP 161 created consensus issues at block 1 million eight hundred and eighty-five thousand accept me for and that basically created a problem between you guys and parity and you can read more about it at this tiny URL there's an incredible blog post by Martin Mac post went about about this you know a few carriers to read more so after morning we have Robson so the first real issues for Robson that were massive where was during February 24th 2017 when people took advantage of the lack of incentives so just to put things into perspective morning and Rob's did I into context Morden Rob Center both Frizzles work Testaments meaning they required proof of work and as such because of test nets there are no incentives for it so basically anyone can spam the network so with Rob's in February 24th 2017 [Music] these spans led to increased gas up to 9 million and over 9 billion at times this is obviously was a huge problem and if you're interested you can read about you can read this reddit post where Vitalik response to someone about this with an estimate that on the maintenance this would probably have cost eight trillion dollars and gas to achieve the same the same thing so I found that really interesting to read about and then we have Kovac which was a response to these malicious spans so covin was a joint project between parity parity technologies maker ether scan dgx a torres 10x or iyong to Mellon port and grid singular grid singularity and Navarre so they all proposed and you know we think about this as being a parity thing but really it was you know a good kind of effort and yeah a proof of authority Testament using authority ground so or after each consensus was proposed and then created on top of parity and really you know so a proof of authority test that uses a trusted set of validators to secure the network and so yeah I was implemented a parity aetherium these these this test net proves to later test these new features things like P Wasson so it really took you know the to test Nets on completely different paths and kind of make it so that they would probably never be across client test net and you can read more about the Kelvin proposal at this type of URL and so that there's going to be so so Rigby was first really proposed to the community during was VIP two to five on March 6 2017 and so that was kind of a response to aura being in parity theory to also get a proof of authority test net for for yes and this utilizes click which is a different view a consensus mechanism you can read more about it here at this tiny URL from the IP itself and then basically so so this basically was solidified kind of what we've known up until around the summer which was that there were different po8 test nets for different points and such when one of the test nets was down that would create huge issues for the community not that it happens too regularly but it is an issue and so yeah this was something that many people have talked about this wasn't something that people yet were afraid of talking about but yeah and her goal as a way to to solve that problem so it was sometime in August 2018 I was personally looking around I'm good however just playing around just trying to see what can we do in East Berlin and so I was interested in you 1910-11 and maybe seeing if we could kind of get a test net going to play around with kind of big Kasper and so I kind of was scrolling through and I see this guy that some of you might know is Alfred yeah referencing this issue within the 1910-11 so I click again and I see this and so I scroll through a bit and I see that he's referenced in that now I'm on the second repo and he's a reference this thing called clear it would be POS support in Imperial Syria and that got us really excited the next day we yes this is it so as you can see it's from May 2013 17 so nothing new and this is something that people have wanted for a while and if you kind of go down where anymore you'll see that yeah that was put on back there half there's no one really stepped up to do it so I went to the office the following day and we talked about it and yeah we were really excited I didn't really didn't really appreciate what it is we're taking on but yeah we we were really excited by the idea of doing it but we thought there's something we should talk to you it's probably Hufford since that's the only reason we even got here in the first place so we did and so yeah we decided to phone a friend and the conversation went basically like this yeah free we're thinking of working on a cross client Toa test met during these Berlin and his response was I would probably join them if you do and that was basically how it started and then we ended up being in the top ten finalists nessam you might know because we've had such a large team we were disqualified and everything so and yeah so we we at the time we attempted to implement or to guess it doesn't be right a bunch of go and yeah we probably shouldn't have done that we should then click into fairly aetherium and so when we kind of restarted this initiative we attempted to do exactly that with the community and that's what we've continued to do is trying to implement click into all of the clients out there this was really important so it's off three David Chris myself Dustin Greg Martin Jared Elizabeth Phil Priya Tim stew and new gun so these are the people that were really contributing regularly whence we kicked off the initiative and then we had our first contributors call and we really said to appreciate how much the community really wants to get involved in this and take part in leading the discussion people like eg from in Sierra Mariano sir maker there's so many incredible people getting interested by this idea and also wanting to contribute towards making this a reality so that was not only shopping but extremely inspiring for some reason in this picture there are two offers and this is what the network looked like really shortly after we started it doesn't look like this now as things are said all the time but as you can see we have parody yes and you can see who these incredible people are one of the first people to make girly accessible to people to kind of run their up notes well you see the people from the parody and just such incredible teams nether mind was really fast at doing this so yeah this was one of the most shocking things that I've ever experienced is you know we talked about the tragedy of the Commons but really you know there is so much people want to do there is so much that they can do that's just about penetrating a situation that empowers people to kind of take responsibility and own things and then make sure that those they come together because I really do believe that the only way good coming I really do believe that the only way to kind of get people to own things is by giving them with the sole respect to actually be able to accomplish these things and not think that yeah us alone can accomplish these things because we might have started this project but it took on a life of its own that we're still kind of a seam today where I can get to and so yeah these were all the people that I would say within two months of this becoming serious really started to contribute to making this people like POA integrating a block Explorer I mean before that someone had thrown up just something they found on github and it was broken everywhere and so then happy oh I stopped up that made it that made it so that we could see our transactions like I said dot node made it so anyone can run a note yeah Pantheon never mind the et Cie co-operative decided this would be something that they would be interested in and now we have the county test net so such incredible people really took responsibility and us as the community realized it's time for us to own things like a test net it's time for us to be kind of responsible for a little bit more than just yeah the things that we care about like getting tests a teeth from someone who is responsible for that because it is at the end of the day not just the test net but it is just a testament so there's no reason why we cannot be the ones to to own that responsibility so this is kind of yeah a little bit just in terms of how we structured things so we have received an HTC cooperative grade and the funds that are still there or in this multi-sig in which myself offer you an empty hold a key to so it's all there Ashley has recently put a bunch of the funds on good point and we're trying to use get coming as much as possible but yeah if you wanted to interrogate or join the conversation yeah we're always looking for people to Jordan fun and then yeah today would not have been possible without these incredible people so if we could just give them around so you empty offer your old house now Guto Elias gillard Michael Alex B Lily hi it's Tina Blanco Alison Chris age and Elizabeth yeah you all made it happen you were here super early today some of you hungover from above party yesterday so I really appreciate that and yeah we have an incredible lineup of speakers today kind of went over it earlier yeah it's gonna be a lot of fun so you can see that yeah basically we have a coffee break afterwards and then talks are happening in the early room and then at 12:42 talks are starting in the country so yeah check out any of these incredible talks I'm really excited personally yeah that's basically it I had a last slide but it just had another cat on it so I'm not even gonna bother
