How to Navigate the Uniswap Stack I Angela Ocando

ETHGlobalSun, Aug 9, 2026, 12:00 AM

In this workshop at ETHGlobal New York 2026, Angela Ocando from Uniswap Labs guides hackers through how to navigate the Uniswap stack. She frames Uniswap as one of the largest decentralized exchanges in the world, citing over $4.3 trillion in cumulative protocol volume, more than 2.7 billion all-time trades, over 10 million assets, and a recently launched Uniswap API now supporting more than 17 chains. She explains that the stack is more than the AMM: it spans the V2, V3, and V4 versions of the protocol (V3 introduced concentrated liquidity, V4 introduced hooks and a singleton pool architecture where everything happens under one main contract), plus Uniswap X (an intent-based protocol where users sign intents and a permissionless and exclusive filler network competes to execute them for best price), the Uniswap API (a distribution channel exposing routing quotes and execution via trading and LP endpoints), the CCA or continuous clearing auction (an execution layer running continuous auctions to match orders with optimal liquidity, useful for fair token launches), and newly launched AI skills that wrap the stack for agents and developers. Angela goes deeper on V4 hooks, a framework letting developers attach custom logic before and after pool actions (initialize, add and remove liquidity, swap, donate) via flags to create new DeFi primitives, noting the V4 template makes building hooks easier and that a hook can attach to many pools but each pool takes only one hook. She explains that Uniswap X checks the AMM, private AMMs, and external market makers to source the best price, all accessible through the API, and that CCA offers a bootstrapping framework for token launches. She announces that tokenized assets went live that morning across Uniswap's apps, the API, and Uniswap X. She then clarifies the hackathon bounties: $7,000 for the best Uniswap API integration built from scratch (requiring a feedback MD file logging agent errors so Uniswap can improve), and a continuity track for the best Uniswap stack contribution (building with any part of the stack, contributing to an open source repo, or submitting an explainer video). She demos the developer portal at developers.uniswap.org, showing that pasting it into Claude or Codex lets agents read the schema to optimize token spend, plus guides, an API reference for testing endpoints with keys, and ecosystem resources like foundation grants, the hook incubator, security subsidies, and go-to-market support, before closing with Q&A and pointing everyone to the booth. 00:00 Introduction 00:11 Meet Angela and the Goal 00:34 Uniswap by the Numbers 00:47 The Stack Is More Than the AMM 01:00 The AMM Versions and Hooks 01:30 Introducing Uniswap X 01:47 The Uniswap API as a Distribution Channel 02:05 The Trading and LP Endpoints 02:31 The Continuous Clearing Auction 02:55 The New AI Skills for Agents 03:16 A Closer Look at the Protocol Versions 03:45 How V4 Hooks Work 04:14 The V4 Template and Custom Logic Flags 04:35 One Hook Per Pool 04:44 Tokenized Assets Now Available 05:06 How Uniswap X Sources the Best Price 05:30 The CCA Bootstrapping Framework 06:00 The API and the Main Bounty 06:24 Installing the Uniswap Skills 06:44 Using Skills With Agents and x402 07:10 The Point of the Security Skills 07:32 The Hackathon Bounties Explained 07:52 Why a Feedback MD File Is Required 08:22 The Continuity Track Options 08:44 Finding Open Source Projects to Extend 09:20 The Video Submission Option 09:42 From Scratch vs Continuity Selection 10:04 Where to Find All the Prize Info 10:30 The Developer Portal 11:18 Installing the Skills With a Model 11:36 Plugging the Portal Into Your Agent 12:16 A Tour of the Developer Platform 12:33 The Swapping and API Guides 12:50 Ecosystem: Grants and the Hook Incubator 13:11 Security Subsidies and GTM Support 13:34 Testing the API Reference 14:03 Wrapping Up the Stack 14:27 Q&A 15:14 Closing _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ *ETHGlobal New York 2026* This workshop is specifically for ETHGlobal New York 2026, a 3-day hackathon held June 12-14 at the Metropolitan Pavilion, bringing together the most skilled web3 developers, designers and product builders from all around the globe for a weekend-long adventure to advance the Ethereum ecosystem! Hello everyone. My name is Angelo Canelo. I work in developer relations at Uniswap Labs. Today I want to introduce you to the Uniswap stack and help you navigate it a little. Let's start with the fact that Uniswap is one of the largest decentralized exchanges in the world.

Here are some numbers: total protocol volume of over 4.3 trillion, over 2.7 billion transactions all time, over 10 million assets. Recently, this year, we launched the Uniswap API, which now supports over 17 networks and so on. When you think of the Uniswap protocol, you think of AMM, right?

When you think about the Uniswap stack, you think about V2, V3, and V4, but we also have more products and infrastructure around it. So yes, of course we have Uniswap AMM versions V2, V3, and V4 Uniswap AMM versions V2, V3, and V4 . The latest version, V4, introduces hooks that allow developers to add their own logic to their own logic to any pool action. If you've been to our previous ETHDenver hackathons, you know that we've often offered bounties for this, and I see familiar faces with experience working with hooks. We also have Uniswap X—it’s essentially an intent-based layer or protocol where users sign intents and then a permissionless network of executors competes to execute them, allowing us to provide the best price for our users.

Now, through our Uniswap API, which is another of our products, anyone can access AMM and Uniswap X prices. The Uniswap API AMM and Uniswap X prices. The Uniswap API is essentially another distribution channel distribution channel , where quote routing and execution are handled through our endpoints. We have two main ones: a trading one, where you can get swap quotes etc., and an endpoint for LP.

For example, today many people use these endpoints: wallets use them to get the best price, knowing that we have AMM and Uniswap X levels. We also have many agents, right? To handle all of these swaps, and also manage transactions through LPs and manage some of these positions. We also have CCA, a continuous clearing auction clearing auction —an execution level that runs continuous auctions to match orders with optimal liquidity. So, for those planning to launch tokens in their projects, this ensures fair prices and transparent auction execution.

This is a new protocol that we launched a few months ago, actually, around this. And recently, with the advent of the artificial intelligence era, we launched several AI we launched several AI skills for agents and developers. This is a kind of toolkit that unifies our stack and protocol for easier interaction between agents and people with all our tools. So, as I mentioned, they are currently for versions of the Uniswap protocol versions of the Uniswap protocol . Uniswap V3, if you're familiar, introduced concentrated liquidity.

And the latest version, as I said, introduced hooks, as well as the "singleton" pool architecture, meaning now everything happens within one main contract, rather than through different types of contracts. And of course, now you have the ability to configure liquidity pools, and again, if you're planning on building anything DeFi-related, the hook fee allows you to create any new DeFi any new DeFi primitives. The difference between Uniswap hooks is that it is a V4 feature that can be enabled or simply not used. Before and after the exchange, you have several checkboxes that allow you to add your own logic. By the way, I'm adding these resources, but at the end of the presentation I'll provide a QR the presentation I'll provide a QR code with the entire presentation, so don't worry about that.

You will have all the resources you need so you can review them again and perhaps add them to your projects if you plan to build with us. This V4 template, in particular, is a kind of framework that will help you get started creating hooks more easily. And here are some flags that you can add to your own logic before and after initialization, before and after liquidity, before and after its removal, before and after exchange, before and after donation, etc. It is important to note that you can create a hook that can be attached to many pools, but only one hook can be added to a single pool. I don't know if this is clear, but it's important to note.

Uniswap X, as I mentioned, today we just announced that tokenized assets are available through the Uniswap protocol, including Uniswap X, Uniswap API, etc. So, as I said, Uniswap X is a network that allows filers to provide better execution of the purchase price. So, essentially purchase price. So, essentially , this is how it works: if you're currently in Iraq using our uni-app.uniswap.

org interface and you want to make an exchange, the system goes to Uniswap X and checks which of the offers provide the best price—whether it's Uniswap V2, V3, V4 on the classic side, which is AMMs, or private AMMs, or even other AMMs or market makers that we work with. That's why we can offer better prices. And now, as I mentioned, you can also access them through the Uniswap API, which again was launched thanks to this framework, and if you're planning on issuing tokens, this is a guide you can use. If you want to take a look, but essentially you just need to decide what strategy you are looking for. If you're building something around, say something around, say , tokenized assets or anything like that, you can probably pay attention to that.

And then the API that I mentioned, which is part of our bounties, particularly the main one—we want people to build solutions by integrating an API that looks for the best price execution using Uniswap X or the classic Uniswap AMM models. To do this, you just need to use one of our keys. Go to developers.uniswap.org.

I'll show you that in a moment, but yes. This should be pretty simple for all of you. And Uniswap skills, again, to use them, go to uniswap.com/uniswap AI. They offer certain capabilities, such as deployment, liquidity planning, or working with any tokens.

For example, if you use an agent to interact with XPRL2 or MPP or something else, you can use this skill to connect to our API so that your agents can interact without having to do all of these processes manually. So, a planner, a base for security. Someone here asked me, I think it was James, that when I create hooks, there are a lot of nuances that I need to pay attention to. So we created these skills to give you more clarity on how to build on them, and of course, to add the experience of course, to add the experience we've accumulated over the years. So, for this hackathon, everything is very simple: Eath Global announced the tracks " announced the tracks " Continuity" and " Continuity" and " From Scratch" a few days ago.

I want to clarify as I have received several questions regarding this. So, we have $7,000 for the best Uniswap API integration built from scratch. This applies to applies to any project you create here. We have three awards for them. I would like to ask you to add the feedback.

md file to your application. This is our requirement: have your agent add any errors you encounter during the process. This way we can improve our experience not only for future hackathons, but also for the entire process as a whole. We have two main endpoints: trading—for exchanging, getting quotes, etc. There is also an LP endpoint, which I find quite easy to manage positions with.

I don't want to give you ideas, because that would be you ideas, because that would be ... but in general, that's what it is . Additionally, we have a “continuity “continuity ” track—for the best contribution to the Uniswap stack. I wanted to give you the opportunity to participate by using our stack, both for projects from scratch and ongoing projects. ongoing projects.

First, create anything you want, using any using any part of the stack. part of the stack. Second, find one of our open source projects. For example, one of you found Uniswap X and said, “You know what, Angelo? The community needs a new SDK to do this or that.

” This is also a good idea for submission. Third point, special from our development team: we want you to make video submissions public, and it would be ideal if you recorded a video explaining something about the Uniswap stack. We will take this into account when distributing prizes. So, the first category So, the first category , “best Uniswap API integration,” is for projects built from scratch using the Uniswap API, which you’ll find at developers.uniswap.

org. I'll show you that soon. Everything is very simple and clear. 6 requests per second. And second, for continuity, the API is also included.

But the API is also included. But if you choose from scratch on your platform, your global platform global platform , it will not allow you to apply for continuity. So that's why , one way or another, you can only take a part. Additionally, you can also add any part of the stack. Additionally, if you build on top of build on top of any of our open-source repositories, that's also possible, plus the content part of the equation.

I don't know if this is clear, but I wanted to make sure each of you understood it. Again, ethglobal.com/events/newyear2026. Prizes from the Swap fund. You should find all the information there, but I'll show you the presentation soon.

Again , this morning we launched tokenized assets, available both in our apps and via API, as well as through Uniswap X. I hope this will be fun to work with during the hackathon over the weekend. And the Uniswap developer portal is the place to go. This QR code leads to this presentation. So in that sense, you can find all the resources there, it's also a place where you have everything you need.

Please need. Please , if you can't find something in this documentation, let me know. I'll add it me know. I'll add it . But yes, my goal is .

But yes, my goal is for us all to find answers to our questions, and if not, you let me know through this feedback.md file and I'll take care of it. And so, I just want to quickly show you how to install our tools, which, again, is pretty simple. If you are using your favorite model, I have been experimenting with the 505 been experimenting with the 505 . Quite expensive, yes, but for planning I use this model and for everything else I go back to Opus.

For simple things, this usually works. Use others. The Internet connection is not working. Classic, so I'll come back and show you. I wanted to show you something very simple: we're putting a lot of effort into AI, so now you can just add developer.

uniswap.org to your codec or cloud service, and you don't have to spend any more tokens on it, because we designed it so that when you copy and paste this into your cloud service, the agents read this schema that best optimizes all your processes and queries. So, don't hesitate to ask, it will definitely help optimize your costs. And this is the developer platform I wanted to show you. I know there's a lot of information out there , but I just wanted to quickly walk you through this whole process.

Here you will find several guides. The most important thing, in my opinion, is this section with the exchange. Here you can find everything related to the Uniswap API. There are also many answers to frequently asked questions that your agent should review if any questions arise. If not, please let me know.

I'll add it. The file will be Feedback MD. And here you can find everything related to the Uniswap API. Here's everything you need to know about the previous one, but there's something else interesting about the ecosystem. In terms of funding, I often get asked at all these hackathons, "Hey, after this, I don't have internet here don't have internet here ."

But if you go there, you'll find forums where you can apply for Uniswap Foundation grants, UniChain grants, or the Uniswap Hook incubator, which is where most people start learning about Hooks and DeFi. We also have UF as F, so if you're planning to launch a product after this, we provide security grants for our developers. If you go to GTM support, it's not just for placeholders, so if you want to be part of this exclusive network, apply and our team will review it and help you. But if you want to do co- do co- marketing, let's say, marketing, let's say, "Hey Angelo, I'm building a project, and I'd like Uniswap to retweet or interact with it somehow. " interact with it somehow.

" Our team can also provide help and support there. On the security side, if you run into run into any issues, we publish a list of security partners who can support you. Then, again, because of the internet issues, in the API links section you can test the API endpoints. You just have to log in with your API keys, and by default, it's all enabled. So, again, you can test everything before you add it to your code.

And in the resources section, you'll find even more things that I hope will make your hackathon experience better. So that's basically the Uniswap stack. If you have any more questions, let me know. But, yeah, ideally, you and your cloud and your army of agents will be able to do it this weekend. So thank you.

That's it. Boom. I think you. That's it. Boom.

I think we have time. Yeah, someone... Okay, cool. Yeah. Yeah, yeah, yeah.

I mean, check the legal details, but 100% yes, available. Um, and they're there from the user's perspective and also through all the API units. So if you're building some kind of product, you can also provide them to your users if you want. Um, yeah. So we already have the spaces.

Um, it's... I think, yeah, yeah, yeah. I'll ask the team after this, if I can say that, but yeah. Yeah. Cool.

Any more stupid questions? No? Cool. Um, thank you all, and me and my team—we're at our booth. We'll be there, if not 24/7 in real life, then 24/7 online.

So we want to make sure that we're providing the best support for all of you, let us know how we can improve our experience. We're here for you. So, thank you again. Thank you.
