Decentralized Social Revolution for Public Good | Suji Yan - Mask Network

[Music] hello everyone it's my uh fourth year to East Denver and still so glad to be here and today I'm going to talk about dentu social Revolution for public good and uh my name suji founder of maass network seeing my um 10year Venture in West r i jump in crypto around 2016 um and become full-time in this this area and you know start to realize there's no one doing a lot of public good and there's still a lot of things missing and I went fulltime build a mass network raising money listed in everywhere and eventually start Venture fund to help the younger you know like even younger generation Founders but what's what's going on with the the large the cyers space what's going on with you know the internet how's the current stage if this is Revolution how's the current stage of Revolution what's the next step of Revolution I think that's a question not a few people talk about and today I like to share U my my S and our experiment so far so uh little background about what I've done um outside of crypto um I did something called like anti 96 movement back in the days on GitHub uh we create many license uh the n96 license and we use GitHub as a way to do activism or activism that eventually blow up uh become the top 10 still the top 10 um GitHub ripo uh I got a lot of like sofware air job for this um pretty cool and that's a revolution you know you use the cyers space as a Battleground and that's a revolution and when I when I did that back in in my in my like you know uh first year in crypto I was like recording something I read as a teenager that's very few people still code this in in the industry right now that's the 1996 Declaration of Independence of cyber space by the EF founder John Peter Baron he say that the governments of the industrialized world you very Giants of Flesh and still I come from cyberspace the new home of mind and he also said you have no sovereignty Where We Gather so that's that is a masterpiece written by him from 1996 I didn't see a lot of people Cote this nowadays but that's like the the the the enlightenment one when I was a kid and that reason pushed me jump into the crypto or west3 or you know whatever cyber space Revolution um basically we kind of agree uh I think a lot of OG and core people in the industry agree that we are head into something called of like n was state it doesn't matter something like you know independent power uh superseding the nation states and and there's some some some you know takeaways from his declaration even like 30 years ago there's some goals we are M for right the the independence the decoration there's a battle we uh in the middle of we call it a great Civil War uh the battle about not only privacy the battle about uh decentralization the battle about like uh more nose running ethereum the battle about a fewer uh company fewer Nations State can jooy it um and there's Ro models right valal is one of the role model and there's other CER punks right um ad Snowden Aron SCH and even more and there's there's people sacrificed from it right um there's missions um but in reality we are in a very interesting stage I say like we're in the stage of like the the East India the East cyers space company stage so the East India Company you guys all read from the history book right what is that uh it's a colonized company uh a lot of European power have the colonized company name as East Indian company back in the days and the most powerful one is the UK one it's the British Empire one right and they colonized the the India some part of the China and the North America and many other places of the world um they gather and they explore the local people right and the same thing happen for the cyber space the cyber space seems have no um Native citizen here but actually there's lot you know like the the people who who grow up with the computer people who grew up with crypto people who grew up with your your phone they're the cyberian they're the first generation cyberp n native Cien um they got they got exploded a lot by by these East India Company East cyers space company I say like tensent is the tensent is the Chinese version of East Indian company um and Facebook is the American version of the East cyers space company there just here um so we at this stage just forget about the small crypto bubble we at this stage of the of the larger internet um and and there's some plan to the Future right and we know uh there's different calling like you know start your community start currency start a country uh shout out to bage and these ideas very cool uh but what is the plan so on the other side seems AI is being the password right AI is you know taking taking off um beside of the out of the crypto bubble everyone love AI um and and the question will be my question will be are we going to give AI human rights uh if we going to give AI human rights one day they going to have to have bank accounts right and what is the bank accounts for AI it going to be uh crypto address are we going to give them you know free of Free of speech because AI don't have free of speech right now on the on the web two social media they get banned right um are they going to get free of speech in the crypto social media because eventually they're going to own your their address they're going to own their account they can post whatever they want right and and so if that is the direction are we going to partner with these guys or partner with these you know AIS finding their human rights and eventually claim the citizenship of the cyan I think that's going to be a very interesting topic um so the current state age right now uh I'm going to go through a little bit from my OG memory so when I joined industry that's around 2015 2016 there are little few Ico out there um there are some successful ones uh from that Age Maker Dow uh other OGD projects so that's kind of like um fix the problem of financing right and and listing and and trading you need to have something for your daily meals so that's the time that we have the icos back in the days and then we have some kind of like citizenship for the cyber space you're going to have an address once you open People start to open umm address not the CX address you're going to have some citizenship you're going to have an address L like your that's like your national ID or your passport number no one know what's going on no one know what the number means but you have to remember that if you lost your password you have to remember that number this is same thing for the ethereum you're going to you going remember your private key and remember the the numbers and the the the the the characters for your address you have some kind of like citizenships even just for Banking and then we have ens we have some dids we can have like naming systems you can just choose your names right and other people cannot take your names away um and we gradually have more decentralized Finance system uh we can trade without a middleman uh in the early days there's still middleman in even in crypto space um and we can have like crypto Legos Finance Legos that's what happened in the next cycle in the previous cycle 2021 people start to have def Legos um connect to each others but this is not enough this is not enough right so I'm going to use because I'm Chinese I'm going to use a very interesting historical example that the Dr sense Revolution and the birth of the uh Republic of China in 1911 so in 1911 one year before that 1910 there still uh China is still rued by the the Chin Dynasty right uh there's still monarchies there's still like kings um and and Doon he's like the Chinese League this is like the this like the The Avengers right they they have the ideas they have the idea of raising money and create something like th all over the world so they basically print something called Chinese Revolution coin by printers um and sell the Chinese Revolution coins say hey everyone who want to join the revolution just please buy some Chinese Revolution coins this an Ico and he signed used his name so this is like a non-cryptographic signature proofs uh Ico um and and tons of like overseas Chinese not only overseas Chinese like people who care about democracy uh love to see the birth of the First Republic in Asia that time and they just buy it right and there's no kyc needed because again this 1910 uh 80 95 to uh 910 there's no SEC okay and and they just raised a ton of money and they did a lot of nfts as well they did first um they the first uh newspaper in Asia as well mow which is nft it's very cheap you can just copy paste and print it if you can afford a token you can afford some like air drops of nfds and they create a lot of DS they use the master D to found the SE dos all across different places in China and they just start like 10 revolutions and in the end they success they turn into a government um that's the story of the Chinese league right and that's very interesting because if you really look into the the the modernization of many country in in the past 100 years many of these are following the same pattern you see a you see a visionary guy issue some tokens and proof some Ico raise money from the oversee people who care about the the same issue and able to come back and fight to the the other side uh and the success they create an internal system to do the transactions to trade goods and to public newspaper um that's their generations of nft and they even use telegram yeah the real tegram to uh to send message just like as today so for for mask when we when we started in 2016 there's not really a lot of like you know non-financial use case out there and we figure out you know we are going to we are going to entering a point that Financial use case going to over we're going to have enough financial use case for funding for raising money for transaction for defy whatever but there's just not enough non-financial um social public good Community use Cas is out there so max is one of the OG web3 social network out there with stuff from 2016 in 2017 we start to do a lot of fundings to the younger generation to to the other social networks you know uh like like lens and we even have a lot of investment in ZK as well like SC so we use our balance sheet and our fund to systematically invest in revolutions so the real revolutions we believe the real reevolution going to come no matter it's like 10 years or 20 years we use our balance sheet to systematically we use the Dow to system help the revolutions and I think one day we be have a great like the you know cyber space league and we're going to have the independent cyber space um that's our story and today it's been um um the seven the eighth year of of the mass network and it's the fourth year of we launch the token I think it's great uh being a pleasure uh and we launched a token four years ago almost here in East Denver so be it's my pleasure here again and I think we're going to see again create a civilization we're going to see a civilization um of the Mind in cyber space again quote from John Peter Barrow the
