EVM x Sui | Alvaro Lillo

ETHGlobalSun, Aug 9, 2026, 12:00 AM

In this short workshop at ETHGlobal Lisbon 2026, Alvaro Lillo, a solutions engineer on Sui's builder growth team, alongside his colleague Guilherme, shares a series of resources to help hackers build over the weekend. He starts with the prizes: three in total, one on the continuity track and two on the new project track, all judged primarily on product-market fit, meaning whether the project has any real chance of becoming an actual product. Builders can either integrate part of the Sui stack into an existing Solidity app (with Walrus as the low-hanging fruit) or build a project from scratch, and porting an existing Solidity project over to Sui is equally welcome. Alvaro walks through the prepared resources, all accessible via QR codes. There are code snippets covering common dApp patterns and use cases shown side by side in Solidity and in Move on Sui, plus examples of using Walrus on EVM as a decentralized storage replacement for IPFS that works alongside Solidity or any other stack. For anyone coding with AI, he recommends a Claude Code plugin he built as the best way to make Anthropic's model proficient on Sui, since model training tends to be stale on a niche language like Move. He closes by announcing Hashi, a decentralized primitive newly launched on testnet that week that lets you use your BTC as collateral on Sui, pointing to the official testnet site and an explainer with code, and notes a last-minute issue with the booth QR code while directing hackers to the working links and the ETHGlobal Discord for support. 00:00 Introduction 00:11 Welcome to Lisbon 00:16 Meet Alvaro and Guilherme 00:44 The Three Prizes 00:54 Why Product-Market Fit Is the Focus 01:21 Integrate the Stack or Build From Scratch 01:41 The Prepared Resources and Snippets 02:04 Solidity vs Move Patterns 02:29 Using Walrus on EVM 02:53 Building on Sui With AI 03:00 The Claude Code Plugin for Move 03:26 Announcing Hashi: BTC as Collateral 03:56 The Testnet Site and Explainer 04:18 Where to Find the Links 04:53 Closing _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ 🇵🇹 *ETHGlobal Lisbon 2026* This workshop is specifically for ETHGlobal Lisbon 2026, a 3-day hackathon held July 24-26 at the Carlos Lopes Pavillion, bringing together the most skilled web3 developers, designers and product builders from all around the globe for a weekend-long adventure to advance the Ethereum ecosystem! Hello everyone. Good evening. Welcome to Lisbon. Today we will share with you a number of resources that we hope will help you with your work this weekend. Good?

First of all, allow us to introduce ourselves. I'm Alvaro, and this is my colleague Guilherme. We are both solution engineers on the developer development team developer development team . Good? You can find us this weekend at our stand.

You can come and ask any questions. Good? We are both technical specialists technical specialists , so we hope we can answer your questions or direct you to the right person. Let's start with the most important thing for everyone here, shall we? Prizes.

We will be giving away three prizes. Good? One in the continuity track continuity track , two in the new projects track. The main thing we will focus on and evaluate is product-market fit, okay ? For us, the most important thing is whether your idea, your project, has real market relevance.

So, I repeat: if it has a chance to become a real product, that will be the most important thing for us. You can integrate part of our stack with your existing Solidity existing Solidity application. The easiest option for this would be, for example, Walrus, or you can create a project from scratch. I don't care which of these two tracks you choose. If you want to port your existing Solidity project to Sui, please, we're all for it, okay?

Again, the main emphasis and evaluation criterion evaluation criterion is the product's market relevance. Resources we have prepared for you. Here you will find a series of code snippets, okay? These are mostly patterns and common cases you will encounter; you 'll see how it's done on Solidity and how it can be implemented on Sui using Move, okay? Everything we're sharing now has a QR sharing now has a QR code, so you can scan it and check it out later at home, okay?

There are also code snippets on how to use Walrus in EVM, okay? You'll find many examples of integrating Walrus with any application on Sui or code on Move, but you can also use it as a replacement for IPFS, let's say, right? And you can use this with any other tool or platform. Here you will find some examples of how to do this using Solidity. I guess most of you will use artificial intelligence for programming, I hope so, right?

So, this is what I recommend for Sui development, for any part of our stack, okay? This is a plugin for cloud code that I developed, and in my opinion , it's the best way to get the cloud and the Entropic model to work properly with your Sui code, okay Sui code, okay ? This is quite important because, you know, the training is a bit outdated for niche languages like Move. So, this is the best way to make sure your coding agent will be proficient in working with our stack. Last but not least, we are very excited to announce that a new product was launched on the testnet this week .

Of course? This is Hashi. Hashi is a decentralized primitive on Sui that allows you to use your BTC as collateral. Of course? This is something that will attract a lot of attention, so I recommend you guys take a look at it.

There you can find the official Hashi website on the testnet, okay? And there's also a little explanation that we created so you can check out how Hashi works with the code, okay? So that you really understand how to manage it. That's all, actually. You can find all these links here.

A little warning: we had a last-minute problem, so the QR code you'll find on our stand isn't working yet. Hopefully we can fix this over the weekend, but if not—here's the option, okay? There are all the links I shared, links to our Discord, etc. Of course? You will find people in the find people in the ETHGlobal Hackathon Discord channel who will help you if you have any questions.

Of course, feel free to contact us at any time us at any time . That's all I have. I hope you have questions that we would be happy to answer.
