Hello everyone. My name is Angela Kando, and I work in developer relations at Uniswap Labs. I'm also here with Ivan, one of our Uniswap Foundation ambassadors. And today we will show you how to work with the new Uniswap stack. When you think of Uniswap, you probably imagine the protocol, but we have many sources and resources for you to interact with and build on the on-chain world .
To give you some context, Uniswap some context, Uniswap is one of the largest decentralized exchanges in the world. Here are some indicators: 4.3 trillion in cumulative volume, over 2.7 billion transactions, over 2 million assets, and many other interesting things and opportunities for your interaction. If you ever plan to create a fintech create a fintech or financial application online, Uniswap could be a good option for you.
I want to start by showing you the first interface of the Uniswap protocol in 2018, using it as inspiration for your projects today. Most protocols built on the web started out at hackathons like this or as MVPs. So even if you initially see your ideas and think, "Hey, I'd like to build this as a protocol in the future." These events are a great opportunity for all of you to start building, and in the future it could become something like this . So, yes.
The first version of the Uniswap protocol, followed by the Uniswap stack. When I first joined Uniswap, I thought it was just AMM. Under AMM, Uniswap introduced the first version of an automated market maker that allows for on-network trading, i.e. trading without the need for any centralized structure.
Over time, it evolved from V2, V3 to V4, and now we have Uniswap V4, which introduces hooks, allowing developers to add their own logic to their own logic to any pool action. This means that previously we only had the ability to exchange, but now we can exchange and add our own logic to these pools. For example, I don't know, I just want certain people to exchange assets in my pool, or I want certain people to do the exchange and at the same time receive certain types of commissions, or some kind of reward for those commissions or something like that . So, now I have the ability to add my own set of rules at the AMM level. Next, we have Uniswap X—it's actually an intent-based protocol that allows people to sign auctions or intentions, and then executors compete to implement them.
So, think about larger transactions where I would like to, I don't know, exchange, let's say, a million dollars in the AMM protocol. There is such a thing as slippage. So if you want better price execution, there are certain micro- price execution, there are certain micro- private market private market makers that will compete to execute that trade. And at the same time, it also includes the classic AMM. I'll show you this later, but for now I'm just mentioning it.
Next we have CCA, which is essentially a continuous clearing auction or execution level for each of you to issue tokens, where people use this as an auction, offering a fair price for all of these new or possible tokens. Recently, earlier this year, we launched the Uniswap API, which has several endpoints, but you can mainly use it for routing, quotes, and execution. And this Uniswap API now handles not only all of our routing mechanisms at the interface level, but also includes over 25 private micro- private micro- dealers that actually give you the best execution price when you get a quote from it. And we also have Uniswap AI skills, which are essentially a set of skills that allow you to interact with our protocol using natural language. At the end of this video, we'll show you a little demonstration of how to use these skills, but yes, this is actually a set of tools that you can all use if you're planning on building something over the weekend, and also for the finance ecosystem.
So, as I mentioned, there are currently four versions of the Uniswap protocol. Uniswap V3 in particular introduced what is called concentrated liquidity. We used to have this curve where every time you added liquidity to the pool, it was distributed along its entire length. But now it's better because you can choose, by adding liquidity, "Hey, I just want to add volume to this ETH-USDC pool." The range is between, I don't know, $50, $100, and $2,000.
This way, both the user and the liquidity provider get better prices. Uniswap V4, as I mentioned, introduced a single pool architecture where everything happens in a single contract, as well as hooks— well as hooks— tools that can be used to add some custom logic. So, this actually allows you to configure liquidity pools at the Uniswap V4 level. Again, Uniswap hooks are optional, so you can use regular pools, but if you want to use pools with hooks, then when you start a swap, the mechanism checks if you have the "before swap" flag activated. If you added some custom logic there, it will run that logic, perform the swap, and after the swap it can also check the result check the result .
There are many use cases here: for example, donations, KYC, or, say, commissions or dynamic fees. We also recently launched a set of Uniswap hooks, which I will show you later. This opens up a bunch of new possibilities for all of you as developers. These are some of the flags we have. You can, for example, configure actions before and after swap initialization, after adding liquidity, after removing liquidity, before and after swap, and before and after donation.
If you want to take a look, you can go to the Uniswap V4 template—it's like a template on GitHub where there are some scripts that should help you set up some of these pools more easily. Additionally, as I mentioned, we have Uniswap X—an we have Uniswap X—an exclusive intent-based protocol where there are private market private market makers and other AMMs, as well as classic ones, allowing people to interact and search for the best prices. Again, this works for larger swaps, I think $300 and up. You can go to developers.uniswap.
org and find all the information you need there . Uniswap X is one of the mechanisms we use in the Uniswap interface to provide the best way for users to interact, and we work closely with market makers to execute these large swaps. And as I mentioned, CCA is essentially a new platform for launching tokens. So launching tokens. So , you can interact with all this liquidity, this is like a liquidity trigger and how it works.
But again, that's all, our entire stack that we have. Finally, we have the Uniswap API, which is honestly one of the main things at this hackathon, and we would really like you all to integrate it. So, essentially, the trading API allows all integrators to access and leverage deep aggregated liquidity. We use this API at the Uniswap interface level, which includes both Uniswap X and classic Uniswap. By classic we mean the protocol, AMM, and Uniswap X refers to the exclusive filler network we mentioned earlier.
But this API is also used by institutional users and you can use it too . It's just as simple: go to developers@uniswap.org, get your API key and access to our routing system without having to build anything yourself. Honestly, it's pretty easy. You just check if it's in your wallet.
Token Approval: If so, and you have already signed these transactions or approved them before, it sends the transaction directly and you can get a quote and check the readiness to execute, and it also checks the authorization—this is a kind of security mechanism that we have to better manage your transactions. So finally, we ask you to sign this consent form. This way, only you will have access to all these transactions. So yeah, pretty simple workflow. We have various endpoints including exchange and liquidity.
We also recently launched chain actions. But yes, there are still many interesting things ahead. So if you come across a new endpoint at some point, we can discuss it and maybe our team will work on it in the future. And finally, the Uniswap API, but again, AI—it's a set of tools that you can use to interact with our entire stack, including the Beefy Hook security framework, the Uniswap API, liquidity provision, and more. So, for this hackathon, we have two directions.
We have a “from scratch” direction, i.e. for those who work during the weekend, and we are looking for the best integration with the Uniswap API. This means that we want people to integrate our Uniswap API into their projects, which should be pretty easy to do, honestly, because if you're building something based on financial primitives, you might need swaps, and this is a great way to do it. And, frankly , above all these opportunities, we are looking for the best feedback we can get.
So let us know how we can improve your experience and we're ready to make it happen, say, two to three weeks after the hackathon. That would be great. That's why we added a requirement to add a feedback.md file to your GitHub. And if you can provide this feedback about the hackathon, it will help us keep our finger on the pulse and provide you with the best possible experience.
We also have a continuity track, which essentially involves the best integration or contribution to the Uniswap stack, i.e. if you continue working on a project you built previously, using using any part of the stack. Use what you are comfortable with: from our SE gates to, say, CCA, Uniswap X, or the AMM CCA, Uniswap X, or the AMM protocol. If you're creating any new hook, as I mentioned, the possibilities are endless.
The rules are the same. We want to hear from you. We're here to ask, " here to ask, " Hey, how can we improve your experience? improve your experience? " What are we missing " What are we missing ?
And how can we make your life as easy as possible in the future? So if you can be honest with us and say, "You know what, Angelo, we're missing this endpoint." "Hey this endpoint." "Hey , Angelo, you know what, this documentation doesn't work." "Hey, Angelo, you know what, this feature really doesn't make sense."
"Hey, Angelo, what if we had a BRC?" "That would be just incredible for us ." And so, again, we only have these two tracks. We recently launched tokenized assets on Robinhood, as well as through our API and AMM. Also through Uniswap X.
And the day before yesterday we launched permissioned pools on Uniswap. This is essentially a new hook that allows you to create pools that require whitelisted addresses . We also have hooks for double pools. So double pools. So , we're launching a set of new tools and a bunch of new stacks for you all to interact with.
Let us know how we can improve them and we'll be happy to do so. And then, uh, where you can find all this information in one place: developers.uniswap.org. And now, um, Ivan is going to help us do a little demo of using the Uniswap API to show you the Uniswap AI and how easy it is.
So, yes. Yes, hello. Now I will show you how to use Uniswap's AI skills for two projects. First, we two projects. First, we will add exchange and quote capabilities to the existing interface existing interface .
And secondly, we will try to make a trader out of Claude or any other coding agent of your choice. So, what exactly are we going to build? By the way, all the information from this demo is in this project. We'll pin this on the slides. You go to the root folder and launch the final interface.
And we will create a D&D-style Uniswap interface. You need to choose a character with different abilities. For example, Barbarian has increased slippage when you choose the amount to trade. After that, the dice are rolled and I have a dungeon tax of 1%. So I'm not going to pay it.
But if you go to the same repository in the starter folder, there will be an empty interface without any integration, just an interface. First, you go to uniswap.developers.org to get your API get your API keys. Mm.
Yes, it is not downloaded via the Internet , but there will be keys and instructions for installing them. I already have them, um they are already in the starter folder. So what we're going to do is just take a query that tells the neural network, "Hey, we want to add Uniswap capabilities to this interface." And after about 10 minutes, the result should look like the final interface. I encourage all of you to try it, come up to me, to our booth, and say, " booth, and say, " Ivan, this works, and this does n't."
Because 90% of the time it works. What would you like to change in the query to make it work better? While the request is being executed, let's move on to another terminal. Let's start the Claude session. And let's give Claude the ability to trade assets.
For this we need another plugin. We will install the Uniswap AI plugin. And we will install Uniswap trading tools. It already has several pre- installed trading strategies. I'm currently testing simple strategies.
And a simple strategy is time-weighted average cost. So, I want my cloud service to buy $10 worth of ETH every day for the next 30 days. And we can do it. We just say: hello, go to the Rubicon network, use the API to buy ETH. It will take about 3 minutes to set up, but after that you will have three configurations.
So, here is the strategy configuration. There's RPC here, a strategy that, uh, here's taken from an old strategy where we convert ETH to wrapped ETH, but it works the same for other tokens, amounts, and, for example, limits. The second is state, so every time the bot performs a transaction, it updates the state. A startup script is also generated that allows you to activate it. You will either need to run it manually every time, or add it to cron jobs, or to the cloud or cloud services, or if it is an automated agent like open cloud or Hermes, it will already be integrated.
Let's take a look. It's still under construction, and so is the interface, so in about 10 minutes we'll have a working prototype. So, I think we're going back to Angela. Honestly, no. That's probably all; If you have any questions, we are here.
Also, if you want, come to our stand, we will be there. You can count on us throughout the weekend. And if not, then again , you can move to Uniswap...and I promise, our entire team is there to help you make the integration as smooth as possible. Have a nice time over the weekend.
So, thank you. Do we have any questions? Is everything clear? Oh, okay. Yes.
What-what? Yes, we do not have support for the Robinhood testnet. Yes, that's true. Such is life. Uh , yes.
Yes. Yes, this is supported. I actually launched, I think it's not polished yet, but I was just playing around with small amounts. This will be a classic option. It will use the classic protocol instead of Uniswap X, but yes instead of Uniswap X, but yes , it worked perfectly.
So, yes. Steeply. We don't have a command line interface yet. But we have the relevant skills. This is all we have at the moment.
Yeah, if that's what, uh Yeah, if that's what, uh , would be most convenient for you, we can add that to the roadmap as well that to the roadmap as well . We're working on it, but it should work next time, I don't know. Class. Pools with permissions? Yes.
Yeah, well, uh, do we have time? Not quite. No, everything is fine. But I can explain this to you at the booth, it's actually a new hook for connecting new wallets to that pool wallets to that pool , specifically in router , specifically in router swap. So, everything is fine swap.
So, everything is fine . Class. Thank you all.
