this video is proudly brought to you by WD with licks our official sponsors for cohort 11 in this video we'll be talking about diamond storage and app storage the D standard smart contract conforms to the EIP 2535 and um under the D standard smart contract there are two basically forms of storage we have the diamond storage and the app storage these are ways of storing modular State and patterns and these patterns are know are known as Diamond patterns and of course the storage actually allows for storing States and functionality of your diamond without breaking the compatibility of your smart contract diamond storage is particular used for modular and um gradable smart contract and then it does this by centralizing state variables into a storage slot and um also shares this uh slot with multiple other contracts and these contracts are called facets and then um this process L enables for upgradability of the smart contract like adding to the smart contract removing from the smart contract or even replacing the smart contract um this is like a summary of what Diamond standard diamond storage is all about so up storage is used to um um manage um the datas that so as to be shared across different facets so um having established that the diamond um the diamond storage itself it's a form of um modularity um a form of design pattern that is used to um organize and creates the sort of um patterns through which data are being um um used and different contracts are being used app storage is basically used to share um datas across these different facets so in the sense that um we we don't want different facet to have their own um data in specific instead every every of the facets that belong to that upgradeable smart contract um talks to a specific um storage and which is the app storage so the app storage is basically um um the storage the storage section where um all facets talk to the specific data across the old smart contract in general [Music]
