a couple of years has been both uh a place of excitement and building and Innovation uh and growth and it's also been a place of confusion and maybe like lack of proper funding and infighting and challenges not so dissimilar from any Community anywhere um the regen Community I think got incredibly excited about eth Denver's year of the regenerates but also because spor Dow has been busy making this amazing event happen and all of the produ production process and all the things there was a little bit of a disconnect and so um out of that disconnect the amazing thing is often times tension creates opportunity for creation so there's been this whole process say that people may or may not have been paying attention to of working to create a whole regen stage in the back where people have been giving talks from all over the place and we've been hustling together to create this concept of regen Commons which actually is a place an experiment around the exclosure of a set of Brands and licenses related to the term the sort of the term of art Regen and its use in the crypto space into a community governed Dow and uh these three gentlemen along with a bunch of other amazing humans have come together to help make that happen Spork Dow has made a commitment to chip in and invest and help seed we're making commitments to help invest in seed so I just wanted to take a moment to sort of announce that to the whole world and to let everybody just talk a little bit about what this means to you and and what you're excited about moving forward sure yeah I I think it was a it was definitely an interesting thing to see that there weren't enough regen talks in this thing and it's just magical to uh I mean and I understand why there was like you know 40 different people that were from the community picking picking talks on Merit but out of all that drama to see something like this magically evolve out of it is pretty [ __ ] cool so like uh hat off to you Gregory and everyone involved to like actually make this into something really really cool uh for me just trying to com commune around the word regen and and what does regen mean is is a challenge right I think it means something different to everybody and so even have uh someone stewarding the the regen brand is is uh it's important and you know it's sad because there's a lot of drama around trademarking and you know it's it doesn't Always Feel clean but in the end especially in crypto like we had to get the trademark on giveth so we can take down scammers and you know it's uh it's just the reality of the world we are in so to have that uh actually managed by a community I think is really the way to go the thing I'd want to add is I think it's really cool that uh this this kind of the conversation started like a week ago or at least it bubbled up about a week ago and the E Denver content and program have been working on on building out this schedule for months and then we were able to put this together and now here we are on stage talking about it we we've come to like a resolution that quickly it's it's kind of exciting yeah elanar ostram uh talks about eight principles for managing the commons and one of the principles is drawing clear boundaries around them and and you know I think that one of the things that's really exciting about this is the mimetic shelling point of regen we can now draw a boundary around and uh sort of like that we can have a shared group that's in charge of defining clear boundaries for people to know if they regen or not and um I just want to say that Gregory you're uh you're the OG regen in web 3 for me and when I wrote green pill and started doing my regen stuff you know I I relied on your thoughts about eight forms of capital and everything that you're doing and and you and I have I think like circled each other for a while and never gotten a chance to like be in a Dal together so I'm excited to support you in this new Journey that you're on and I'm amazed at how it all came together I think that your vision of a tribe of tribes you know getcoin giveth uh uh regen network uh sporal vow regen unite you know all of these these different tribes having a place that we can gather and and sort of build the movement together that will become a shelling point a gathering point for for the larger movement and so I'm excited to support you uh like it starts with the enforcement in the Commons thing but I think it actually becomes like a social shelling point after that and that becomes really cool yeah thank you well and and what's really exciting to me is you know um the the the agility and support that spor Dow has has shown to sort of like help you know basically oh well you are invited actually so let's like let build and so the the shift from kind of like a zero sum game feeling to a win-win feeling is really exciting and I'm super grateful that spor Dow is committed to to sort of make an initial initial endowment of $20,000 into the into the Dow which is super exciting and what that's going to be used to do isn't to answer the question around what is fair use around regen or anything like that it's to set up a process and have a really talented uh Dow Whisperer Steward to help us create a a vehicle that all of these different disparate groups that do have different definitions have faith and trust in and get excited to participate in so that seed then allows us to come back and we also have a commitment from spor Dow that if we build a vehicle that actually can basically create a new Commons a new copy Fair approach to IP and Licensing and we can create a we can show that there's going to be a virtuous flywheel and business approach we get to pitch Spork out we get to pitch buff aorn Ventures for the remaining for a remaining $300,000 and then we could be off and running right so we could actually create a pretty significant heart shelling point for for all of these different regen Clans to have a commonality and a Commons and I think this is really important there's been already there's been people who are starting to debate about you know what does regen mean and who should be able to own it and like the interesting thing is is that's actually the point the point is there shouldn't be in in something that's this important there shouldn't really be a single private entity that can necessarily enforce on somebody else we actually want to take time to say what is fair use are there moments that we don't want this used in our industry what are they are there moments that we want it to be free and open so it's a really interesting process I think and my hope is that it actually does create a deep Synergy between between a group of actors who up until now have been friends and who have been sort of like hey you're doing really cool things what's going on but we haven't quite found the winwin you know out cooperate the competition moment and and I'm hoping that this is that that's what's taking place great uh Gregory Gregory I'm uh I guess I'm curious if we could get really mechanical about what the the terms of this deal are cuz I thought you said that there was a 300K verbal commitment and um 200k or 20K just doesn't seem like it's enough to do all the legal work and all of the free labor that will come along with this and I also like what does it mean to have the opportunity to pitch buff ofor Ventures why would they want to invest in a regen Commons Dow aren't they a VC don't they have to make a 10 or 100x this this new thing about it only being a 20K commitment is new to me in this exact moment yeah well I think I'm what what I what I've heard and sort of done handshakes around is 20K plus 300K once we get a set of attributes done but those attributes are sort of like having a a solidly operational Dow that does have its [ __ ] together when it comes to IP and Licensing so so the the the key that we're going to have to work out is together what are those specific attributes that we need to get done to 200k that feels like the rest of the 300K can come in and to me that that actually feels you know you're right it's not really a pitch so it's a 300K commitment contingent on the formation of this Dow under something that we call legitimate but we haven't defined legitimate yet yeah we have to we have and and will buffal gor Ventures own upside in this is this a like something where they're expecting 10 or 100x upside or is this more of like a charitable thing that's coming out of the operational funds from eth Denver which I've heard has done several million dollars in the year of the Regeneration it's like where is that money coming from you'd have to ask Joshua I I think it's TBD what I've heard from Justin and and John and and others in in conversation is that that's really something that they need to sort out after the event ends and the accounting can take place but that we have sort of the the intention the the commitment but what we have to do the thing that we have to do is really say what are the thresholds or criteria that creates the trust and faith that this makes sense as an investment I personally don't think it should probably be structured as like oh there's going to be a bunch of value extraction taking place but we do need to sort of work that out and again the purpose of the the initial Dow is really strictly focused on hiring the human who's going to help create the structure in the process but we need to go through a process and make sure that we have the three criteria that equals success I would I would love to answer that question can we have like can we have like five more minutes no we we just ran out of time he's goingon to cut us off so we'll have to continue the conversation later I it's the year the regenerat we should do five more minutes the buff corn Ventures doesn't necessarily need to do a 10 or 100x the the whole point of it being a community-owned venture is that we can kind of Drive the decision- making ourselves I mean you're Spork will you can help drive those decisions I I voted for John Ruth in the spork Dale election by the way I encourage them to run John's a good choice uh you should submit your votes before uh 10 tomorrow um we're going to get cut off the live stream so I've got to wrap this up I need okay uh thank you guys
