[Music] all right hello everyone good morning and thank you for making it out here to be with us and yeah I really uh want to say thank you to Da zero to Tab and to all the other supporters here locally in taipe who made this happen because without you all it would never have happened so thank you so I will give a little brief history today and context of funding the commons uh little help here there we go so we have been doing these conferences around the world uh since 2021 um how many of you have been to a previous funding the commons before okay about a third a quarter nice all right so a lot of new people and yeah Vivian and Noah met at funding The Commons New York and I think it's so cool to see Full Circle that this is happening now kind of as a uh from the seed of their meeting at another event in another country um so we've been doing these events for uh two years now and we connect together the public sector Academia uh web 3 and philanthropy and really what we're doing is bridging these communities to innovate in how do we fund public goods and Commons more effectively all right so what are we focused on for 2 years we've been running conferences and bringing together the community uh next slide and now we are looking at how to create an incubation ecosystem for building and testing and prototyping and deploying public goods funding infrastructure and this involves academics doing cuttingedge research uh it involves people from the public sector that are interested in experimenting and and trying out new things uh it involves Builders and developers of Open Source software and it involves protocols that are deploying uh these Technologies in in real open source communities um where hundreds and thousands of developers are more and more being funded through public goods funding rather than through uh traditional means like Venture um to create new technology so in addition to conferences this year we've expanded into running hackathons uh running developer residencies in-person uh co- living experiences and facilitating working groups what's been happening so far this year in 2023 so the first Conference of the year was in Paris at sorbon University uh we did one in Berlin as well together with the D Berlin team and we ran a month-long developer residency which was a really interesting experiment and we're still still seeing the results come out of um what happens when you put 40 developers and Builders and innovators um in a building together for a month um all right so what's next we will have our next conference after this one in the San Francisco Bay area in April 2024 where we will be Bridging the artificial intelligence community and the uh traditional web 2 open source communities into the funding the commons community and we will have another conference later in 2024 concurrent to ethereum's Devcon and that will be uh nearby in Southeast Asia we're not exactly sure where yet but we suspect uh Vietnam or Thailand all right so yeah that's San Francisco that's where I'm from so we invite you all to come out in April and uh stay tuned about our announcement for funding the commons Southeast Asia uh we will run another developer residency next year so get in touch uh with us if you're interested in being a part of this and building together with other open source developers uh these are some other ways you can get involved um we have speaking slots at Future conferences you can volunteer um we're open to sponsors and we are always uh wanting to meet developers building open- Source technology uh for public goods and we do have uh grants available so we're open to ideas and proposals um so get in touch with us and thank you so much for being [Music] here
