11. Public Goods Hackathon Winners Announced - Berlin 2023

[Music] I'm ore from Falin green and I was helping the funding the commons team arranged the first public goods funding hackathon and this hackathon was organized to produce new public goods funding infrastructure for web 3 and integrate existing public goods funding infrastructure I don't y nope okay great and so this hackathon was sort of in the ecosystem of the funding the commons as often people come to the conferences like great conversations and then nothing really happens until the next funing the commons hack um conference so we wanted to have this hackathon so people could work virtually anywhere in the world to really come together and think about what sort of public um funding mechanisms that they could um produce so during this hackathon we had um some amazing metrics Brave was our marketing partner and we had two Global ad takeovers that um people were able to see um at the beginning of the hackathon and almost at the end we had over 100k sponsorships 100k from sponsors and we had over 400 participants some of the bounties we had over 15 included best public goods funding projects with gitcoin brave an interface for using Brave to support public goods fcoin green best integration between CO2 storage and hypers certs and octane which was focused on Crafting and Innovative tool or interface focused on tracking and analyzing the activities and metrics of auction public data um so we actually have one of our participants here from the hackathon D vinch and he will um come and speak briefly about his project hi everyone thanks for inviting me on stage um it was a really unique experience taking part in this hackathon it was like a period of two weeks and I got to work with a world-class designer in like Portugal a smart contract developer in Cambodia and the best part was it didn't even involve money we just said that hey let's build something cool and if you win prizes we'll just share it amongst ourselves so it there actually it like opened my eyes to a whole new way of working and we managed to build a great Prototype at the end of it one of it was like hypers Sears is often used for environmental use cases like carbon credits but we like like what like what would happen if we used it for journalism so we managed to get an impact database of like 10,000 impact stories from three media outlets in India and we created code which converts these impact database into hypers SE so it could be super useful for any nonprofit which has meticulously recorded data to actually bring their data on chain and the second thing we created was actually a front end for customers to come and buy these impact certificates so it's kind of like gift cards like what we like what we built like how you can give a gift card to someone congratulating them for a baby shower or for like a marriage so we created a way where they can donate money towards an impact which which is already achieved and then that kind of their friends can donate and comment underneath it so we created the full front end for it so I'm really thankful to this hackathon for bringing together such an amazing team we actually built something useful at the end of it and it really just opened my eyes to a whole new way of working thank you so much and then we're going to highlight one other project that actually could not be here hi there here today I'm going to talk about old green grants which is automating Grant system for greens so this is the description of old green grants old green Grant is an Innovative grants platform designed to automate the process of Distributing pays to P participants and also purchasing carbon credit while providing attestation to participants so this is how it works so basically we are using allow protocol to create a grand platform and we are using CO2 storage as carbon CR data storage and we are using Hy to create attestation to contributor of the carbon offset and we are using drip as payment distribution process and also using basic attention tokens or payments token okay so this is the old green grants front end so start from creating grants as sponsors so this is the create Grant process and we have enabling 10% carbon offset checkbox so if sponsor enable this option uh in the end uh this gr system is providing carbon off offset let's try the demonstration now uh switch to participants and the participants can create team and apply for the grants and we can check this 10% carbon offset is enabled for this grants so let's make the transaction so okay so this is the final part so sponsors can review the submission here and let's review the submission so this is the reference ID and then sponsor can approve the submission so this approving uh triggers a multiple transaction here so first one is distribution so this distribution is a kind of transaction which is payout on all protocols and then the next transaction is a purchasing carbon offset on the smart contract so this is the parching transaction and we have server side process to verify the carbon offset purchasing transaction and then when the carbon offset transaction confirmed we create the CO2 storage asset on the CO2 storage and then we create hypers with the CO2 storage asset ID so let's make the transaction and let's check the transaction detail here too okay so yeah this is the new grants payout and we have the hypers here and also we have the asset ID on the hyperset and this CO2 storage asset has the connection for the other protocols pool and also having the connection to carbon credit purchasing transaction so let's check the asset here yeah so this is the carbon credit for all protocols and this is the payment transaction and also we have the P ID here which means by referring this hypers set user can check how the participants contribute the carbon credit using the smart contract so this is the basic concept of old green grants so I'm just going to run through the list of winners um really quickly for the fal coin green okay uh best integration between CO2 storage and hypers certs for impact certification certify Hub and auto green grants uh one are those prizes uh for best use of data tag with Providence information for an impact evaluator it was Footprints and then best use of co2. storage was Ina Zuma and CO2 boss fights for brave there were three winners it was bat share um quadratic attention payments and autog green grants again and then for getcoin which was the best novel grants app prototype Auto green grants and Octon was Data nudge
