From Thailand to the World: Coordinating for Public Goods | Funding the Commons

Funding the CommonsThu, Oct 9, 2025, 12:00 AM

In November 2024, we gathered in Bangkok for the eleventh Funding the Commons conference, uniting over 1,000 builders, funders, and researchers. Across four events, we delved into a variety of critical topics, from earth stewardship to decentralized identity solutions for displaced populations. Through collaboration, we explored practical ways to build stronger systems for the commons and a more sustainable future. Watch the highlights to see how these conversations are helping to drive real-world change. Learn more about Funding the Commons: https://www.fundingthecommons.io

if you're looking for difficult problems the world is full of them but the ability to actually tackle those problems meaningfully make some sort of contribution or change to propose alternatives to propose paths forward that's going to be as limited as the network that you have available to you and the resources and the [Music] tools you know if you make a circle and I'm not sure is it 2,000 kilometers but it's like 60% of the world population is around us here India China Japan Indonesia Philippines Bangladesh Pakistan it's all kind of like surrounding we really at the center of the new world we obviously here in Thailand right while it's nice and everyone's kind of flying in there's actually a lot of displaced communities also in Southeast Asia one of the most inspirational things for me is that we've actually through funding the commons like we have able to like also connect with certain organizations and or connect with some of our own ecosystem Partners uh to be able to support or provide or build solutions collaboratively for such displaced people not just like you know making a solution for them but actually working with the local organizations to build uh Solutions collaboratively and really think about well uh these are the different challenges how can I actually provide such service into country or into the community for me me that's the reason I kind of get out of [Music] bed I think for me is what I've walked away with you know in our industry sometimes we may just focus on the technology and not as much on the impact or the use case itself yeah this is something deeply needed in our community to really drive forward that thinking of regenerative ideas regenerative finance and also public goods fun that otherwise I think wouldn't have the right space to be discusted except for funding the comments [Music]
