Russia Embraces Bitcoin, Apple Unlocks Crypto Payments & SEC Signals Green Light 🚨

Transcript

Russia is opening the door to crypto. Apple just made Bitcoin payments easier overnight. And the SEC might finally let companies experiment onchain. I'm Lauren Wixom and you're watching the Boston Blockchain Beat. [music] Russia has officially passed new crypto regulation and is moving toward legalizing Bitcoin for certain use cases.

But this isn't about everyday people using crypto. This is about countries using Bitcoin as infrastructure, especially for crossber payments. [music] The chairman of the state Duma's committee on financial markets said a draft bill is ready for consideration during the spring parliamentary session. The proposal would effectively normalize cryptocurrency within Russia's financial system, signaling a shift toward treating digital assets as part of everyday finance rather than an exceptional or experimental instrument. So, as you see, when governments start using Bitcoin instead of trying to ban it, well, that's when things get real.

The SEC has finally signaled an onchain shift. Paul Atkins, a key voice around the SEC, recently said that companies may soon be able to experiment onchain within weeks. We're talking about tokenization, real world assets, and financial products moving on to blockchain rails. Regulation has been the biggest bottleneck in crypto. But if that changes and if companies are actually allowed to build, we could see a massive wave of innovation.

So stocks, funds, ownership structures, all moving onchain. So instead of regulation being a red light, it might finally turn green. All right, guys. Apple finally has a crypto update. And I feel like this one didn't get enough attention, but it's huge news.

Apple has removed restrictions on inapp bitcoin and crypto payments. That means developers can now integrate crypto payments more freely inside iOS apps. I mean, when the biggest platform in the world makes it easier to use Bitcoin, adoption follows. So, I feel like this little bit of news had to make it into the BBB. And finally, crypto meets social X is starting to support sharing and interacting with smart contracts directly on the platform.

So now blockchain isn't just something you access through apps, it's becoming part of the internet experience itself. Imagine deploying a smart contract the same way you post a tweet that turns social media into a distribution layer for blockchain. And that's how this stuff goes mainstream.
