Hello everyone. Wow. 2026 ECC number nine. What a pleasure to be here with you today. I hope you have missed us since last July because we missed you a lot and we are extremely proud to gather you all again in Cannes this year.
I I want to keep this very brief because we have nine rooms. So, you guys need to figure out of where the where all the rooms are and how the palace is set up. Um but again, like it's very emotional for me because we we've been doing this for almost 10 years. You wouldn't imagine what it is. Um and yeah, well, anyway, uh if you have any complaints, you can hit me directly on Twitter at jdj.
Uh if you don't you cannot find the Wi-Fi password, if anything, like just hit me up. I'll be uh very happy to to answer all your questions.
[sighs]
So, what is ECC and where does it come from? Um ECC is the conference of Ethereum France. Ethereum France is a nonprofit that was created in 2000 what 20 2015 um and started to be very active in 2016. Uh we are a nonprofit and we are also kind of an anomaly in the blockchain industry because we bear the name Ethereum and we are not affiliated to the Ethereum Foundation. Yet, we do a lot of thing around Ethereum.
Um initially, it was just a group of passionate people, passionate people about Ethereum, about blockchain in general and just wanted to spread the technology. And we've been organizing ECC every year since 2016 uh 17, sorry. We translate stuff in French. So, uh if you have technical papers, uh if you want to read in French about the next upgrades on of Ethereum, just go on ethereumfrance.com.
But more importantly, if you are a builders and you want to meet other people from the industry, if you are interested to connect with the local community, hit us hit us up. Whether you are in Paris, in Toulouse, in Cannes, in wherever in France, we can help you out. But also, if you're doing business in France in the blockchain industry, do talk to us. Like we are happy to connect people uh that want to grow the pie for everyone. And ECC is our largest event, but we also organize free meetup every month all over France uh and sometimes also abroad.
So, again, hit us up, talk to us. Uh you will meet Ethereum France people, just uh connect with us. So, this year again, we brought you in Cannes and we will also bring you in Cannes next year. Uh we hope the city is growing on you because it's very growing on us. Uh one thing I really love about Cannes is how much of a village it feels.
You walk around and you meet a lot of people around and it's fairly easy to go from one place to the other when you have a dinner, when you have a breakfast, when you want to do something with your pals outside of Ethereum outside of ECC. But also, you can uh um um grow the palace itself because there's a lot of thing going on in this palace. I mean, nine rooms, but we have lots of side events and inside events as well this year.
[sighs and gasps]
Ethereum has been running for 10 years without any halt. Um we celebrated the 10th anniversary last July right after ECC. We are almost 10 years of ECC now. Uh so, next year's edition will be very special for us. Uh we hope to see you here again next year.
Um sometimes it's hard to organize ECC. We had COVIDs, we had wars, we had all of kinds of shambles uh in the world and in the markets, but whatever happens, Ethereum is here, ECC is here as well. Sometimes against all odds, sometimes come hell and high water, come thick and thin, we are able to organize this event because of you, because of the the sponsors and because of the upstream of Ethereum France. Again, the largest, most accessible and quality content packed conference there is and I'm again extremely glad to have you all here today. So, we want to position ECC as a an anomaly in the tech industry and and in the in the blockchain event industry as well.
We hope you perceive it as we do as a public good for the ecosystem. It's evolving with you. Um 10 years ago, uh very few of us had kids. Now, we have kids. Uh so, we have a kindergarten inside ECC.
Uh very few of you were um making business with traditional industry. So, now we are bringing traditional industries into ECC as well. And we had to grow as well. We had to figure out a way to pack thousands of people at the same place and to make sure that we can welcome everyone in the same in the same building and sometime in just in the same city as well. Again, ECC is your public good.
Uh we are constantly at looking at what commentaries we get, what kind of feedback we get, uh listening to your suggestions, listening to your critics. Um and you can also come talk to us directly. Yes, we speak French, but we also speak English. So, if you want to be an Ethereum France member that doesn't speak French, it's possible. Just come around and let us know how you can help and we are very happy to welcome you in.
As a public good, Ethereum France is a nonprofit and this conference is not free. This is how we break down our budget just so you know. We have 40% of the budget that comes from tickets and 60% that comes from sponsors. So, without sponsors, we wouldn't be able to host a conference that's at a price point of 100 euro per day including lunch, snacks and all. This is some emphasis I want to put here.
Um the reason why we are able to host this conference for so cheap is because we get a lot of support from the sponsors. Um we have been witnessing various trend in the industry like hosting tons and tons of side events. I think the the largest we got was 600 during uh ECC Brussels. Now, we are down to 200. That's that's still a lot.
I think you get a pretty packed week if you look at ECC week and all the and all the side events being referenced. So, there's a lot of thing going on. But I want to bring a message to you all going to side events or think about organizing a side events, we can help. You can do it with us as well. This year, we had uh several parties that uh reached out to us to set up inside events and we are very happy to welcome them.
Whether it is the Ave DeFi Day, whether it is the EVA, uh Chain Patrol, Eth Staker, the Insurance Front Table and of course, the CTF from from Wonderland. So, next year, think about that. Reach out. Uh we can help set up your dream event, maybe make it synchronous or asynchronous to to uh uh ECC, but bring in more synergy in the ecosystem as a whole. Um the reason why we want to keep Ethereum and ECC as a public good is because we want to be able to welcome newcomers, to be able to to get uh the 1 million follower guy that have a a keynote on stage, but also uh the the the new PHDs recently PhD people that uh that want to talk about some cryptographic uh primitive or something.
This is how we get uh close to 300 people on stage uh to set up what's the new thing around Ethereum and blockchain. And this is all uh thanks to you, thanks to you coming to ECC, thanks to the sponsors want to want to be doing some branding and some industrial uh coverage around ECC. So again, thank you for this. ECC has evolved into a forum where you can do business, where you can do research, but also where you can collaborate and meet the community and for the community. This is the a very old picture of one of the first edition of ECC and uh I think a lot of people that I see on this picture also see them in the room.
So, it's also very uh good to see that people are returning again in ECC. Uh we had so many stories that were told at ECC and new chapters are being written here as well. For our 10th anniversary, we'll be doing a a series of podcasts and thing that happened around the conference over the years. So, uh looking forward to this specifically. Um as I said in the previous slides, this wouldn't be possible without the sponsors.
This year, we have a a new sponsors that decided to take the biggest spot there is, Wonderland. And it's uh people that I met initially at the early ECCs. So, uh good to see that uh they are coming and giving back and I wanted to showcase more stuff. Uh Wonderland, uh I think they are mostly based in Argentina. So, uh they came a long way here to connect with you all.
Uh and they are setting up a big capture the flag event that will run uh across ECC with a 30K of uh prize money if you participate to the CTF. So, check it out. Definitely worth it. Um we have tons of sponsors this years. Uh those are nice booths.
So, I definitely uh incentivize you to to go and check it out. Go and check out what they have to to propose and what they are doing out there at their booths. Uh some of them are returning sponsor again. Um so, that's also something very important for us. It means that people that come and sponsor at ECC, they get something for coming to ECC.
Another wave of sponsors here. Uh smaller booths, but also worth checking out. Checking out. I intend to go on a swags a swag fest right after my talk and collect a lot of t-shirts and socks and stuff for getting dressed the whole year. Up.
And coming back. Yeah, and there's more like another wave of sponsor here. Um so, that's a lot of people to come and meet at their different booths. Um and I want you guys to give a big round of applause because this wouldn't be possible without them.
[cheering and applause]
So again, I promised to keep this very quick and short because there is nine rooms in this at this edition. So you probably have witnessed the agenda. If you haven't yet, it's on ecc.io. You can check out the agenda agenda page and you see all the different rooms.
So you can get organized, get ready. It's pretty packed days. It's going to be a pretty packed four days. So if you want to rush to see the next speakers at the Chaplin stages over there. So like feel free to to go and peruse.
After me, there will be Stani. I don't know if Stani is already in the room. Maybe it's but we'll see. And yeah, thank you again. ECC is here because of you.
It's here for you. It's your public good and yours to nurture and grow. Do reach out if you want to get involved. Do reach out if you have critics, if you have feedbacks, if you have suggestions. We are open to everyone to contribute and collaborate.
Thank you again for coming. My heart is really warm right now seeing all of those people that I know and I don't know yet in the in the room. So I hope you will enjoy the week as much as we enjoyed preparing it for you. Take care guys. Well, done.
