I started working on I'm just for Greg by the way so I'm banking on this in 2016 and there were about six logos of things on this page and this is the latest iteration we've actually removed a lot of the real art stuff so today I'm going to talk a little bit about some of the things on here and also about some of my artists based in London who are working on this although I could talk all evening as many of you will probably know having seen me here before I cook all evening about other artists around the world who are working on blockchain and emulating so I guess for me what I'm going to point out from this map are two key components and where I'm seeing a lot of activity based around the world but within the art ecosystem at the moment the first is around this concept of title and provenance and also anticip provenance for those of you who don't know is the backstory of an artwork who's owned it where it came from where it's been exhibited who has solve it and it's really integral to the value of the artwork and also the value of the artist and its whole market and sort of infrastructure of the art world today we reliant on paper-based catalog resumes we're relying on paper-based documentation and all of these projects in the top left-hand corner are focused on using blockchain in the same way as we've talked about with rights management managing supply chains and but in the specific context of the art world and and I think that's gonna be a pretty cool area of development something that we're seeing interest from everybody from the sort of top auction houses the Saudis and the Christie's of the world all the way through to artists to themselves are beginning to think about how they manage their problem also speaking about how they manage that I had problems and and their intellectual property going forwards and then the second area that I'm really interested in is this intellectual property piece one of the things that artists have never been able to do is to monetize the intellectual property in the way that music artists have been able to do or should be able to do hypothetically when you sell a work as a people as an artist a piece of work for visual artists you never participate again in the value upside and yet if you're an artist and you sell that work for the first time and then you become going become an accountant the chances of that work ever increasing in value is very very small and so um there are some really awesome projects particularly Dada and might see this project here picks yours and a couple of others who are really focused on enabling artists to continue to participate in the upside of their value creation next time because we're here in London amazingly surrounded by these really cool pieces of Art Basel who's in the room and several others I wanted to just highlight to you a couple of other people who are based in London putting incredible work about born Els who is an artist based in London and has created the crypto search which is a really cool area you can contribute about $500 worth of Yves and every time you actually get one of these works that work enables you to be part of the profits of that artist studio going forward but if you want to redeem it you have to destroy the artwork and so really interesting concept about how we play on the value of art versus the underlying funds and others been exhibited all over the world but his familias projects are two of my favorites this is a book written by people who are further field here in London and for anybody if you're arty or know most of you are is well worth the read each chapter has a cryptocurrency you get effectively given an app which has cryptocurrency you can distribute that cryptocurrency across each chapter and it invests that cryptocurrency based on natural language processing about the contents of that chapter as well as having a sort of whole host of essays critical thinking pieces and philosophy about how blockchain is going to impact society by some incredible thinkers with very very different views Terry cook who is a base an artist they say he was created this really beautiful but very traditional watercolor pieces to complete the set of artists who are working here as well as the sort of pieces that you see around you and finally I'll mention codex which was a project that I co-founded back in 2017 codex was I'm still creating provenance for physical art works were partnered with several groups summer in London create physical tagging solutions for artworks and we use our very own to basically track the proper knowledge that enable the metadata of that artwork to be stored and going around assurance and how these things can be transacted as well and finally in light of the exciting dau stuff that's happening in Japan I'll make sure that I'm a trustee of the foundation for we use the profits on sets who are working with this stuff most well-known and probably when we solved the crypto Kitty last year for a lot of money but we are in the works that are really interesting and coming up with which allows artists to thank you very much [Music]
