it's too early for uh intelligent discussions hi everyone lost my phone um yeah morning and uh thanks for coming all the way uh e k amazing uh conference this year I think a lot bigger compared to year on year growth right and um we're thankful to be here and uh we for all those from abroad we welcome you to K Malaysia and hope you're having a great time uh my name is Ian I'm from leading labs and uh yeah uh we are web solution provider come uh incubator and uh we'll start off with some introductions for my panelist when they are ready um we start off with some introductions even though you guys just did a panel but uh let's just uh do a brief one through anyway um Mike oh I have a oh there you go yeah can start we can start off with Cheryl go ahead just a quick one introduction hi my name is Cheryl I'm head of AP pack of P Penguins um we are the um number one nftd and also the uh web 3 IP as well and Nicole hi guys okay hi guys I'm back again so my my name is Nicole and I'm the founder of asan magazine right so today I think we're discussing something pretty um well um I I guess it's pretty well defined within the space right where people are saying that why web tree and why IPS are very important for web tree uh and why IP should go onto the block chain in the first place right so I think the discussion Point here is that um with IPS getting on what is the benefit um uh uh being creating an IP on the blockchain versus just doing it web to right like uh for example uh let's take paji Penguins as for example right um tremendously successful right uh my my niece uh my my cousins they're using the JF as well all right so is there even a need to even be on the blockchain in the first place right so just using that as an example and we start off with that question first right and that goes both to both uh both Cheryl and Nicole we can start off with Cheryl first yeah so when everything started when everything started we found a little um Gap uh in between the creators and also the big organizations like Marvel or um even Disney so we found out that there are a lot of creators that do not get compensated well or even fly um so we felt like with the blockchain um technology we'll be able to to take care of that that aspect that we always like give it back to um community and also the artists so when every paj penguin toys here they have a little QR code here too so whenever everyone um scan the QR code it brings you to the paju world and it's just a a Gmail that you have to just put it in it's really cute so uh with that the blockchain technology like behind every toy that sell in the whole world the um the creators or the nft um owners will get XX amount of royalty so it compensate back to to the community right so that's uh so what you're talking about is um Revenue share uh utilizing the blockchain right okay um how about Nicole like um on your on from your perspective as a nftd collection like owner right um why why why the blockchain in the first place I think um you know when I when I think of a lot of things especially when I meet like web two people they would say that you know some things it's already going really well you don't need the blockchain and that keeps me wondering and thinking on every products every aspect do we actually need the blockchain and when I was in nft Paris um um I managed to speak to Nelly from Louis Vuitton and she was the head of innovation at Louis Vuitton and to me they are like a billion dollar brand they don't even need nfts to make money because people are already buying their anyway right so then when I when I spoke to her I said because she told me that she is Rec recruiting at that time and she is trying to find an Asia team because most of their portfolio although they are based in you know France most of their sales comes from Asia so they said that because Japan is pro crypto Bitcoin everything they are trying to build a team to see how they can have everything streamline in first more of the logistic point of view to have everything on the blockchain in terms of sourcing the material because she said everything is about sustainability especially with leather goods right and how can someone prove that this actually is from a sustainable Farm rather than them saying yes this is from not a sweat shop from Bangladesh but nobody can prove that so that's where that's where they are looking into the blockchain because once it's being noted there I don't know I don't really know the technical on how it's going to work but in terms of a user you can scan a QR code of or kind of put like a RFID on it and you can see this material comes from a sustainable Factory and not from kids in like bangladash right so that's one way to gain um you know customers loyalty and Trust because nowadays you Brands can't just come up and say this is a sustainable material dot you need to prove you need to show proof on how can you prove that and because back then how um supply chain works is that like let's say started from cotton cotton will sell to let's say Factory a factory B Factory C Factory D so Factory D would not know where actually the cotton comes from but with blockchain you'll be able to see the whole trace of line the IP address who logged it in and everything so that's one biggest problem that they're trying to solve secondly is they notice that they can't be targeting old money that has money to buy their products because you know kids are growing up and kids are facing like you know like my kids play Minecraft you know and that will be the Minecraft world I told I told my daughter I said one day what if you can buy something through Minecraft and she said that would be awesome so brands that would want to last forever they'll need to adapt and even for her I don't tell her what Bitcoin is there was one day she told me like Mommy you need to buy Bitcoin and I was like who told you that and she's like YouTube I'm like wow and that's when you know we are doing one thing right right so she still has kind of no idea what I do because all she knows is you know I'm just like a mom to her but going back I do I do see that you know although things are doing so well retail is doing well we don't need we I mean I mean we like we don't need nfts we don't need crypto we don't need rwa but you can see the trend is Shifting and people like our like our kids will grow up and be like huh you still go to the store to buy an iPhone so lame like I hope I can buy it in Minecraft and that's where technology comes in and with technology there is nfts for you to O your sun is coming up yeah so going back um I do think right now we like the world can go without it we can still live on without crypto without nfts but that is what the future needs and that is what our kids needs so that's why we're here building the foundation and look at this like cute paji penguin just now when I was showing up my my son was like he wants it so you can see that the younger kids this is what they are looking for yeah right so from sorry oh okay so right yeah so for from From sher's perspective I think it's more on the product side right and also um incentivization of uh creators uh and which is really very important right uh today um van go isn't get the the the kids of Van go isn't getting any royalty from today on day right uh and from uh from Nicole side I think you're talking a little bit more about the supply and demand um traceability uh and and that's important right the blockchain has to have some form of like utility um if not then why adopting in the first place right so uh I have been told that we have uh not much time so I will try to cut this short right um in terms of like nfts and digital ownerships we're both there's two nft based uh projects here right now uh monetizing the IP through web tree um how much how much more can you give back as an nft uh uh collection back to your um collectors or your holders uh how how do you foresee that um you can actually drive actual value back to each and every one of the holders uh Beyond above and beyond basically because we are talking about nfts right and we're talking about um at the end of the day we want to talk about value value as to go both ways correct yeah so for p Penguins we um about like two years or about a year back we found out that when we ever whenever we say about utility it kind of capped into um into the fall price as well we feel like oh if I can put XX number amount like how many toys can I sell um worldwide and if I you know buying one p Penguins is about 30 to 40,000 and if I only earn one or 2,000 it doesn't it doesn't make sense for for lot holders so which kind of pivot and we change it to like it's not about utilities it's about the perks so getting into nft committee for p Penguins you get a lot of perks in terms of like you get exclusive memberships um to a lot of events um you get the Partnerships and the people that comes into the nfts U for panguin is mostly Builders so with that Builders mindset that we always build things together this is the kind that the money can buy you can put XX amount of um money and dollar signs to it so we piver to like perks is bigger than utility uh apart from that of course uh we want to win together um Luca always always emphasize on we always have to give it back so even though we are doing L2 abstract chain we still have like maybe like 10 or 20% we still want to um give it back to the committee the royalties will give it back to the committee by far I've not seen much of the U nfts out there that would would really um after the nft meet how would they entice um more Community to be part of it so there other the ways Nicole well for for anent nft when we started the community wanted uh because that was three years ago the Dow Trend was there and they was like we need a dow so then we're like okay we're going to create a dow so then we have this called Community Le fund and right now we still have I think about uh probably 40,000 USD in that Dow so we have that and how that came about is from the transaction fee so 2.5% goes to that Dow so we have like 30 e or something like that or 20 plus Eve and then they were like okay we want to donate to the Ukraine war we want to do this we want to do that we want to buy a cool cat we want to buy like all these nfts and then we're like okay okay approve approve approve so I do realize that every time whenever you listen to the community sometimes there is a lot of voice and then that's where you you will be going around in like a in like a circle so that was the first utility that we did but right now the I mean the fund is still there and right now we are focusing on um expanding the Anan magazine and that's where we're working on a perks where all of our 5,000 holders can actually redeem uh the physical magazine we're still trying to F figure out how would Logistics work and all of that um but yeah so if you guys are interested you guys can stay tuned for um anian magazine yeah right so I I've been I've been we're getting chased off the stage so um actually there was a very one more question that I really want to ask can I just ask one more question right it's about limitations of uh IP um IP rights right um because every holder technically speaking uh today I buy an nft I hold it it it belongs to me correct uh I should have unlimited and unwarranted usage of it now is this particularly true um in the web free space and at the same time is it even enforcable if some someone else takes it today we can see that let's say a Naruto figure right um people are just going to take the take it and and print t-shirts and sell it right and you can't stop them right is there any way you feel that on the blockchain is there any way to kind of like limit that well for py penguin we still trying to figure that out the balance of the decentralization and also the centralized um as far as I we would love to support each and uh nft P Penguins holders to do their own thing but we also want to protect them um make sure that IP infringement um case would not um affect like the main brand too and also the committee kind of Good Vibes um there are like some Clauses is like no porns um or no um alcohol that you know associated with with py penguins but however we are still thinking like what is the balance we still want the creativity part we still want people to innovate and push the boundaries but where are the boundaries and how can you keep protected so blockchain of course it helps in a certain way but I don't think it's like 100% we still need the centralized um governance to and transparency to to protect our holders and the brand I agree like you see MBA for me I would say that I don't think true decentralization still works yet especially with IPS imagine if like the board let's say they have mbas right and if let's say I I want to use my ape and I want to do like weird stuff to it like maybe child po RN right then is can I do that although they said that you own full rights to it so technically you can't so if if if if I don't I mean if I can't do that then true decentralization true decentralization doesn't exist yet because you know as as you said you know like IPS it would actually ruin the entire brand and then although that happened the founder can't come up and say that oh um you know but that is not part of our brand but because the image carries the brand legally you you still can take legal action against the damages for the reputation so I think that's like a really tricky question I I don't think any of the NFD projects has kind of figured that out yeah so I would say right now it's still centralized right now we'll need to wait for the next right the the next wave of nfts right all right thank you very much um thanks for being here and then uh give a warm Round of Applause for the panelist let's take a photo let's take a photo one um maybe just look in the middle and then we will all look look kind of the same
