[Music] Hey everyone, thanks for coming. Hello fellow hackers. So nice to see you all here. So let's jump in right to the Blog Scout workshop. So I hope everyone here already heard about or came to our booth and knows a bit about Blog Scout or hopefully used it already on one of the networks we support.
Right. In case you don't, Blog Scout is an open- source platform for EVM networks. It's an open source blockchain explorer API and stuff like that. So, for this workshop, we're just going to have a few updates on where we are with Blog Scout, what do we do, and just a few status updates on how things are going on the inside. Then, we're going to discuss the bounty for this hackathon.
We have we have 20k for grabs for different uh stuff you can use with log scout different stuff you can build and do and then we'll just go one by one through each of the bounties in a bit more details we'll talk about which APIs we provide and what you can use how you can use it we're going to talk about APIs HDK merits integration and stuff like that so let's jump right into so first of all the blog scout ecosystem is growing every week new chains are launching new explorers uh coming up and basically as we are the only feature full fully featured blockchain explorer for the EVM networks the only open source one pretty much everyone is using block scout in some points some of them are hosted by us some of them are hosted by rollup as a service providers some of them are hosted internally by the teams running the chains themselves and so basically we have more than 2,000 known instances of blog scout across the whole legacy system which includes different mainets and devets, test nets, different layer 1, layer 2, layer three, layer fours and stuff like that. Some of them are hosted by us about 200 including in so-called explorer as a service uh as a service service we provide. Then we have more than 60 different clients and a lot of the apps we are working with. So why people keep choosing block scout and why they all use it? Because as I said already, Block Scout is the only fully featured open source blockchain explorer.
It's compatible with all the major rollup families, layer 1 ones and layer twos and supports all the different customizations for the popular uh L2 stacks such as Optimism Zync and stuff like that. It has a lot of different configuration opportunities how you can customize it, apply different stylings, turn on and turn off different models depending on what's popular on your network, what people are using and you know on some networks people are more interested in account abstraction on some people are more interested in data availability solutions and stuff like that. So you each explorer can be tuned to a particular chain more closely and yeah we have a lot of different multi-purpose dev tooling which is friendly to the users to the developers and easy to integrate. So one of the recent uh additions to the blog scout ecosystem was the auto scout. Basically, it's an cloud like system that allows you anyone to open up an account and spin up their own instance of block scout for any network that doesn't have a block scout yet publicly one available that you can just use.
So, if you have some not well-known chain and you want to deploy a simple block scout instant for it to start immediately browsing the chain, you can do it via auto scout and if you need some free credits, please come to us. We'll find a solution for you. So this one is ideally used by different rollup as a service providers but can be also used by the end users. So you can just drop in the JSON RPC for the particular network and you'll get the simple customized block scout explorer for you hosted by us in a matter of like five minutes. So now let's talk about the bounty.
So this time we gone a little bit different. So previous times we only had the big price pool. Now we have like dedicated boundaries for a specific use case of block scout. So the first one the largest one is basically any use of the block scout API counts towards it and we'll just look through the best use of the block scout APIs the best integration of any APIs that we provide in your application. So you can use it either yourself in your tab or you can also let your AI agent use it.
Maybe write some AI integration with block scout. This also includes like stuff like um writing a proper LLM.txt file or configuring an MCPS server or writing a chat GPT like plug-in for blog scout and tailoring to the specific front end and stuff like that. That also comes to the first category. Then the second big bounty we have is related to the SDK integration.
So SDK is more like for front- end developers. Basically, we have like a couple features you can integrate on the front end level and use our front end SDK for that. So, basically, if you do that, you can also apply for the second bounty. Then the third one we have is related to the merits use case. Merits is a loyalty program of Blog Scout.
We'll talk about it in a few slides in a bit more details. And then basically if you don't qualify or win one of the first three bounties or you can just use block scout not enough to qualify for one of the first three bounties you immediately apply for the next bounty which is a full price share it among all the qualifying applications. So if you used block scout in any way, if you try to integrate APIs and got something, if you used and uh replaced all your links in your DAB that are linking to transaction and addresses to the Block Scout instead of other explorers, if you verified contracts or did anything with Block Scout, you qualify for this bounty and you'll get a small share of this price pool which will be divided among all qualifying participants. So now let's go through basically one of one uh of all the APIs we provide and what we have. So first for the main API which is powering our front end.
Basically it's a restful API. You can look it on look it up on any instance we have this swagger and the public documentation there. Basically anything you can find in our public user interface is powered by this API. And if you like some particular element and want to get a list of blocks or transactions or bite on a particular rollup or get some more details about particular transaction what transfers happened there what uh I don't know what balances user have at the specific address and stuff like that you can query all of it through this public uh restful API we can also provide you the with graphql API basically whatever fits your application better feel free to use this API format. Then one of the feature interesting features of REST API we have is the transaction interpretation.
Basically that works as a combination of u template based engine we designed with the some LLM driven analytics. So basically the way it works for you as a user is you provide us our API the transaction hash on a particular network. We query all the raw data that happened inside of this transaction like logs, addresses. We pull up different metadata, tags, ENS addresses and stuff like that from all the sources we can find. We can feed it all to the LLM and then LLM gives out you the our API gives out you the the template of basically which describes what happened in this transaction in a one simple human readable action like was it just some raw method was called or was it a burn of some tokens was it a swap through a particular deck or some more interesting stuff.
So this can be helpful for making sense of some complex transactions and actually displaying something the humans can understand for the transaction. Then we also have the RPC compatible API which you can find in other block explorers. So if you have some SDK or some already written code that works with specific RPC format of the API, you can use our API and basically get the same data in a bit more in a bit different format that's already supported in other explorers. And then we also have a JSON RPC compatible API which is useful for stuff like fallback JSON RPC providers on your front end especially on less known chains where there are not many public JSON RPC endpoints that are reliable and sometimes they can go down. So you can configure through popular front- end libraries like a list of fallback providers and just as a last resort as a fallback option include the log scout JSON RPC that also works and counts towards the API usage.
So now jumping right to the SDK. So basically SDK is a new initiative in Bloxcout. So it's still in beta. We just released it. Basically the idea here is we want to bring a few front- end components to the SDK library of block scout.
And right now you can find there the nice um transaction confirmation pop-ups which basically after you send any transaction throughout your do app with uh some token transfer with some swap some defy operation or stuff like that we will track the transaction status and display if there is any error if the transaction was successfully mined and stuff like that. Basically, this is the any generic component that any DAP needs, you can use it through the block scout SDK. And then we also have a similar component with a nice uh symbols and statuses and transaction interpretation just by the history of displaying the history of transactions on the specific network, which is basically also a UI component you can use throughout the block scout SDK. Then jumping right to the merits. So merits as I said is a loyalty program of block scout.
In other projects it's typically called points programs but we call it merits. So the way it works for our users is users sign up with their addresses through blog scout for this blog scout merits program. They earn merits simply by using Blog Scout by doing different tasks, participating in different activities, campaigns, participating with campaigns in with uh our partners. So we did some campaigns with the Melo Protocol, Cow Swap, Sonium and stuff like that. And basically here what we are asking you to do is we want to you become our partner in using this merits and distributing them.
So basically if you can find an interesting use case for showing or distributing this merits to your users for some actions within your DAB basically find this kind of connection point between your protocol DAB or whatever you're building between block scout and in exchange we can provide you so in this case for the hackathon just the test net based merits but after the hackathon we can probably agree on something more on distributing the production grade merits similar to how we did it with the Melo cow swap and Sonium. So, and in the end the purpose of this merit is users can redeem it for different partner perks or accumulate them for future rewards activities and stuff like that. And we have also an API for quering the balances of these merits, the leaderboard position and the API for you as a partner for distributing those merits to basically a list of addresses you provide us. So now a bit more technical stuff about the contract verification. So if you don't if your use case doesn't fit for example the API integration or SDK integration emerits integration also one of the simplest use cases how you can apply for the pull price is basically to use block scout in any way and one way to use blocks scout is to verify your dub contracts if you deploy anything onchain through the block scout interface.
So the way contract verification works is basically after you deploy some byte code, you compile your contract and deployed bite code, you can submit the same source code to the blockchain blockchain explorer and we will on the back end verify that the recompiled byte code matches the actual bite code you can find on chain. And if it does match, we display the green check mark and show all the metadata about your contract. And it help us helps us to decode transactions actions and interpret the transactions happening throughout your contract. So in many cases the contract can be automatically verified if the same source code was already deployed either on the same block scout instance but on different addresses. If the same contract can be found in uh verified smart contract providers like sourcify or we have our own provider which tracks uh verified contracts across different block scout instances called block scout by code DB or also we import all the verified source verified smart contracts through different partners by the by using the database provided by verifier alliance we we are proudly a part of and basically If you deploy any new contract which wasn't previously seen on any of the networks then you have to manually verify it through one of the following approaches.
So basically for small and simple contracts of Viper contracts the simplest way you can verify your contract is by going through the blocks code UI and just clicking a few buttons copy pasting your source code selecting the compiler settings you use for the compilation and basically in a minute you'll get your green check mark and the contract will be verified then for multifile contracts or some custom compilation pipelines the same can be also done directly through the block scout API so if you do some specific custom scripts for contract deployments. You can integrate the API there or more easier ways is to use third party import tools. If the contract is already verified in sourcify on some network network which we don't support, you can import it from there. And then we also have some integrations with the developer frameworks like foundry hardhead plugins for there. So you can easily verify through a couple CLA options uh the contracts by just going through the foundry by executing a couple foundry commands.
Then we also support different proxy patterns you can use. So proxy is a common uh pattern which people are using for upgradable contracts. And one of the recent additions here I want to highlight is that we also supported the EAP7702 which is a new account abstraction EIP for the Ethereum mainet that which came with Pectra uh this month and basically is now available on Ethereum mainet and the major rollups. It's also implemented in a proxy format within blocks scout. And if you're using this account obstruction feature, you can also appreciate this proxy features and uh yeah, basically test it out as well.
So yeah, that was pretty much it about the everyone of the use cases we have for this hackathon. So once again, use any API block scout to make your AI agent use one of these APIs to be eligible for the first bounty. You can integrate the SDK on the front end to be eligible for the second bounty or integrate the merits API and find a way to showcase user balances. use it within your own system for gaining some information about the user or find a way how to properly interestingly distribute merits to your users through the block scout API it will make you eligible for the first for the third use case you can also apply for all bounties at the same time and win multiple that's also possible and then in any case if you use blog scout in any way if you try to use API SDK or merits if you used blog scout links in your dabs or if you verify your contracts that automatically makes you eligible for the pool price and you'll get small but nice uh pool price share in the end. Yeah.
And most importantly, when you come to us at the end to showcase your project, please show how you use block scout and explain us during the demo like specifically what you used, how used, what worked, what didn't work, and stuff like that. So yeah, that's uh pretty much it. Happy hiking. [Applause] I think we have a few minutes for questions if uh there are any. Yeah.
Um talk about like um um kind of a rest API where we can just request some information from the blockchain. I was curious like do we need kind of to pay for have access to this or is it kind of free? Yeah to repeat the question. The question was about the rest API. Is it free to use or there is a process for paying for it for an API key?
So the answer is the API is free. You can use it without any API key to a certain extent to a certain like rate limit. Basically it's very like unlikely you will hit this right limits throughout the hackathon and throughout just simple testing and demonstration purposes. But if you do hit those, first of all, you can register for the free account on the specific log scout instance to get an API key with the increased rate limits. And if this doesn't work either, you can come to us and we'll find a custom solution basically give you a custom API key with even more rate limits.
Go ahead. Is there already something in place to use the merit point? So if somebody Yes. So the question was about the merits program. Is it already live?
Can you use it? And what can you do with merits? The the answer is yes. Three the merits were launched like half a year ago. So they are running production and we have like hundreds thousands accounts actually holding different balances and uh you know there is like a public leaderboard of people using this merits earning them referring different users to the merits program and they actually already redeemed for some useful stuff like different uh promo codes and discounts and stuff like that.
So throughout the hackathon we do not allow you to distribute this production merits. We give you access to the staging environment. But yeah, the system itself is already live for some time and it collected some information about the different users. So there is a lot to potentially work with. Where in the documentation was this for?
There is no faucet for the merits but uh you can request the merit specific API key to basically get this um ability to distribute certain amount to your users. So if you need those just come to our booth or to the discord channel and we'll provide you the necessary API key. The merits of chain points or is that the question was if the merits is an offchain point program or onchain? The answer is it's fully offchain at the moment. It's possible to kind of bridge it to onchain.
You can make it work to basically give something onchain in exchange for this offchain points or distribute them based on onchain activity. But the merits themselves like in our internal structures are offchain. All right. I think we don't have any more questions. Thank you guys for coming.
Good luck with your builds. Come visit us at the booth if you have any more questions or come to our Discord. Thanks a lot. [Music]
